marleed @TheBookHippie I‘m really glad I read this. It wasn‘t an easy read for me but I liked how it centered itself on faith without being current-day American Christian Nationalist. I likely would have skipped the book had it been published post-2016 for fear of that narrative. 1mo

TheBookHippie @marleed #nunlit section and I was wary but like you saw the pub date and figure it was probably okay. I checked the publisher too 😅😂. I think it‘s important to read different faiths than mine as long as it‘s not agenda propaganda this fit that pretty well. 1mo

My body seems to have completely forgotten its Western Montana roots (maybe it was those 5 San Antonio winters I experienced🤣), because I can‘t even abide Kansas City‘s ‘Uary‘ months with comfort and ease. But at least I covered myself in the warmth of books and contributed to my new year of my #indexcard collection!

in 2024 I covered myself with 272 books. Years back on Litsy I bemoaned my inability to retain all I read. I paraphrase a Litten response - Like eating I read to live. I don‘t remember every meal I ate this year, and I don‘t recall every book read. But the great ones, oh boy, do I remember those! …So, it‘s like that - along with spoilers and my subjective ratings on the backside of every #indexcard pictured! Happy 2025 you gorgeous Littens!

AnnCrystal @marleed there are ways, if you have the correct ink in your home printer, you can copy them into iron-on paper and make yourself an art quilt. They also have a few different fabric markers, where you draw directly into cloth when making next year's collection and then iron them after to set ink or toss them in the dryer. 2mo

DogMomIrene Wowza! Are those 3x5 or 5x7 index cards? Do you stand on a chair to get that shot? Or do you need a ladder? 2mo

marleed @DogMomIrene They are heavy-weight 3x5 cards. And I stand on my small step ladder and do my best to reach over as many rows possible to get the shot. I downsized by 1/3 the size of the home we had built to raise my kids. This house is 40 years older and with low ceilings so my head would go through the ceiling if I didn‘t hunch over on that step ladder as I reach my phone to the center😜. I must look ridiculous in my attempt! 2mo

marleed @DogMomIrene My son is a director of photography for an advertising agency. I‘ve actually never showed him this annual photo because I‘m pretty sure he‘d respond with - you do what with every book you read. 🤣 🤣. For the last 5 years he‘s also spent the last week after Christmas at Times Square with a press pass (hotel room and importantly - bathroom) shooting/editing video for a client. Hey, shouldn‘t a mom have priority 🤣🤣 2mo

What entertains me about my #indexcard collection is I don‘t differentiate between physical, e-book, or audio, thrifted, pre-purchased, or library loan - it‘s just stories I‘ve consumed. And good lord, I need the spoilers written on the backsides to re-open the ‘pages‘ locked in the cavernous halls of my brain!

I‘m a mood reader but can‘t believe I stayed on theme for the entire month! My issue is I stacked my Oct TBR all year and need an additional couple months to flatten said TBR so I‘ll just redate tomorrow to Oct 32!

I don‘t write down my feelings about the book though. Instead I use the lines to write plot points and spoilers that will jog my feeble memory when trying to recall just what was in the books I read 🤪 5mo
