The Deep | Rivers Solomon, Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, Jonathan Snipes

Pickpick

The story is tragic but beautiful. Rivers Solomon takes this horrifying piece of human history and retells it with an unexpected aftermath. The imagery and writing in this novella are amazing.
I am so glad I found this book and it is one of the reasons I love Read Harder. ⠀

I recently finished A Great and Terrible Beauty. First Read Harder book of the year! This was my historical fiction for task 7. It's a fun book but I loved the way it dived into the trap that was being a girl in the Victorian era most. A full review is up on the blog today!

Remembering Martin Luther King Jr. and the women of the Civil Rights Movement today with a look back through At The Dark End of Street by Danielle L. McGuire. There's still a lot of work to do, for guidance, pick up Eloquent Rage by Brittney Cooper or When They Call You a Terrorist by Patrisse Khan-Cullors.⠀

Couldn‘t resist one final book haul of 2017. I‘m a big Amy Tan and Alice McDermott fan. This will be my introduction to Claire Messud. #booksbywomen

Intelligent, insightful, well-argued, passionate, beautifully written, and occasionally delightfully snarky. It's our tremendous loss that this woman is not president. #hillaryclinton #americanhistory #UShistory #politics #feminism #femaleauthors #booksbywomen #resist

Informative, engaging, and urgent. This raised my awareness of climate change and the many other ways humans are impacting other living things on the planet. I feel motivated to do more to reduce my impact. #equityandactivismbookclub #science #climatechange #sustainability #environment #booksbywomen #femaleauthors

One of the best-produced audiobooks I've ever listened to, with a lot of added value compared to the print edition. That, my friends, is how you make audiobooks! Yes, there is music, yes, there are songs, and yes, it sounds like Amanda Palmer is performing her life story specifically for you.
