Mehso-so

I finished this over the weekend, and then I almost forgot to review it. I found some parts interesting, but overall I‘m just ambivalent about the whole thing. I will be curious to see if our book club discussion gives me any greater appreciation for it.

Ruthiella I was underwhelmed too. Which made me sad, because I loved here debut 1d

What defines a Real American?
A multigenerational story told by 3 points of view. Looking at parent- child relationships, ethnic backgrounds vs citizenship, with a slight sci- fi twist.

This book was a fascinating read. There were times I was a bit confused by the different timelines, but I was always curious to know how they would come together. It has some wonderful descriptions, and I felt so much for these characters. We also had a great book club discussion about it.

I‘m loving the language in these pages and am thoroughly intrigued by how the separate stories are going to come together.

Just started listening to The History of Love for @LitsyBookClub & I know I‘m going to love it.
The first few lines are great.
Funny thing is, the narrator, George Guidall, narrated Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower series. So I keep thinking about Stephen King. And SK would write like this also!!

Daisey I hope to get into this one this weekend! 1mo

January 2025 #BookSpinBingo
Cold, snowy weather gave me lots of reading time! I completed several MG books for the Truman preliminary list as well as several other books. I think my favorite was our #LitsyBookClub pick The Book of Doors. I‘ve also continued our long #NoPlaceLikeHolmes read and started a couple new long reads for this year. I‘m thoroughly enjoying A Tree a Day for #NaturaLitsy.

My official reading stats for 2024

As of today, these 12 books are the ones I continue to think about the most. The top row includes #1001books, #LitsyBookClub reads, a #CampLitsy read, and 1 reread for a #ShardlakeBR. I tend to focus on first time reads for my year end list, but rereading the Shardlake series must be included. The bottom row are all fantastic middle grade reads.

Liz_M I loved the nesting stories technique of Cloud Atlas! 3mo
Daisey @Liz_M It took a while for me to get into, but by the end, I also loved how it was set up. 3mo

tpixie Yes on The Postcard & Cloud Atlas. I checked out clear at the library, but had to return it before I read it. I can‘t remember how I learned about it, but maybe I need to get back to it since it made an impression on you. 2mo
Daisey @tpixie It was a #CampLitsy read so there were lots of posts about it last summer. It‘s a slim novel, but pretty powerful, although just a warning that the end is somewhat abrupt. 2mo
