I don‘t know why I like reading books set in winter during the winter but I do. And I really enjoyed this book. It wasn‘t an easy read, at least for me. I really liked Maija, a mother, a survivor and an overall take charge and do what needs to be done woman. I really enjoyed this book! It was an interesting weaving of unlikely characters as they come together to preserve history in the sleepy little village of Chawton immediately following the Second World War. They all have their own trauma to work through and are avid readers, especially of Austen, which brings them together. Definitely recommend! #arc #thejaneaustensociety #may2020

I really enjoyed this book! It was quite different from anything I‘ve read - format wise. There‘s no plot that I figured out, it‘s more a revelation of facts and occurrences and what happens in post-Georgian flu world to a specific collection of people. I don‘t know how else to explain it. The characters are compelling. The writing thought provoking! I suspect I‘ll be thinking of this book for quite some time... 4 ⭐️s

I enjoyed this medieval romance. And I really enjoy the narrator, Nicholas Boulton! Unlikable heroines are hard, but I liked Melanthe. I like that in this book it wasn‘t a tortured hero but a deeply damaged heroine that had to find her way. And it was dark, and I enjoyed that too! #medievalromance #octoberread

This one got off to a bit of a slow start for me. It took awhile for the three stories to tie together but I love time-slip novels and I find sometimes they require a bit of patience. I loved the medieval part of the story the best. I was captivated by Elizabeth and Craven‘s story. The style reminded me a bit of Susanna Kearsley. And the narrators did an excellent job! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I really enjoyed this book! In order to survive the harsh slums of Paris in the late 19th century, sisters Antoinette and Marie face harsh choices. It broke my heart at times.
