The Postcard | Anne Berest

Re-reading this profound book for #LitsyBookClub
I listened to it earlier in the year for #EuropaCollective

This is a book that‘s going to stay with me a long time.

Anne Berest and her sister have a new book, Gabriële, about their great grandmother, coming out next year and I‘m going to put a high on my TBR

kspenmoll This was one of best books forthe year! (edited) 4d

Vampires of El Norte | Isabel Caas

Pickpick

This was more historical romance than I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. Nena is the daughter of a Mexican rancher as Anglos from the north threaten their way of life. At the same time, another supernatural danger reappears and a man from her past returns. These were a different kind of vampire, and I wanted a few more answers in the end, but it was a great October read.

A Light in the Dark: Surviving More than Ted Bundy | Emilie Le Beau Lucchesi, Kathy Kleiner Rubin

After reading Bright Young Women, I‘m glad to have also read this memoir. This is a story of survival and strength from a woman who not only survived an attack by Ted Bundy but two life threatening medical diagnoses as well. Her story starts slowly and is sometimes repetitive, but it also makes important points and speaks for the women attacked and murdered.

I appreciated the way this novel focused on the lives of the victims, rather than the murderer who is never called by name. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to keep track as the story jumped back and forth in time, but I also liked how the two storylines came together in the end. Now, I will have to do some nonfiction reading.

Book 156 of the year.

I read this with the #litsybookclub. It was very interesting and the art stolen was beautiful. I found myself going down a rabbit hole researching the art in this book.

This was an incredibly well told story of two Pakistani American teens and their families. Although the main story is when they‘re high school seniors, we learn a lot of family history for both. I felt many emotions while experiencing the lives of both Salahudin and Noor. They face some very difficult situations but come through with hope in the end.

Daisey @JazzFeathers It was really good, but it was also definitely YA. Lots of tough issues for teenagers. 5mo

Reading 📖/ Listening 🎧 to this emotional YA book for #litsyBookClub
A close-up look at Pakistani- American teens , their families, & their struggles.

Daisey I‘ve got it checked out from the library, but I haven‘t had a chance to start it yet. 5mo
tpixie @Daisey it was really good. It‘s a 10 hour audio, and even though I had it at 1.75 and 2.0 speed somehow it still took me eight hours?! Per Libby. But I started it Sunday and got done with it this morning 5mo
Daisey @tpixie I listened to half of it today, and I‘m invested in these characters. 5mo
tpixie @Daisey you‘ve been busy listening & working at the family farm!! It‘s a great cast of characters! 5mo

This was another light romance listen. I was quite amused through the first half and unsurprised by the difficulty caused by lack of communication later. Of course, it all works out in the end.

Daisey @Sharpeipup I agree, the reason for it all was an interesting twist. 7mo
