This was an engaging and fun read with plenty of adventure and action and likable main characters. There were times when the continuity of the world-building stuttered a little, but overall a fun pick.
This was another #NewYearWhoDis pick, so thanks for the recommendation @Cupcake12 & for the match @monalyisha !!
Today's #libraryhaul is all Litsy's fault - mostly books for #NewYearWhoDis along with two for January's #AuthoroftheMonth , Fredrick Backman (actually have never read one of his books!) January's TBR is already stacking up!!
@Cupcake12 @Soubhiville
Super excited about participating in #NewYearWhoDis with my match @Cupcake12 !! I haven't even heard of a couple of these, so I am excited to explore some new books!! Do any of you see a favorite here??
My current read!
Absolutely loving this book so far!
It's full of adventure, talking Mechanimals and thrilling twists.
I've already fallen in love with Malkin the mechanical fox! ☆☆☆☆☆
It's like a combination of Neil Gaiman's Coraline & Stardust but leaning more into steampunk and with space pirates. Also! Why do we as readers and writers under use space pirates?! As an adult reading middle grade, this is quite predictable. For the target audience, this would be a good read with good morals, lovable characters. There's nothing graphically violent but it's darker and has an eerie feeling for most of the book. Solid Halloween read.
The Merciful Crow just wasn't keeping my attention so I'm gonna give this a shot
Cogwheels, mechanicals, airships, mechanimals,...
Perfect middle-grade steampunk adventure.

Not sure which prompt I'll file this u der, yet.
Thank you, @Leniverse - great pick, my little E is looking forward to reading it, while the big E has decided to get the German edition from the library (lazy teenager).
@mcipher - Thank you so much for a wonderful #staycationintime box!! I love the Victorian/steampunk theme! The books are perfect, the candle smells amazing (and yes—seems very Victorian!), & I‘m so excited about the teas! I‘m already wearing the necklace—it matches the skirt I‘m wearing.😊The caramels look yummy, and I‘ll be sure to record my steampunk adventures in the journal.😉 Also—such cute wrapping paper!! Hope your box arrived okay?
Mid-week update for #BFCR3 #TeamLetsDoThis @CocoReads @Reecaspieces @Moony @imabusybee @CaroPi @jb72 @Eeyore031370 @LibrarianJen @britt_brooke @wanderinglynn
Several trips to the DIY store, especially to the shelves at the very back of the large shop, have made Monday and Tuesday a real success. Today is a little laid-back. Met some friends for breakfast, spent the afternoon reading, but there will be another trip to the DIY store later.

@DeweysReadathon can I still join? Didn't know about the #reversereadathon until I checked Litsy this morning.
As it is, I've already read for 2.5 hours this morning.
Lazy day today. I needed it. 5k steps so far. Not bad, actually, for a lazy day.
Got some reading time, made plum crumble and finished the fingerless mittens - inspired by the tagged book.

Second day with lots of steps (my average is 5k), hardly any reading, and a lot of active minutes.
I bought a coffee plant today and, of course, had to put it into a mug. 😁
Week 6 might become my most active week.

Not quite sure what I'm enjoying more right now: Sitting outside at 31°C but there's a breeze that is blowing at my fabric panels. I have iced oat-milk coffee, incense sticks, and -last but not least- a middle grade steampunk story.

#BBRC @LibrarianRyan
I'm tired. Last night was too warm, too short.
I've managed a little over an hour of reading so far. I'm a bit disappointed, but my help kept me from reading.

#audiowalk happened before 8am. #BFCR2 #TeamFlow @CocoReads @Reecaspieces @Moony @imabusybee @laurenslibrary @LibrarianJen @britt_brooke @wanderinglynn
#photochallenge - workout equipment: my body in comfortable clothes
Good Morning Littens!
Windows wide open. Eggs fried. Strong builder's tea made (sans sucre).
Let the #readathon begin.
#24B4Monday @TheReadingMermaid @Andrew65
#audiowalk will happen in about an hour and then it's reading and hiding from the heat for the rest of the day.
Managed to read over 16 hours within the official 48 hour time frame. It was 18.5 hours if I use my local time, CEST, as reference points. I'm sure I could have done 24 hours with an intriguing audiobook. That means, better planning next time.
Finished 4 books, made progress on three more.
Thank you @24in48 for the #24in48 #readathon. I had a wonderful self-care weekend.
#Hour6 #photochallenge #24in48 is #SFF
Well, I have quite a lot of SFF books. I picked a few from my bedroom shelves and am hiding behind the tagged book that I'm intending to read this weekend - all your great posts make me rethink my TBR choices for this weekend though.
@24in48
My current view.
I thought it was hay-fever with a bit of a cold. Now it's the other way round. Gah! Can I get a break? Stat! I hate being ill all the time.
Might get some reading done, though.
On top of all the reading I'm doing already. 😉
Off day. I'm feeling "meh". Will not make my step count today. Might not even read much.
Oh well.
My son loaned me the tagged book because I got the second in the series from NetGalley.com.

Great little read. Had me on the edge of my seat at some points. Fabulous concept.
I really enjoyed Cogheart - a great mix of adventure, steampunk and betrayal. A bit violent but most real adventures are. Photo featuring my pretty boy Zeus 🐶. #dogsoflitsy
Adorable! See my review at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2516727690?book_show_action=false&from_rev...
Much needed after ugly cry from the last book! Oh yeah, homemade lemonade‘s included! #foodoflitsy #yummy
'Murder, mayhem and mystery meet in this gripping Victorian adventure'
I loved this! Our year 6 classes read it and the kids raved so I thought I'd try it. Really enjoyed if and I brought the next one! :)
I loved this book so much more than I anticipated! It‘s such a rich world and the plot is intense and exciting. There‘s so much going on, the characters are really well drawn and the whole thing is perfectly paced. This book is great fun and I can‘t wait to read the next instalment.
🦊🦊🦊🦊 This book was delightful! It's a kid's book, just so you know, but it was a wonderful adventure story. I liked it very much.
Seth and I just finished this story set in steampunk, Victorian England. We both enjoyed it though for the age it's aimed at (I'd say 10+) we'd perhaps have liked a bit more back story about the intriguing mechanicals and mechanimals. It's an unusual, gripping story despite a couple of brutal parts which were perhaps passed over a little too quickly. We're excited to read the follow up - Moonlocket - next. (Covers are gorgeous too) #raisingreaders
I wish I'd had this stack to choose from when I was 9! After lots of discussion we decided to start with Cogheart #raisingreaders
Peter Bunzl's debut fantasy novel for children aged 12+ is a solid steampunk adventure with a strong main character, some great world building and genuinely creepy scenes but it's hampered by two-dimensional antagonists and guessable twists.
