panThis wasn‘t my favorite but I‘m not sure why. I couldn‘t ever decide if I was supposed to like the FMC or if I just thought she was vapid and a bit immature. While I do like the fake dating trope, this one got crazy really quickly, and wasn‘t very believable to me.

A trip to Ireland results in even scarier acts against her. When bodily harm seems to be the next logical step of the escalation, a surprising hint leads them to a resolution. A surprisingly good book if a little slow ⬇️
pickI've had this on my TBR shelf for absolutely ages so decided this year was the one, & I wish I'd read it earlier. The synopsis really doesn't convey how creepy the story is & there are one or two good twists. The only weak point I thought was the conclusion, I could see what the author was aiming for but it could have been a bit stronger.

pickMy favorite in the series so far, and Three Pines was barely in it! Chief inspector Gamache and his wife are celebrating their anniversary at Manoir Bellechasse, just over the mountain range from Three Pines. Yearly visitors, this visit coincides with the Morrow family reunion, including the Gamache‘s friends from Three Pines, Peter and Clara. The last book hinted at Peter‘s dark side. When a Morrow is killed, is Peter to blame or another ⬇️
panIf I had to choose one word for how I felt while reading this series of books, I think it would be “baffled.“ These characters constantly made decisions that made no sense. The narrative frequently made no sense. The motivations made pretty much no sense. A few samples: two grown adults have a “cheesecake fight“ in the kitchen ruining the desert and dinner party they're attending (after the FMC starts EATING IT WITH HER BARE HANDS?!); two people ⬇
