This was a Waterstones book of the month, cast as a thriller... I did enjoy it, but I felt that I was slightly mis-sold the story. It was being pitched as "Agatha Christie at the end of the world", but turned into "walking dead style survival story, character driven but without the zombies".
So yeah, a good read, but slightly deceptive!

Dark, twisted, sad, harrowing.... What's not to love...
Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1888454967
Wow, that was pretty brutal. Great but brutal.
It dissected high school culture whilst wrenching you guts out, forcing you to hope, then punching you in the face...
A definite recommendation...

Boys will be boys.... This says so much about the world we're living in.... 😢📖
I'm dreading to think how she is so aware of this....
Loving this book, so dark and ominous...
Omg... I has the feels...
This was gorgeous. I absolutely loved every single thing about it, from Natasha's headphones to Daniel's ponytail :) awesome!
Started really well. It's great when a book describes places you're familiar with 😀
And kitty company is always welcome! 😻📖

Just starting this one. Part of the #readharder2017 challenge "book set within 100 miles of your location"...
Really enjoyable and unexpected.
A woman who has BPD (borderline personality disorder) survives a suicide attempt, becoming a double amputee in the process. A year later she is recruited into the mysterious Arcadia Project, which turns out to be managing fey & human relations. Mix in some thrills, hollywood backstabbing and quite a few funny one liners, and you've got yourself a rather good book, with room for sequels.

Gorgeous! Beautifully written. Full of hope and determination. Very sad in places, but with a wonderful sense of self to get through it all.
It has made me want to read her other book too!

Oh my word! This was amazing... Once I had got into it i loved it. Beautiful, hopeful, sad, angry, depressing, sweet. I don't know how to explain how much I loved it! My first 5 star book of 2017....

Anyone else not really get on with this? I must be missing something....
Going through my Netgalley backlist, this should tick a couple of reading challenge boxes...

I really didn't like it at all to begin with I just found the characters (Colin especially) really irritating and self absorbed. Then it got better, despite the bizarre premise that 2, 17/18 year olds would be taken in by a random family to live... Anyhoo, once Lindsey was introduced it got more interesting. Slightly predictable but cute. It was heading for 2 stars until the hornet & graveyard incidents!

I did really enjoy this. It was a little on the long side but worth the effort. It did feel like 2 different stories, the first leading up to Diana finding magic, the second more in the "supernatural" world. The characters were enjoyable, and I loved Marthe and Marcus.
I've heard the second book isn't as good as this one, but I will give it a go.

I just didn't enjoy this. It was written in a strange poetic way that I didn't enjoy or connect with. You could feel the grief and frustration of all the characters, but the style made it really difficult for me.
It wasn't bad enough to pan, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't enjoy poetry. It felt like something that you're forced to analyse in a literature class!!

This is one of those books I've been meaning to read for a long time. I'm so glad i finally got round to it!
It reminded me a little of Game Of Thrones, with the Joffrey and Cersei type characters as well as hints of Divergent, with Mare being similar to Tris. BUT it all worked. Twists and turns, crossing and double crossing. Great! Looking forward to the next one :)

I absolutely loved this, right until the end. There was a surprise twist, which I didn't see coming - which was great. BUT the "who" didn't make sense to me. Everything else was fantastic, i just couldn't get my head around that one "little" thing.
Worth reading for everything else (including torture) :)

I really liked how this sounded, I hadn't heard any hype , it just took my fancy. I wasn't disappointed.
The story is a psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns. You're never quite sure what really happened, who to believe, or what's coming next. I thought it all unfolded really nicely with a few unexpected things along the way.
Really enjoyed it!
