This short and sweet book would make a good graduation gift. It‘s not actually a book, it‘s the transcript of a convocation address delivered by George Saunders at Syracuse University in 2014. His main message is be kind, which is good advice for all of us.
Day 11 - #Kindness #ForeverNovember
#CongratulationsByTheWaySomeThoughtsOnKindness #GeorgeSaunders
Three months after George Saunders gave a graduation address at Syracuse University, a transcript of that speech was posted on the website of The New York Times, where its simple, uplifting message struck a deep chord. Because Saunders‘s words tap into a desire in all of us to lead kinder, more fulfilling lives. Powerful, funny, and wise.
Brief but salient; the perfect Saunders reminder that kindness is that which really brings us together. It is something that is so easy to lose sight of in the busy, ambitious world, but that is never regrettable.
God, I am a sucker for these kinds of books. But Saunders‘s really is a gem. Be kind, people. Be kind people. Nothing else matters.

A commencement address turned into a quick read of a book designed for gift giving and heartening to the recent graduate. Saunders is a wonderful writer and a reminder about being kind particularly as you grow older is worthwhile.
Congrats to @TheBookKeepers on 1k followers.
Congrats on the milestone @erinreads ! What a great list! Several of these are on my best of 2017, too. The two I‘ve circled are books that keep getting lost in my massive TBR. Maybe having a physical copy will give them a fighting chance! Thanks for putting on this #50kgiveaway ! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you @erinreads for this fantastic giveaway and kudos to you for reaching your goal! #50kgiveaway I want to read both of these books because of all the Litsy love and #blameitonthecover too! 😉😀📚
Congratulations @erinreads ! Thanks for the giveaway❤️! I‘ve tagged these two that I don‘t own because I‘ve heard so many good things about them both on Litsy and on podcasts. I‘m excited to read both. #50kgiveaway Book people are awesome! 📚💕
Listened to the audio version of this, as narrated by the author. The piece is quite short, only a little over twelve minutes, but I wanted to take off my headset the whole time and go find a hard copy to read. There is something about George Saunders‘ voice that I found to be annoying; he really should stick to writing. This commencement speech really was lovely, and would have been moreso had it not been a speech but was instead an essay.
Knocked this out real quick at work tonight.. Umm super quick read, not terrible, just not what I thought it would be ✌🏻 . Back into the bins you go!
Congratulations to @britt_brooke on reaching this Litsy milestone!!!! 🎉👏👏🎈 AND she‘s giving away three of her favorite books to celebrate! Just re-post this pic, tag her and you might win a book! 📚📚📚#150kgiveaway
Yay!!!! My first time to participate in the Goodreads challenge....maybe I lowballed it a little bit?! 😜😂 Maybe shoot for 75-100 next year?! 🎉🎉👏📚📚
Devoured in mere minutes. A fantastic commencement speech transcribed into a 65 page book. Loved! 💕💜
A transcript of a convocation address given by George Saunders at Syracuse University, with some humor and much honesty:
"What I regret most in my life are failures of kindness."
Simple yet important words of wisdom for everyone.
"Find out what makes you kinder ... and go after those things as if nothing else matters.
Because actually, nothing else does."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
My feed is full of stopwatches! Well done #24in48 readathoners 😊 Now, you all can sleep 😉😉
"And so, a prediction, and my heartfelt wish for you: as you get older, your self will diminish and you will grow in love. YOU will gradually be replaced by LOVE."

Warmed my little heart on a rainy morning
