Just picked up some stocking fillers for Christmas. These twisted tales give a dark new spin on some Disney classics such as Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.
Looking forward to these. 😁

We don‘t do thanksgiving here in England, obviously, but for those of you who do celebrate it, have a great one.
As a writer, the main thing I remember to be thankful for is having wonderful readers to connect with and share stories. 🦃💕
My daughter is completely obsessed with this book series, and I can‘t blame her. We read aloud every night and my Viking accent is getting better.
Very different to the movie adaptation but equally wonderful and fun

This blurb isn‘t about the book of Eve, but this authors newest work, the Forest, which is a tale of old magic and curses (but isn‘t listed on here yet)
It comes with an author recommendation from myself on the cover, so you know I like it 👍🏻
I love Gaiman, and he writes equally well for children and adults alike.
This edition of Odd and the Frost Giants is a classic and adventurous tale, and beautifully illustrated throughout
Here is Let the Old Dreams Die, by John Ajvide Lindquist, who you may know more as the writer who brought us the wonderful Let The Right One In, which is one of my all time favourite, most chilling and most touching vampire stories.
If you ever wondered what happened to Oskar and Eli from that story, you can find out here in this collection of stories about love and death, and what happens when the two collide. Haunting, poignant and chilling.
Heads up Helsings.

With Halloween approaching, looking for a dark and gothic adventure, filled with vampires, murders, dangerous science and armsloads of attitude, then good news, as Crescent Moon, book two of my Harkness series is in my publishers weekly 0.99 book deals.
.
With book three literally about to chop an axe through the door and scream ‘here‘s Johnny!‘ In your face, it‘s a good time to play catch up while there‘s still time.
Had the great pleasure of being interviewed over digital coffee recently by the lovely @beckywrightauthor . 🖤 link in her bio over on Insta or copypaste: https://beckywrightauthorblog.wordpress.com/blog-2/

1st September read! Freddie Watson, grieving the loss of his brother in the war is caught in a snowstorm and takes refuge in an isolated village and there meets a beautiful, captivating woman. They spend a night talking of love and loss and war. But by daybreak, Fabrissa has vanished and Freddie realised he holds the key to an ancient mystery that leads him deep into the mountains, to a cave that has concealed an appalling secret for 700 years.
Changing my profile pic.
(Only because I was tired of having completely different profile pics across various other social media.) Made me feel a bit like I had multiple personalities 😝.
.
Plus the old one was at least a year out of date and I‘m older, greyer and grumpier now 😁.

A cookbook based on the works of #janeausten ? Yes please. Combines my two best loves of books and food.
.
Which got me to thinking, what book you love would make for a terrible recipe book?.
.
The fall of the soufflé of Usher? The Tell-tale Tart? Fear and Lemoncake in Las Vegas? Of Mice and Meringues? Let me know your tasty offerings ?.
They says dogs and owners end up looking alike. Wonder if that‘s true about authors and their books? (And if so thank goodness I don‘t write a series about deep-sea blobfish.) #fantasyrules #fantasybooks #changelingseries #booklover #bookish #allthingsfaerie
Hello September!
.
Do months have a colour to you? They do to me. October is definitely pumpkin Orange, November is a deep dark blue, but September is a rich gold.
Have an excellent one, readers and writers x

This book is an absolute masterwork in my opinion. Gritty, harrowing, oddly dreamlike and building suspense and foreboding brick by menacing brick until the whole wall comes crashing down on you like a midnight storm.
The main character from my Changeling book series, Robin Fellows, has taken over my IG stories for the next 24 hours and is holding a Q&A, so if you wanted to ask him something about his journey, life at Erlking, or the dangers of the Netherworlde, feel free to pop over @Jamesfahyauthor 👍🏻 #fantasybooks #britishauthor #character
Here are the first 3 volumes in my 7 book fantasy saga Changeling.
Isle of Winds, The Drowned Tomb and Chains of Gaia are all available kindle and paperback from Amazon, and will soon by joined by book 4
If you like epic fantasy, magic and a war between two worlds, I‘d love you to visit Erlking 💚

Are we friends on instagram? If not, why not? I‘m on there a hell of a lot more than I am on here, so come find me and say hi 👋
“Nothing is miserable unless you think it so; and on the other hand, nothing brings happiness unless you are content with it.”.

The Consolation of Philosophy is a philosophical work
.
More amusingly, you can usually find it in the ‘self-help‘ section, along with the Little Book of Calm and 5 day lentil detox etc. 😊.
.
It‘s a good read, and this particular quote resonates with me as I completely agree with it.
My flat was a shambolic mess. For a moment I wondered if Gio and his vampire clan had come round last night and turned the place over, maybe looking for me or the mystery files, but then I remembered it always looked like this. I really had to get around to tidying.‘
A truth that's told with bad intent Beats all the lies you can invent - William Blake
I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road. - Stephen Hawking
Adore this. I have quite a few signed books, but Alan Lee is my favourite Tolkien illustrator 💕
The past always seems better when you look back on it than it did at the time. And the present never looks as good as it will in the future. It's depressing if you spend too much time reliving old joys. You think you'll never have anything as good again.
.
Jaws has some very good lines 👌🏻
Happy May!
Throwing a tag out #batteredbooks
I‘m not precious about paperbacks (or hardbacks for that matter) I think it‘s a compliment to a book that it looks well-loved, many times read and creased all up to hell. Cracked spines, dog-eared pages, leaves held together will sticky-tape. All signs to me that a book has been read to death. I love it when I see one of my own book I‘ve written in this manner, it means I‘ve done my job as a writer
#facebehindtheaccount tag. Feel free to grab it.
It‘s the last day of April, woot!
What are your reading plans for May?
Do you read horror? If so what was your first swim in that dark lake? My first King novel, many many moons ago, was Carrie and I still love it
Unique and interesting spin on the legends surrounding Salem. (My fuller thoughts are over on IG where I‘m allowed a much higher wordcount- I like to ramble 😋)
“We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.” ...
Shout out for this lovely book by my good friend the Australian author Nadia King.
Jenna‘s Truth is a short and powerful price about bullying and it‘s effects, and I‘m happy to be one of those championing it in the endpapers. Go seek it out 👍🏻
What‘s one of your favourite more obscure fairy tales?
The Frog and the Fickle Prince is one of mine
Big ole stack of signed copies of various of my books, waiting to go out to those lovely people who ordered them 👍🏻 I don‘t do signed copies very often, but I may offer this in the future too 💕
This was so enjoyable. Touching, tragic and triumphant 👌🏻
I love love love manga. Fruits basket is one of my all time favourites 👌🏻
Happy Easter, Litterns.
Hope you all have a happy day filled with treats 💕
“Begin at the beginning," the King said, very gravely, "and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”
Good advice for all of us
I‘ve never met any writing by this author that I didn‘t love. And this collection of short stories, loosely themed around nightfall and music, are no exception.
Elegant, simple and beautiful
I‘m not reviewing the book listed, but rather this book, which is a biography of the author.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, and considering I usually veer away from any kind of biog, that‘s saying something.
This book has good pace, and shed some insightful light on a character I knew very little about
What are you reading this weekend? I picked this up in Oxford the other week and am looking forward to dipping In 👍🏻 happy Sunday Litterns 💕
RT: I‘m offering author-signed copies of any and all of my books. (Limited time)
To find out how to get your hands on one, visit my instagram latest post @jamesfahyauthor 💕
(Because there isn‘t enough room with Litsy character limit to explain how it works) 😁

‘On 7th March 1665, the English navy‘s prized warship ‘The London‘ dramatically exploded, killing 300 men and women. It marked the beginning of eighteen months of horror in England. In rapid succession, the country was struck by the Great Plague, the eruption of the Second Anglo-Dutch War, and the Great Fire of London.

'no Light without Darknesse
no Substance without Shaddowe'
So proclaims Nicholas Dyer, assistant to Sir Christopher Wren, with a commission to build seven London churches to stand as beacons of the enlightenment. But Dyer plans to conceal a dark secret at the heart of each church - forbidding architecture that will survive for eternity. 250 years later, detective Nicholas Hawksmoor is investigating a series of gruesome murders on the same sites.
‘What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing.‘
‘Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.‘
Lewis is one of my most quotable writers and finest inspirations for my own fantasy writings, and this book, despite popular opinion, is by far my favourite of the Narnia series

The problem with hype is that it can ruin a book by raising your expectations much higher than if you‘d just stumbled across the book with no preconceptions. So many people gushed about this book to me, that perhaps it was impossible for it to live up to what I expected. It was...okay. But it didn‘t ‘destroy me‘ or ‘leave me hollow‘. In fact I found the ending quite patronising and flat. But the rest of the book was an interesting ride at least
