#NetGalley #ARC #MountARC

I was lucky to get an #audiobook ARC for the 12th Lady Hardcastle Mystery, Pub Day 6th May.

Do I read the books for the cosy mystery? No. I'm here for all the characters and the banter, especially between Maid Florence Armstrong and Lady Hardcastle. I was absolutely not disappointed. Loved every minute of the story and the audiobook!

Chinese folk tales inspired NA fantasy romance (?) - or older YA romantasy (?) with a pinch of 🌶️

An okay read. A bit too much telling for me. Also, very predictable.

On the plus side, bought and read within 30 hours. I'm proud of myself. 😉 Especially, since it was one of my daughter's picks. 😁

I went with a pick for this book because the last third of it was so good - but if I had based it on the first two thirds it probably would have just been ok. It just felt like a bunch of women gossiping and not much happening even though so much was happening. The last third is full of action and I couldn't put the book down! The ending was fitting for all the characters. I'll definitely be reading the third book in this series.

I so need a guy like the MMC, Ford. Just don't tell hubby. 🤫😉😅 I loved the characters and the snarky banter between them. The plot was good too if a bit slow in places. Already looking forward to book two in the series. 4🌟 #SeriesLove2025 @Andrew65 #Read2025 @DieAReader

Finished the Sunday before last for #EBBR & I need to review these right after finishing them or take notes because I promptly forgot the (2?) that stumped me & I returned the library book.🤔Ah, well… also I couldn‘t get the ebook or print from the library at first so I tried the free audible version but I find I like reading these more than listening to them so I transferred the print copy in. Fun nostalgia as always.⬇️

DebinHawaii P.S. I like the old covers of my childhood more than the more modern ones the library has. 1d

TheBookHippie I so agree about new library covers! 1d
Ruthiella I was wondering how it might be in audio. Because I am actively trying to suss out clues and inconsistencies, I do think they are better for me in print, so I can reread bits. 20h

I can't remember that Katniss was this irritating the first time I read Catching Fire. She was like a whiny child, only seeing what she wanted.

The story however was expertly executed, and gripping as ever.

On Wednesday afternoon, wealthy businesswoman Ilaria Cavendish checks into a luxury London hotel as usual. Shortly afterwards, her lover discovers her dead & submerged in a bath of scalding hot water. Accident or murder? The CCTV shows that no-one went in the room or came out during the time she was killed, so if she was murdered how did they do it?

DS Maeve Kerrigan is working on the case which is being run by DI Josh Derwent. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf This is the first time they have worked together in a while & things have been tense between them, but when he is accused of something that Maeve knows he would never do, she swings into action to clear his name.

The Cavendish case is quite interesting & a little more involved than at first sight with hints of an Agatha Christie-esque sleight of hand, however it's the case involving Josh & his interactions with Maeve which are the biggest draw.

OutsmartYourShelf I did work out what was happening early on so it was quite satisfying to see it all unfold. As for Maeve & Josh - you'll just have to read it & see for yourself. 4.5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publisher, HarperCollins UK, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

Finished this weekend for #BobWhiteBuddies there is always a chance of #Danger when Trixie Belden is around. This one was a favorite growing up probably because of the NYC setting & finally, Dan gets to go somewhere! (Granted it‘s within state lines but anyway…) I can still recite the first 2 lines of the fortune Trixie is given by a fortune teller she helps at the airport which is pretty impressive since ⬇️

DebinHawaii … I have trouble remembering where I park my car at the grocery store. “Great-headed man, with blinking eye, A shaded road, a horse‘s cry,“ after that I only remember bits & pieces of the rest of it but there is a mention of #Danger: “Where shines a beacon 'cross the sky, Beware, great danger lurks close by.” so it works for today‘s prompt. Trixie is a bit annoying in this one & does some dumb things as does the gang. ⬇️ 2d
DebinHawaii … So what do they do right after declaring they will stay together as a group to keep safe? They separate of course, giving the inept bad guys yet another chance to try to grab the statue Trixie buys. Speaking of the statue, even the adults are awfully careless with it. But still, I have much nostalgic love for this series & this book (#12 in the series), so it‘s a pick. Next up we go to Corbett‘s Island, another favorite of my youth. (edited) 2d

This Rapunzel retelling was so charming. This is the first in this series (Meant to Be) that I‘ve read. I‘ve had this on my shelf for a bit. Christina Lauren are authors I usually enjoy so this was a no brainer pick for April‘s #TBRtarot
The MCs grow, open up, struggle & get their HEA. CL respects the Tangled story while still making it uniquely their own.

This is age gap (10 years), forbidden romance where the MMC falls in love with his best friend's little sister. I liked it. It was all fluff. Yet, the author did a great job making me care about the characters. 4🌟 #SeriesLove2025 @Andrew65 #Read2025 @DieAReader
