#pemberlittens #thewatsonsreadalong #chapter6 Today I finished Austen‘s incomplete edition and so much happened. Emma and Elizabeth grow close and develop a good routine caring for their father. Then everything gets upended by the return of Margaret and the visit of brother Robert and his wife Jane. Jane is very uppity and expects them to put on airs. Though she says the opposite. Margaret is totally fake and a complete brat. She and Jane👇

MicrobeMom Argue and Jane did not want to rerun Margaret to Stanton regardless of Margaret‘s Dee sure to see Emma. Robert goes off on Emma about Aunt Turner and her stupidity of not giving money to take care Emma and marrying the Irish soldier. Apparently is was her responsibility to provide for Emma not him or his father. Emma starts crying. Then there is a meal follow by a visit from Mr. Musgrave. They play cards and Margaret thinks he is there for her, 2y
MicrobeMom But he is clearly there to talk up Lord Osborne to Emma. Mr. Musgrave leave with a invite to diner the next night which he turns down. Margaret is sure that he will return to see her the next day and he doesn‘t. 2y
MicrobeMom But he is clearly there to talk up Lord Osborne to Emma. Mr. Musgrave leave but with an invite to dine the next night which he refuses. Margaret thinks he will come a way to see her and he doesn‘t. Robert and Jane leave a couple of days later and invite Emma to join them. Everyone thinks their company is far superior to Margaret‘s even Elizabeth. While they are probably right Emma stays and hides from Margaret by locking herself up with her da 2y

ravenlee Margaret reminds me of Miss Steele (I think her name‘s Anne) from S&S, Lucy‘s twit of a sister who‘s so obsessed with beaux. And Robert and Jane have so much of John and Fanny about them, too. 2y
Ruthiella @ravenlee I agree, there are shades of other Austen “types”. I think Elizabeth also has a bit of Lizzie Bennet about her-she calls ‘em like she sees ‘em. 2y
Sparklemn And the sickly father similar to Emma Woodhouse's (from “Emma“). 2y
Ruthiella @Sparklemn Yes! Only not quite so self absorbed (or rich!). 😂 2y
julieclair I felt so sorry for Emma when Robert was going on about how unfair it was that she had returned to her family with no income. And how she was burdening the family budget when everyone had expected she would be able to help out financially. 2y
Sparklemn @julieclair That was truly awful 2y

‘Of course a lot of very good people aren‘t religious in the sense of being church-goers,‘ persisted Mrs. Bonner. ‘No, I know they aren‘t,‘ I agreed, feeling that at any moment she would begin talking about it being just as easy to worship God in a beechwood or on the golf links on a fine Sunday morning."

How I prefer to spend Sunday mornings.?

Our first meeting of Ron and Hermione!

The divide between Harry and Malfoy begins in this chapter as Harry, though famous beyond his own comprehension and having no knowledge of the magic world, know a little shit when he sees one 😂

We continue to socialize with the Crawford‘s while many of the young ladies are focused on their suitors. They decide to make plans to visit the place Fanny wanted to visit, but make plans to go without her because they‘re all rude...except for Edmund...

I‘m getting major Isabella Thorpe vibes from Mary Crawford

There‘s an interesting dynamic between Catherine and Isabella. Catherine is so curious and innocent and Isabella has more confidence with the attentions of men.

We get some “you‘re like really pretty” Regina George energy in this chapter 😆 Isabella is seemingly confident in asserting her opinion on all things.

KristiAhlers I agree with you regarding the dynamic. 4y

Sometimes I don't think there's anything more overwhelming than expectations. Harry is overwhelmed and uncertain of the expectations he feels from complete strangers to be somebody he feels he isn't, and Ron is living under the fear that he won't ever meet the expectations of his parents by not being able to live up to his brothers' accomplishments. #hpchapteraday #Chapter6 #Expectations
