Started this #audiobook today for #SHPL Victorian Book Club.

Super happy #SimonVance is narrating! It makes me feel like I‘m supporting him even as he‘s trying to rebuild after the California fires took his house.

This is definitely a fun book but it's really WAY out there for me. I'm struggling through it now so I think it's time to put out aside, potentially for a revisit. I've been slogging through it for easily 6 months and I just want my bookmark back...

Until we meet again, zombie Beatles and Ninja Ringo...

I have read 2 #Zombie books and have 1 on my tbr. This #Scarathlon #photochallenge is a fun look back at my shelves, what I've read. This Beatles story was an audiobook by Simon Vance narrator and he is great.

I‘m sure my interests will change throughout the month of October, but here are some of the audiobooks I‘m planning on listening to for the #Scarathlon events. Some of these will count towards the #ScaryScavengerHunt, and some just fit the #TeamSlaughter theme of Psychological, Mystery, Thrillers and Slashers!

I am so excited!!! I plan on listening to the tagged audiobook for the “Book with zombies in it” tag. Sounds quirky🧟‍♂️

Jesstifies Bone Witch & Something Wicked is on my list toooooo! 5y

With my new #audiobook obsession, I decided to trust Litsy -- and I'm trying out some audiobooks read by #simonvance. So far so good.

Megabooks I'm going though an #audiobook phase, too! 8y
Eliza-beta @Ebooksandcooks - let me know if you listen to anything you'd recommend!!! Trying to figure out what the best types of books are to listen to (i.e. Is it all about the narrator, the type of book, etc?!?) #audiobooks 8y

#funfridayphoto Zombies are not my thing. Simon Vance, however, is. For the love of his narration I've gone many unexpected places. This audiobook is the one that taught me just how hilarious he was (the others had all been very serious). I was in tears OFTEN laughing my way through this book I never would have touched in print. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of funny reads. I might just have to read it again.

The Eyre Affair: A Novel | Jasper Fforde
post image

One of life's greatest frustrations involves the ubiquity of incredible books and the scarcity of available monies to obtain said books. And you can quote me on that! 😉😎👍🏻 Has anyone ever read this series by Jasper Fforde and can provide insights as to whether to purchase installments in the future or not? Thank you, my awesome Litsy Community!

JulieAnn Haven't read them but they sound intriguing! I usually try out series from the library first then decide if I want to buy the whole thing. 9y
Kimmie Have you tried the nursery crimes series by fforde? Really good. I also see ferrante on that shelf. My latest passion!!! 9y
Soubhiville I've listened to quite a few on audiobook, and enjoyed them all. If you like one I think you'd like the whole bunch! 9y

LibrarianJen I agree with @JulieAnn , the library is the best place to try out a new series! 9y
jpmcwisemorgan I really like this series, particularly because of all the references to fictional characters. He also has other books, some are part of a series, that are good too. 9y
BookBabe That title "Lost in a Good Book" has certainly caught my attention. ? 9y
DyAnne Love the Thursday Next series! 9y
JulieAnn Well now they sound really good! 9y
emtobiasz Jasper Fforde is a favorite of mine. Definitely books to read in series order, though-- they're confusing enough that way, and Fforde isn't going to hold your hand while you get your bearings! 9y
ImaginativeMom Fforde's The Last Dragonslayer was on my daughter's summer reading list a few years ago and we both loved it. After that, I picked up The Eyre Affair somewhere, but still haven't read it!! 9y
Eyelit I love this series! I've read them all. You're in a much better vantage point now because I had to wait forever for each installment to be written/published. Fforde's a busy bloke, apparently 😄 9y
LauraBeth I would just buy them so they're no longer being sandwiched between the Neopolitan novels and Bridget Jones 😀 (not that there's anything wrong with either of those series but it looks weird) 9y
TheLondonBookworm Buy them all waste no time!! 9y
amywithbooks I love The Eyre Affair, I need to check out the others! 9y
Traveler13 Buy Them! They're a fun read. 9y
readinginthedark I'm in the middle of the first one and really enjoying it so far! 9y
Shemac77 On my TBR pile as well. And by the comments it's moving up the queue! 9y
ValerieAndBooks I have wondered the same about Fforde!! Hmmm. 9y
Owlizabeth YES. BUY THEM. READ THEM. Hopefully a sequel to Shades of Grey comes at some point. I absolutely adore Fforde and the Nursery Crime books are read by #SimonVance if you're into audio. 9y
bookwrm526 I love this series!!! 9y
Suzze Love. His. Books. The Thursday Next series is superb! 9y
MrBook @JulieAnn @LibrarianJen Yep, I agree with your strategy 😊👍🏻. 9y
MrBook @Kimmie Not yet. Fforde barely brushed across my radar years ago, then I saw these more in focus, lol, and thought they sound really fun and intriguing. 9y
MrBook @Soubhiville @Owlizabeth I'll definitely be sampling the audio via Audible 😁👍🏻. 9y
MrBook @jpmcwisemorgan Yeah, that aspect really caught my attention 😊, and thank you for the insight @emtobiasz @ImaginativeMom ! 9y
MrBook @DyAnne @Eyelit @avgeyer @Traveler13 @readinginthedark @bookwrm526 @Suzze This is what I was hoping to hear: a great series. 😊👍🏻 9y
MrBook @LauraBeth @TheLondonBookworm Persuasive, you are! Yeah, thinking about giving some extra elbow room to the other shelf aboders, lol. 9y
lilycobalt I've read through First Among Sequels and find them to be delightfully meta. 9y
Titania Read Shades of Grey earlier in the year. Unique and enjoyable. Kind of Monty Python meets dystopia. Ready for the next in the series. 9y
MrsTaffy I stumbled upon The Eyre Affair while taking a Children's Lit course and instantly fell in love! I was a HS lit teacher at the time so all the literary allusions were right up my alley. Jasper Fford's humor is superb. I recently found one from the series that I haven't read yet on a clearance rack at a discount store and snatched it up immediately!!! 9y
acc5446 yes yes yes!! hands down, one of the most clever and unique series I've ever read. All the love for Thursday Next and Jasper Fforde! 9y
acc5446 @ImaginativeMom that's also such a fun series!! 9y
SaraFair Not to mention the square footage to house said books... 9y
LA_Mead YES I have all of his books! They're all fantastic! You can't go wrong with Thursday Next! Or the Dragon Slayer series! His "Shades of Grey" series is also awesome, although the sequel just got pushed back to 2018...alas... 9y
Redwritinghood Definitely. These are so much fun for book nerds. 9y
erzascarletbookgasm Heard so much of this series but have yet to read them. And I like your quote 😎 9y
MCYmermaid I concur that these splendid novels are a treat for readers! 9y
LatteSue Wi became addicted to these books. I wish there were more. 9y
AliBG Borrow. Not really books to re-read imho. 9y
Moonpa Fforde is a lot of fun and entertaining. I love the Nursery Crime series, wish there were more than two! Take them out from the library before buying if you are unsure. 9y
MrBook @AliBG Good to know. I appreciate your opinion 😊👍🏻. 9y
Laalaleighh Shades of Grey is his best in my opinion. I got burned out on Thursday next somewhere around book 5. 9y
peggyriley This is a really fun series - and I love his Nursery Crimes series, too - wish there were more of them. 9y
MrBook Good to know, thanks @Laalaleighh @peggyriley !😊 9y
