DNF at 26%.
After 4 stories, I only enjoyed 1.
This isn‘t my usual genre. But it‘s not so foreign that I should have such difficulty getting through a Best Of anthology.
I was looking forward to finding some new authors.
I‘m disappointed.

Any anthology with Charlie Jane Anders, Ted Chiang, Maria Dahvana Headley, and *cough* Salman Rushdie *cough* has got my attention, and this didn't disappoint. The closing story (The Great Silence by Ted Chiang) in particular will stick with me for awhile.
Day 18 #AprilBookShowers #onthenightstand So you know how you are supposed to be listening on a conference call but you decide that your nightstand (top right) is too plain & boring so you play around w/ arty filters & then decide to just show them all for the prompt? Maybe it's just me. I usually have a cookbook or 2, things I read in small doses before bed-short stories, P&P, Les Mis (the 🔍is for its teeny print), candles & a tall lamp!😀📚
Ha. Dig it. KJF, talking about why someone might read nonfiction instead of fiction. Or, I should just say: Exactly.
I finished this one during the holidays. It's a great collection with a lot of variety and good authors. Very solid. I enjoyed this year's better than the last. #scifi #sff #sciencefiction #fantasy #shortstories
For your short fiction needs, the January 2017 issue of WIRED magazine has 11 tales from the future. I know at least one N. K. Jemison's "The Evaluators," can be read for free on Wired's website. I read it there yesterday and it was good.
Only the second-ever Science Fiction & Fantasy volume from this annual series, we couldn't be happier to read this year's installment! Edited by Santa Cruz local, best-selling author Karen Joy Fowler, The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2016 includes stories published this year from some of our favorite authors, including Kelly Link, Catheryenne M.
