pickOverall I really enjoyed this book. I don‘t know if I was wild about the love story between Cas and Anna but I did love all the characters. And I‘m always a sucker for supernatural stories.
On to the sequel!
I remember this being a good (and spooky) story, though I still haven‘t made it to book 2!

bailedIf you're a big Buffy fan, you'll either be excited by how much this takes from that, or be very annoyed by how unoriginal it is. There's literally a character named Will Rosenberg (instead of Willow Rosenberg) and a British librarian mentor named Gideon (instead of Giles). Cas even refers to himself as Chosen, and from a sacred line of ghost hunters. It's all too much for me. I find it too distracting, so I have to dip at 70%.
Ok, I'm halfway through and I can't hold this in any longer... this is thinly veiled Buffy fanfiction. I know that series like the back of my hand, and she is sneaking NOTHING past me here 😅 Fun, but distracting. She did go on to write the new official Buffy novel though, which I adored! In fact, it's why I came to her backlog. Did not expect to find Cas the Ghost Slayer, his Ghostbuster pals, and British librarian mentor, but... 🤷🏽♀️
pickI cannot believe that Anna's story ends like that! Theseus, his mom, and the town of Thunder Bay make for the most terrifying and utterly mesmerizing story I have read this year!

I'm very excited to start this book after reading All These Bodies! And the gloomy, overcast, rainy weather (and Law & Order: Criminal Intent in the background) is the perfect setting for a ghost story day
panIt‘s not immersive in the way most horror novels are, and if you are unsure of the genre, it would be a good starting point. However, if you enjoy novels with spine-tingling writing and hardcore suspense, this won‘t be the book for you. This read more like young fiction rather than horror. #horror #youngadult

pickA beautiful, bloody, vengeful ghost and the teenage ghost hunter who is supposed to kill her... This one is perfect for Halloween. The descriptions of Anna were vivid and fascinating. The book was both gory and sweet at the same time

#LittensDressedInBlood Today's prompt is Ghostbusters, so I picked the book that inspired the challenge.
The book is about ghost hunter Cas. He and his mom roll into different towns and dispatch he ghosts with the help of his father's athame (his father who was murdered by ghosts). Then he meets Anna, a ghost who has murdered her fair share of idiots, er, people. Getting Supernatural vibes, right? I need to do a re-read soon!
Just a few more days until #LittensDressedInBlood starts! I've been busy making stacks of books (for both this, #scarathlon and #WinterGames, because that is how I roll), and I'm ready for to fall into a huge pile of mysteries, thrillers, horrors and more!

pickJust finished this one that @Littlewolf1 and I were trying to read together forever. I liked that he is a ghost hunter and moves to his next hunt, but still enrolls to a school there. See kids school is important even if you are dispatching ghosts. It had some exciting hidden jems and pretty decent gore for a YA. Definitely would recommend.

pickThis book is SO good! It has heart. It has horror. It has carnage. It‘s both haunting and about a haunting. 😉 Stellar plot, creative and imaginative, and while it‘s an old trope, it felt new. It‘s the first book I‘ve read in a while where I thought both, “Yay! There‘s a sequel!” and, “Must read the sequel immediately!” I‘ll be very happy if the next book delivers as much as this one did.
pick🎧 The Cas Lockwood series reminds me of Victoria Schwab‘s Cassidy Blake series except a bit scarier. I like the narrator‘s voice. I love ghost stories like this. Scary kid ghost story. I read this many many moons ago, then listened to it on audio the following year for book club. I decided on a reread as I was looking for something spooky for October, but also something I could handle. Now that I‘m about ¼ through the book I remembered that I didn‘t like the audio that much so I‘ve decided to switch to the print version. (Which is gorgeous).
pickOkay, so I actually listened to the audiobook. No offense to the narrator but it took me about three chapters in to tolerate his voices. As far as the storyline itself, I was pleasantly surprised to like it as much as I did. Not quite sure what I was expecting but I did have low expectations. It left me wanting more and anticipating what was going to happen next. This was my first read by this author and won‘t be the last.

I‘m 206 pages into Anna dressed in blood and I love it I love the detail it has and how creepy it is. It‘s about a ghost hunter named Cas, he goes around killing different ghosts. But one ghost he has to kill next is surprisingly strong, throughout the book he tries to kill Anna unsuccessfully. I haven‘t finished the book yet but I love it so far.
I'm bringing back #LittensDressedInBlood! I recently read a Book Riot article (I think it was BR), and it basically said that since 2020 is sucking so bad, it's Halloween the rest of the year, and I agree. More details to come tomorrow. #Readathon

pickThis was an enjoyable little YA ghost story, but the voice actor was only ok.

This is a fun, spooky YA book that's perfect as an audiobook this time of year. I also loved all the Ghostbuster references. 👻

pickMy only complaint is that these kids are 17 and all their pop culture references are from way before their time! The beginning of this book is super creepy and gory, intensely so for YA. The scariness wears off as the human factor ticks up (gore factor remains). A quick, enjoyable and seasonally appropriate read.
pickI was able to finish this during my lunch break and it was so so good! So anyway, didn‘t realize it but it has a sequel!!! Yay!!! Downloading it now so I can start it on my drive home :)

pickCas is a teenaged ghost killer who tracks down malevolent spirits and sends them on using an ancient blade he inherited from his father. When he encounters Anna, a ghost who wears a gown that is sopping wet with blood, he‘s prepared to kill her. But an unexpected desire to find out more about her leads him to discover that his calling is not what he‘s been led to believe. Best for middle grade/YA readers who want just a bit of gore.
This is a great book for this time of year.

pickFirst spooky read of October, done! I was hooked the moment I read this blurb on IG. For a horror fan, it was pretty difficult to not start reading it immediately. Also, I love the cover art, its fantastic. Now onto d story, I loved Blake's writing, d story is engaging and keeps you sucked in. As for the creepy quotient, it does manage to scare you at some points. What pleased me that it was not a repetitive horror story involving a bunch of kids.
