Decided I needed some light and fun reading over Christmas, so decided to do a reread on a favourite childhood series.
Decided I needed some light and fun reading over Christmas, so decided to do a reread on a favourite childhood series.
In this first Nancy Drew book, the teenage super-sleuth rescues an endangered child, changes a flat tire, nurses an elderly invalid, expertly drives both cars and boats, saves several needy people from financial ruin, performs a small engine repair, foils the plans of hardened criminals, and manages to negotiate a 50% discount on a stunning new dress! She‘s smart, she‘s pretty, she‘s brave, and her manners are impeccable. What‘s not to love?
I love older kids literature but have had little luck getting my daughter interested. I convinced her to take a break from Percy Jackson for Nancy Drew and she is really enjoying it, so much she read me a chapter tonight! This is a fun reread.
I‘ve been meaning to go here - Baldwin Books. My husband and I were out for a drive today and stumbled across it. Picked up a book!
Reading is usually my happy place, but I have been at a reading stand still since March. It‘s like my brain couldn‘t deal Covid19, all the change that came with Covid-19 and read a book. So in an attempt to temp my brain back into reading mode I read something nostalgic from childhood. Unfortunately, ol‘ Nancy does not hold up.
Made some good progress on my #HomeLibrary this weekend, including starting this #nostalgia shelf! This is the spot where I‘ll keep my favorite childhood series books & other old favorites. #TheBookThief #NancyDrew #HarryPotter #TheClique #TheCheetahGirls #Eragon

*Considering I grew up on Nancy Drew, is it any wonder that I still love a good mystery? Well, the answer to that question is hardly a *ahem* mystery. ♥️
For years, I‘ve told myself I would read all 56 Nancy Drew mysteries... there are a few I‘ve never read. The simple sentences really make me want to laugh. But, I read about a third of the book in no time at all and quite enjoyed myself.
My complete set of 1950s Nancy Drew mysteries♡♡♡
Just finished rereading my first Nancy Drew book! A fun quick read, but I couldn‘t help but think how crazy this girl was! Sneaking into a barn with a bunch of ruffians just nearby?! No way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
I was feeling a little nostalgic, so I stopped by the library and picked up a few copies of Nancy Drew. I read book one yesterday. On the menu today - Book two, The Hidden Staircase.
This is my first Nancy Drew book ever!! And I have to say that 13 year old me, would have relished the maturity and action of this book, 32 year old me finds Nancy Drew‘s freakishly coincidental happenstances a bit suspicious. Lol. It was a cute quick read. I did find myself questioning a lot of things, but I had to remember that this wasn‘t written for me. Having now read one of her books, I can say my childhood was not lacking.
So glad we all made it to the weekend!!

Books from my stacks with clocks in their titles and/or on their covers. I had to include both Time After Time covers--the movie tie-in as the movie is a favorite & the one with a clock on it. A Clockwork Orange is a long ago bail--I just couldn't get into it. Red Clocks is a more recent bail--more bad timing on my part than issues with it. I checked out the library audiobook last month but couldn't focus on it.🕰
📖 I remember loving The Borrowers when my mother read it to me.
👖 I learned the word “khaki” from reading NancyDrew. I used to pronounce it “ka-ha-ki” in my head.
⏰ I‘ll read anytime.
☕️ I‘m generally an indoor girl, but I‘d love to get outside more.

One of my favorite photos I‘ve ever taken of my oldest childhood favorite books. The middle one is the oldest one I own (1930‘s) and also an original text. The watches were my grandfather‘s ❤️

Although this is an updated cover, the first Nancy Drew was #publishedinthe1930s
I loved this book as a kid and I felt very grownup reading it. I reread it now for a #popsugarchallenge prompt, #abookyoulovedasachild. What a fun romp down memory lane! 3/5⭐️
❤️I found a Nancy Drew collector's dream in the independent bookseller, Books on Bay.... this is just a small sampling of what I ogled like a fool over. The owner gave me such an education on collecting and showed me a few rarities that she had behind the desk. I completely got to booknerd out this afternoon.
🔎My next Holy Grail is the edition with Ned smoking in an illustration! 🚬

I grew up loving Nancy Drew and being envious of her blue convertible! #sassy #anditsaugust #richgirl #augustgrrrl
So I was a big fan of Alice détective as a kid and discovered since then that she is actually Nancy drew in disguise! Apparently the translation changes a lot of things... Even names. So I need to read them in English... But right now reading in French because I need a author name in q for #litsyatoz!
