It took me a while to source this book, and then another while before I actually read it, but But I'm glad I fibally did. It's the only way to get his own words on George Michael. It's interesting, with a few moments of what might be called insight. But written before the real tortured soul became visible to the world. #67-2024

I could not get into this book. It's a shame because I love the Bee Gees. The way it was written didn't work for me. It felt very impersonal and dry. If you want to read a good book about the Gibb family I recommend Arrow Through the Heart: The Biography of Andy Gibb by Matthew Hild. That was much better.

I haven‘t posted in a bit because I have been working nonstop. But I missed you guys, and I‘m looking forward to being more present this month. Starting with my next read. Needed a bit of a palate cleanser from all the dark romances, though I have a lot on this month‘s list to. I picked this up last year in Texas, I think it‘s about time I read it. Yes, I know, not all the bands depicted in this post were part of LookOut, but they‘re my favorite.

Yuval Sharon‘s passion for his topic shines through on every page of this engaging, accessible book. While he does assume you‘ve got some basic opera knowledge, there‘s enough context here for even neophytes to follow along with each of his points—and to interrogate those points against their own experience of the performing arts. I had an excellent time doing just that, and now I‘m all fired up to explore EVEN MORE OPERA. Highly recommended.

Pretty happy with this score. I watched a lot of movies growing up & movie music is a favorite!

1. The Way You Look Tonight (one of my favorite songs ever)
2. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (fave Christmas song/version)
3. Rainbow Connection (gets me every time!😢)
4. Let the River Run (great movie & anthem)
