They've had her 2 weeks and have already spent $1000 on vet visits and meds. I'm so angry at the unethical behavior of the humane society to release a dog they still had in quarantine 😤 4w

TheBookgeekFrau @bookandbedandtea Yesterday the vet told them that her blood work was weird and she might have cancer, but they would need to take to to a specialist to find out for sure. Or it might just be a bacterial infection or a virus. She's on another round of antibiotics, which is difficult to get her to take. At this point I think they should return her before the 30 day window is up, as heartless as that sounds 😣 4w

bookandbedandtea @TheBookgeekFrau Poor doggie! I feel badly for her but I kind of agree with you. It sounds like she may cost them a great deal and possibly be in poor health the whole time anyway. Since there's a return window they should probably take it. 😭 4w

TheBookgeekFrau @bookandbedandtea A happy update: turns out little Miss Mia does Not have cancer! The humane society left a piece of her uterus when they spayed her. So as soon as her pneumonia clears up they'll go in and clean her up. 🤞🏼🤞🏼for a good result! 3w

dabbe @Clwojick We actually had to adopt them together from Saving Paws because they were considered a “bonded pair.“ Two girls, too, which is quite rare. They bonded while in the slammer together. We don't know if they came in as sisters or not (because of their names, which we didn't give them), but we like to think that they did! 🩵❄️🩵 13mo

Clwojick I love that! I know our local rescue has such a hard time adopting our bonded pairs since most people are scared to commit to two rescues. But I think it‘s almost a guarantee that they‘ll flourish in their new environment, because they have a best friend to rely on and comfort them in the transition. And I find that normally one will choose to be brave and show the other one that its all okay. 😊 #adoptdontshop ❤️❤️❤️ 13mo

And when we first got them, neither one could be out of sight of the other for even a second. It's been wonderful to see them come into their own, and now they'll leave each other and do their own thing because they finally feel safe. 🖤🐾🐾🖤 13mo

So a few days ago, I discovered that my new rescue Maggie is NOT spayed: she's in heat! I have never and I mean never had a dog that is not fixed. It's just so irresponsible and unhealthy for the animal. So as soon as this little pumpkin is finished with this (about 2 more weeks), she's going to have surgery and be all the better for it❤️
