I've been meaning to re-read this book.
Enjoyed it just as much this time around, with the added bonus of Screwtape's speech.

“It‘s funny how mortals always picture us putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out.” This collection of letters, written by C.S. Lewis after sitting through a less than inspiring sermon, will stir your soul with conviction and self reflection while capturing your imagination. #52challenge #christianbooks
My all time favorite book:
The Screwtape Letters is on-sale for just $2.99 on Amazon/Kindle for 24hrs, 12/14-12/15.
I‘ve had the tagged since 7th or 8th grade-so around 1987. Haven‘t read it yet but I plan to. Soon! 😂

August recap in book reviews:
What a plot! This book is a series of letters written in the perspective of a demon to his nephew on how to manipulate the human mind. CS Lewis had a very big and creative imagination.
Rating: 5/5

Starting a new audible for bible study and I‘m excited for this! 😊
Continuing on my CS Lewis ( and Narnia) immersion before going to the Wade Center at Wheaton College to hear Patti Callahan Henry‘s author event for her upcoming book, Once Upon A Wardrobe.
On the dust jacket of my library book is written, "Somewhere in the inferno there must be considerable annoyance" - NYT.
3.9⭐️ These collection of letters are a interesting way to explain how a human soul can be corrupted. The letters are written to a tempter from hell. The letters are from his uncle Screwtape, and executive of hell, as a way to help guide the corruption of a man‘s soul. It‘s a super interesting read, and I‘m glad I read it. However, I‘m glad it ended when it did. Even the author felt that he could not write anymore letters.
Oh man, I had a hard time staying awake while reading this one. I kept on going because I wanted to know if Wormwood succeeded or not. I also kept on telling myself, “it‘s not long at all, so it should be over soon.” Well, it took me 3 days to read 118 pages. 😔 🤦🏽♀️
It‘s interesting and made me think about some things, but it really wasn‘t for me.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive collection. No description. No explanation. Some will be old. Some will be new. Don't judge me. I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 13

Another audio compliments of Audible.
I enjoyed this pov. It made me focus on everyday situations that I normally just let pass by. It changed the way I thought I should think about the Spiritual realm and how temptation works.
C.S Lewis is a brilliant writer and his imagination always takes me by surprise. He just see things differently.
I'd love to own an actually copy of this book and read it as well.
Day 6 of 7: Books that made a lasting impression on me
I read this book many years ago at my dad‘s recommendation and discussed it with him. It made me much more thoughtful about the way I considered religion and my own faith. I wanted to include it in this list, but I felt it was due a reread. So today I listened to the audiobook and again often found it making me think seriously about points presented.

@Buechersuechtling here is my favorite book with a name in the title! I am not sure how to play the i spy game on line but thanks for letting me try!!😁
I reread this book with my ladies bible study. It has been delightful to study each letter together. In my personal opinion, satire is where CS Lewis really shines.
1. I work days so the only time I usually get to read is late at night, so every book keeps me up way too late.
2. The Screwtape Letters. It was labeled as christian literature. I didn't think it would be my kind of book, but it turned out to be wonderful.
3. No dust jacket

My church lady bible study is doing a book study this semester. We are going through The Screwtape Letters. I am so excited! This is my favorite quote from the first letter.

🙂
Perfect Saturday evening, delving into C.S. Lewis books, starting with The Screwtape Letters.
I have always heard good things about this one, but I have to admit, I was surprised by how clever it was. Lewis has a way of describing all these terrible behaviors in a way that is supposed to sound "encouraging" (as one evil creature describes them to another). As I read it, however, I found myself thinking, Ugh, I totally do that and I should stop. It was so well done, and gave me so many things to think about. Glad I finally read it.
I found this book surprisingly enjoyable. By that I mean I don't consider myself a very religious person, so Christian literature isn't my usual choice. However, I found this very amusing and insightful. 4 💥💥💥💥 out of 5

We are doing a major cleaning/rearranging/decluttering which I have just decided to chronicle with a #randombooks tag.
“The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis entered my world, because of a friend who challenged me during a debate on religion.
This book was a beautiful, harsh reminder of what "Not God" really looks like. This came along at a wonderful time for my spiritual growth, and I have SO MANY challenging ideas to think about after reading it. I love Lewis's style, too - his clever wit combined with the truth of the human condition is just as likely to make me wince at my own actions as it is to make me laugh at how silly we can be.
Congrats @Nessavamusic on your Litsy milestone! My tagged book is the book of my choice. I would love a fantasy book 😀 #10kLaborDayGiveaway

I keep reading, even other books by CS Lewis, but this is still my favorite by far.

C. S. Lewis is credited with one of my favorite quotes. #MeaningfulQuote #NewYearReads @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @bookloo
"I sometimes wonder whether you think you have been sent into the world for your own amusement."
"...a miles de humanos se les ha hecho pensar que la humildad significa mujeres bonitas tratando de creer que son feas y hombres inteligentes tratando de creer que son tontos."
"No dejes de insistir acerca de la «normalidad» de las cosas" – Escrutopo #cartaI
I should have read this a long time ago. What an interesting interpretation of spiritual warfare. Love
First published in 1942. Unfortunately this is as true as when C.S. Lewis wrote it all those years ago. We are doing our best to raise our daughter & son to be wise to this.
My local big library book sale preview happened tonight! $10 donation gets first look and first purchase . @KellyMuser and I scoured the tables for some interesting finds. Mine was the Folio boxed publication of The Screwtape Letters - bottom of the stack. And the $1 CDs! 📚🤓👯♂️😊
My husband received this as a college graduation gift years ago. It became my favorite book. Reading it now for the third time to enjoy it again.
C.S. Lewis was NOT English. He was from #NorthernIreland. Here are a few of my #IrishAuthors for #MarchIntoReading .
