This was a very entertaining suspense romance, taking place at a research station in the Antarctic. It dragged a bit at times so 4⭐️

So... this one was just okay for me. I don't know why romantic suspense doesn't do it for me, but this did not break my trend of so/so reads for the genre. It probably didn't help that I didn't find the hero all that attractive, and didn't really bond with the heroine or care about the plot. I kind of wanted the virus to get out, because obviously I'm evil.

An enjoyable adventure romance meets thriller plotline about a virus that will continue throughout the series.
Angel Smith is the cook at an Antarctica research station - but when she thwarts bad guys with quick thinking, she and glaciologist Ford Cooper escape across the most desolate continent fighting for survival.
The adventure is good, the thriller unfinished but Ford acts like an emotionally constipated idiot especially in the second half.

While I do like romantic suspense I generally prefer it to be over a solid length of time vs a few weeks (or days). But it was a solid read, and the Antarctic setting was unique (and sounds like the literal worst).

A fun romantic suspense survival story set on Antarctica. I decided on a whim to read it after listening to Fated Mates podcast (S03.36). The romance is slowburn-to-steamy, but the suspenseful adventure was what kept me turning pages. I really loved the feeling of heart-pounding anxiety I had for these characters. The plot is a little wonky but still it was a fast, fun read. Exactly what I wanted after my detail-heavy previous book.

What a refreshingly different novel! One part thriller, one part adventure story, one part romance; this story has it all! And the characters are compelling and keep you reading to race to the end; throw in a #dangerbang for the win! Was a bit strange to be reading a thriller set in Antarctica during the Texas #snowpacalypse but it felt right to read it while bundled up with a snow covered view.

A decent thriller/survival/romance (first in the Survival Instincts series). Fairly predictable and sometimes unbelievable I think what I enjoyed the most was the author‘s description/sense of place for the setting of a research station on the South Pole...I could almost feel the bone-deep cold and harsh conditions. My favorite character was the cook, Angel, who came into her own and was basically the hero. 4/5⭐️

Bookzombie I enjoyed this one, but totally agree about it being predictable and sometimes unbelievable. I will probably read the next one though. 🙂 4y

The first half was 5 stars for me! The setting was described in such a way as to show me a startlingly vivid picture. I thought that the plight of the MC‘s was realistically detailed and scary as hell! Where things started to go astray wasn‘t the romance, that was intense if not a little cliché. It was the conspiracy theory plot. I couldn‘t take it remotely seriously after a while. Overall, it was quite a thrilling book, if a little outlandish.

robinb Good review! Totally agree! 4y
AmyReadsAlot @robinb I liked your review too, great minds think alike. You thinking of reading the next book in the series? I have it on my tbr because I loved the setting of this one and I‘m going for that same sense of wonder. 😀 4y
robinb @GenreMinxReviews I wouldn‘t mind reading it. And yes, she definitely made you feel like you were there. The first half was better than the last. The whole virus plot didn‘t do much for me. Maybe I‘m tired of viruses in general?! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

AmyReadsAlot @robinb too right! It might be a book I don‘t pick up right away. I‘ll probably wait a bit but I definitely see myself picking up book 2. 4y

In short, meh. The cold is brutal. I know what 60 below is and I'd have little will to survive let alone romance. Well written in a pace sense, but couldn't care less about the #romantsy. Too long, hate a switch of POV in final chapters.

Anyone know when book 2 is coming out? Although it‘s a little freaky to be reading about virus as a bio weapon considering current events. This was much different than the Blank Canvas series but I enjoyed the action movie feel of it.

An exhilarating #romantsy set in Antarctica. Angel is the chef at a research station and Ford is a grumpy scientist who finds a virus sample in the ice. They end up being chased across the ice by bad guys who want the ice cores and fall in love along the way.

I enjoyed this one, which I was an #arc I was lucky to get from #netgalley. I don‘t know why I like reading books with a cold, frigid winter setting when I‘m living winter in real time, but I do! Action packed right to the end. Loved reading about a research station in Antarctica! Well fleshed out characters! Great pacing! #romanticsuspense

I'm reading the start of Adriana Anders' Survival Insticts series. I usually avoid entertainment with people having to survive in extreme cold conditions (weirdly a big fear of mine), but I really enjoy this author. I'm giving it a go. #survivorromance #romantsy #romanticsuspense

nitalibrarian I did NOT watch the movie The Mountain Between Us. No way, no how. 5y
robinb @nitalibrarian 🤣🤣I enjoyed the movie (especially watching Idris Elba!) 😍 5y
nitalibrarian @robinb - I just can't get myself to watch people surviving in the cold like that. I stayed home “sick“ on the 2 days my psychology class in high school watched the movie Alive - about the stranded rugby players in the Andes mountains. 😬 5y
robinb @nitalibrarian I must admit there were some pretty intense scenes...I know what you mean. 👍 5y
