I‘m just all up in my feelings today. So much about the past year has just been so….wrong. @TieDyeDude
My #tuesdaytunes picks:
Peace Frog, The Doors:
https://youtu.be/eh-9EVi_tN8?si=76doAApXl_KwH5ZY
What‘s Going On, Marvin Gaye:
https://youtu.be/o5TmORitlKk?si=er3uJKVBNm15W5Jp
Get Together, The Youngbloods:
https://youtu.be/7xGxQXmu7Os?si=F_0kEq5avtEyN_yn

dabbe Today's date is significant as well. Right there with you, my friend. 💙✊🏻💙 2d
CBee @dabbe oh yes. Constant reminder today since it‘s five years ago 😢 2d
vivastory Yup, definitely agree! One movie I did not include on best of, but.*really* should have was the recent excellent movie by K. Bigelow starring Idris Elba & Rachel Ferguson. Like other Bigelow movies, a very realistic portrait of international conflict & unfortunately won't get the praise deserved bc of end of year release date. Highly recommend. 2d

CBee @vivastory is it House of Dynamite? I have that on my watch list! 2d
vivastory Yes! Definitely worth the watch. Elba basically has a cameo, but Ferguson is fantastic. Feels very real 2d
dabbe @CBee 😢 2d
AnnCrystal 💚✊🏼🫂✌🏼💚. (edited) 2d
CBee @vivastory I love her. Have you watched Silo? 1d
vivastory Not yet, I really want to but I need to read at least the first book 22h
CBee @vivastory I didn‘t read any of them 🤷‍♀️ I didn‘t actually know they were books until after I started watching (and was hooked). 22h

#tuesdaytunes @TieDyeDude

I can't believe I missed their concert in Phoenix last night! So, I'm listening to their greatest hits today. I have been in a major GenX nostalgia mood lately.

Bookwormjillk Did you watch Stranger Things? So much GenX nostalgia. 2d
dabbe @Bookwormjillk No! I've never even heard of it! Where is it? 🤩 2d
SamAnne Duran Duran was one of the first cassette tapes I owned. 2d

Bookwormjillk @dabbe Netflix. It just ended so you wouldn't have the terrible wait the rest of us had to endure. 2d
slategreyskies Great quote! 🤣 💕 2d
AlaMich I saw Duran Duran in concert in San Francisco as a teenager. I liked them a lot but mostly I remember the concert as being so LOUD!! 2d
Bookwomble @dabbe Ohhh, you've got to watch Stranger Things! 100% agree with @Bookwormjillk 2d
CBee @Bookwormjillk I‘m so sad it‘s over. But that finale was 🔥 2d
dabbe @SamAnne How cool is that? Mine was The Police's SYNCHRONICITY. 🤩 2d
mcctrish @Bookwormjillk my kids keep chastising me for not watching Stranger Things - I swear I watched a couple episodes when it first came out and then got distracted 2d
dabbe @Bookwormjillk Good to know! Thanks! 🤩 2d
dabbe @slategreyskies IKR? 🤣🤩😍 2d
DGRachel The music and 80s of it all was what got me hooked on Stranger Things. I avoided it for years, but my mom kept rewatching the first few seasons over and over, so I‘d catch bits as I walked through the house from my office to the kitchen and back. The music sucked me in. 2d
dabbe @AlaMich How cool is that? I'm amazed we can still hear after all that head-banging music! 🤣🤩😍 2d
dabbe @Bookwomble Now on the TBW list! 🤩 2d
dabbe @CBee The last tv series I watched was the X Files. I kid you not. I'm an old nerd. 🤣 2d
dabbe @DGRachel I am very intrigued! 😍 2d
Bookwormjillk @mcctrish now‘s the time since it‘s (finally) over 2d
CBee @dabbe old nerds can learn new….tricks? Lol I wasn‘t sure how to phrase that 😂😂😂 2d
SamAnne @dabbe I was such a Police fan!!! 2d
dabbe @SamAnne Same! Sting just made my knees buckle. I didn't even care that “Every Breath You Take“ was really a stalker song! Stalk me anytime you want, Gordon Sumner! 🩶🤍🖤 2d
SamAnne @dabbe oh, and don‘t forget Don‘t Stand So Close to Me. High school teacher getting it on with one of his students. And Sting had been a high school teacher. Just ew. 2d
dabbe @SamAnne 🎯♥️🎯 2d
TieDyeDude I'm sure I mentioned it on here before, but we saw Duran Duran at Red Rocks in 2023, and it was one of the best shows I've seen. If they come through AZ again, I highly recommend seeing them. I was indifferent before that show (@wildalaskabibliophile got us tickets), but wow! 1d
dabbe @TieDyeDude I have to keep more up to date on these things! I was so bummed I missed them. They were one of my go-to groups in college. So glad you and @Wildalaskabibliophile got to see them! 🫂 1d

MTV's auxiliary 24-hour music channels have gone dark worldwide. The cultural juggernaut is now mostly home to reality shows and competitions, as it joins TLC and The History Channel as a station whose name has lost all relevance.
Is it a bad thing, though? I submit, for your consideration, the music video for Katy Perry's Woman World. Be warned, this is not safe for human consumption 😜

TieDyeDude In all honesty, though, it is disappointing to lose a cultural icon. MTV was blocked on our TV for a large part of my childhood (not that we didn't find ways around it), and my musical tastes leaned more towards VH1 and CMT, but I remember, among other things, tracking the rise of Eminem, being traumatized by Black Hole Sun, and the twisted Celebrity Death Match. 3d
TheBookHippie I remember seeing Black Hole sun for the first and last times. So powerful. ♥️🙌🏼 Hair stood up on your arms good. 3d
TheBookHippie @TieDyeDude MTV didn‘t come out until I was a late teen. Senior in high school I think. It‘s fuzzy. 😅👵🏼 3d

Texreader @TieDyeDude MTV in the 80s was the best. Banned as well, but yea, ways around that. 3d
Karisa I loved the videos on MTV too. Couldn‘t watch them on front of my religious parents but it was one of the perks of being a latch key kid. I was mesmerized by Losing my Religion, Jeremy, and Take on Me… so many great videos! 3d
TheBookgeekFrau I was 11ish when MTV first came out as an extra cable you had to order and pay an additional fee for, and it wasn't available everywhere, like where I lived 😤 I think I was 13 when it finally made it to my boondocks town 😂 3d
Amiable I‘m old enough to remember when MTV first came on the airwaves, and sitting on the floor with my sister watching music videos for hours. 3d
AmyG I was there from the beginning. My BF was one of the first to get cable in NJ as Cablevision was based in the town he lived in. My favorite memory…Headbanger‘s Ball. Everyone would be sleeping and I would get up (it was on at Midnight?) and watch in peace. I loved Soundgarden…Rusty Cage video was my favorite. Chris Cornell….be still my heart. 🤣 (edited) 3d
KT1432 I enjoyed MTV for what it was. I actually miss the days when guest appearances on there were the main medium of celebrities connecting to fans. 😅 2d
dabbe MTV first premiered when I was a junior in high school: 1981. Gen X was its target market. First video? “Video Killed the Radio Star.“ They played that and Steve Miller's (the cool one) “Abracadabra“ over and over and over ... and we all watched in absolute awe. Martha Quinn was my favorite dj. #nostalgia 🩶🤍🖤 2d
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick A sad day indeed. I was in diapers when MTV launched but it was always there for a long as I remember. I loved watching their early game show Remote Control. I was a huge fan of 120 Minutes & Alternative Nation. I looked forward to their Spring Break specials and the Rock & Jock sports. MTV Sports with Dan Cortese. 😍 The debut of The Real World and Road Rules. So many memories. 1d

As I said in my previous post, I was largely offline since the beginning of the holidays. Imagine my (un) surprise of 47 acting VERY much like 43. Having watched the excellent One Battle etc last night really hits it home. My playlist for #tuesdaytunes were the songs I was playing at time of the follies of GW:
*Green Day: American Idiot
*Black Sabbath: War Pigs
*Alice In Chains: Rooster
*Pink Floyd: Dogs of War
@tiedyedude

TheBookHippie SAME SONGS PLAYING OVER HERE. 🙌🏼 3d
Addison_Reads Yes! I've had several of these on repeat lately. And this movie is excellent. It's one of my favorites of the year. 3d

vivastory @Addison_Reads Care to share your other favorites of the year? Mine are:
1) Sinners
2) Frankenstein
3) Weapons
4) One Battle etc
5 The Long Walk
6) The Monkey
7) Superman
8) The Companion
(Sidenote: there's still probably 4 movies from last year I plan on watching)
3d
Addison_Reads @vivastory It was a great year for King adaptations. I really enjoyed The Long Walk, Running Man, and The Monkey. Others, in no particular order...
1) Weapons (it's an all time favorite movie now)
2) Eddington
3) Bugonia
4) Sinners
5) Nuremberg
6) The Ballad of Wallis Island
7)Hamnet
8)Train Dreams
I haven't watched Frankenstein or The Companion yet, but I plan to.
3d
Leftcoastzen Yay! 3d
BarbaraBB I‘ve been listening to that Alice In Chains song too! 3d
Lesliereadsalot Really liked The Ballad of Wallis Island. 3d
vivastory @Addison_Reads Great list! I somehow completely forgot Eddington, definitely high on my list 2d
TieDyeDude Megalomaniac by Incubus was high on my GW playlist.

I am woefully behind on 2025 movies. I recently started using my Letterboxd account again, though, and want to catch up on noteworthy movies. Sinners was easily the best I saw, though, and Frankenstein and Superman were both great
2d
vivastory @TieDyeDude There's definitely quite a few movies I need to catch up on from last year:
(In no order)
*28 Years Later
*Friendship
*Bring Her Back
*Running Man
*Fantastic 4
*Together
*Materialists
*Bugonia
*Phoenician Scheme
These will take priority over the next month, along with seasons 4 & 5 of Stranger Things
