I tracked down this 1995 album a few years ago as it features Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins on several songs, but lead singer Chris Thomson is certainly not overshadowed, his baritone voice sweeping between breathy & gravelly, & set in chamber pop arrangements of piano & strings. The Bathers have been described as "the best kept secret in Scottish music", & part of me wants to keep it that way. They're a bit special

Bookwomble I love the whole album, but I'll pick "The Dutch Venus", The Angel on Ruskin" and "Weem Rock Muse" (the latter guitar-based) as particular favourites.

Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain | Oliver Sacks

I saw this template on Instagram and thought it would be fun to share it here. This is my favorite Linkin Park song. It‘s the first song that ever got me into Linkin Park. I heard my brother listening to them when he was a teenager and I was a little girl. I started listening to them after that. When I found out Chester (the lead singer) died, I started crying. I don‘t even listen to the music anymore because of it.

The votes are in, and the worst song in the world is "(You're) Having My Baby" by Paul Anka!

While most of the songs suggested have aged poorly or fell on the wrong side of catchy, this tune is just uncomfortable to listen to. The concept is sweet, but the execution actually made me cringe!

My vote is for Believer by Imagine Dragons.
But speaking of the creepy theme - my fiancee and I were listening to an ok cover of that Marcy Playground song 'Sex and Candy' and then we wondered who else may have covered it...

Billypar ... and that's how we found this testosterone-soaked version from a band I never heard of that has a very fitting name. I'm going to put it under the Spoiler tag because I do NOT recommend listening to it (trust me, it's not something you want in your brain - particularly the chorus 🤢). 1d

Billypar @RamsFan1963 So, I listened to Happy Together, and I agree - not bad! Then I went back and listened to Sex and Candy, and I still didn't like it, but it was nowhere near what I remembered. The song in my head sounded like Limp Bizkit covering the song, but this sounded more like Jefferson Airplane maybe? I checked a few other covers to see if I had the wrong song, but I don't think so. Memory is very strange! 🤔 1d

NGL the past two days have been rough. I started Dupixent for my mast cell activation syndrome and two other conditions, and the side effects have hit hard. I‘ve felt like I‘ve had a bad cold all day. But life doesn‘t stop. I‘m still the healthiest in the house (fwiw), so it‘s been a busy day. My upbeat mix from Spotify and Brittney Griner‘s memoir are keeping me company. I just keep hope that someday I will get my life back!!

For me, it's a tie between Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes and Afternoon Delight by the Starland Vocal Band. Both songs make me want to switch the dial immediately!! Also, Escape is probably the most unrealistic song about infidelity ever written. #tuesdaytunes @TieDyeDude
