Not a fan of the random tangents with the narrator‘s supposed published works. It just pulls me out of the story. I don‘t see the point of them. The language is certainly aged. Absolute over use of “can you dig it?” This dragged on way too long. This is supposed to be Gordie‘s memoir? I don‘t know why, but that made me roll my eyes. Reading this has caused me to question if I really want to see this movie or not. Sorry Wil.

Apparently the next story is the basis for Stand By Me! I had no clue this was a Stephan King story. I think I‘m going to hold off until tomorrow for this one so I can give it the proper attention.

Maybe it‘s because this series is a recent fave (I binged the first two books & my hold for the third tagged book just came in & I‘m trying to clear reading space for it this week), but I feel the core four elderly friends in the Thursday Murder Club have a definite #StandByMe vibe with each other & the friends they have picked up along the way.
They have each other‘s back “Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me…” ❤️

This story of 4 summer camp friends kept making me think of the line from #StandByMe : "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

The movies came out a few years apart, but this one reminded me a little of #standbyme in terms of kids out doing things they weren‘t supposed to be doing and encountering a dead body. #volumesandvocals
