But when Mercy s bond with the pack and her mate is broken, she ll learn what it truly means to be alone... Attacked and abducted in her home territory, Mercy finds herself in the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world, taken as a weapon to use against alpha werewolf Adam and the ruler of the Tri-Cities vampires. In coyote form, Mercy escapes only to find herself without money, without clothing, and alone in the heart of Europe... Unable to contact Adam and the rest of the pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, and she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy must be her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves, and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise..."

I know I say this after I finish each book in this series but I think this might be my favorite❤️❤️❤️ Dual POVs for Mercy and Adam the entire book. New location with new characters like Larry the Goblin, Golem, and Matt Smith. Learning Mercy loves Doctor Who❤️❤️ Great story with an interesting twist at the end. This is just my new fav series period!!!!

FINALLY got around to reading this one (yes I am a few books behind now!) and it was worth it despite the wait.

Another solid book in the Mercy series, a nice mix of characters, and a change in location - an unexpected trip to Europe.

This was also my #Bookspin (and was last year too…)

Best book for the month has to be Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs but I really enjoyed everything I read this month with the exception of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I know Mercy gets kidnapped and is in a really tight spot, but to steal the ebook reader of someone on holiday. I can't help and think of that poor woman without her e-reader!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa 😂. I love my ebook reader and Mercy, but I‘m pretty sure I‘d sacrifice mine to save her.... because all my books are archived and I can still read them on my phone, etc. 5y
Deifio @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yeah. But I'm not sure what Mercy wrote on these notes. Pretty sure that the woman is pretty pissed of because she hasn't got anything to read! 5y
BehindthePages Now that I finished Kate Daniels I might start my reread of this series! 5y

Another title from #BookSpinBonanza conquered. I enjoyed coming back to Mercy‘s world and the assorted characters. Once again Briggs spins a tale involving an element of mythology that intertwines with the politics of the crisis du jour.

Yesterday I met with friends, we drank tea and talked about needed something light after the Stephen King. One of them let me borrow the Mercy Thompson as something light and fun (she is the one who started me on the series) and the other one suggested Charles Davidson. Anybody has another suggestion?

GlassAsDiamonds Maybe you could define “light” a little! Urban Fantasy maybe Ilona Andrews? My “light” is Kerry Greenwood‘s Phryne Fishers or Corina Chapman series defined because I know they‘re not going to give me nightmares and I love the quality of the writing.... but then I also think that‘s for a decent amount of non-fiction. 6y
catsuit_mango @GlassAsDiamonds my light is Gail Carriger's parasol protectorate or Douglas addams' hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Something funny and silly and well written. I'll look I to those authors, as I have never read any one of them :) 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @catsuit_mango ah, cool! Probably the Greenwood‘s won‘t suit then but Ilona Andrew‘s InnKeeper series probably would. Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero is dark and hysterical and there‘s always Terry Pratchett! 6y
See All 6 Comments
catsuit_mango @GlassAsDiamonds OK for Ilona Andrew. I really liked meddling kids and yes of course to Terry Pratchett. Did you read the rivers of London by Ben aaronovitch? I love this Serie. 6y
GlassAsDiamonds @catsuit_mango 😂😂😂😂 I wondered wether to include those!! I need to re-read the first two and get back into it, I loved it!!! There‘s a pulp fiction series tagged that‘s a cross between crime noir, Ben Aaronovich and a Quentin Tarantino movie of you aren‘t easily offended that you might also like - I‘m four books in so far. 😂 6y
catsuit_mango @GlassAsDiamonds sandman slim sounds just about right for me, I really like tarantino too ;) 6y

Reread this for the new one coming out on Tuesday. I LOVE this book. It's different from the others in this series in several ways and it was nice for a bit of change. The action starts at the very beginning and doesn't stop. I'm pretty psyched for the new one.

I always love visiting Mercy‘s world, it‘s like falling back in with old friends that you haven‘t seen for awhile. Sadly I only seem to visit them on their worst days though, LOL. These characters have grown so much, and I love the secondary characters that have developed into complex characters themselves. And as always, I love Adam and Mercy‘s relationship, it‘s grown so much and they take care of each other in the best ways, loving each other..

Riveted_Reader_Melissa ... other while they each do what they need to do. In this installment, our gang leaves their comfort zone, albeit unwillingly, and travels to Europe sucked into vampire schemes upon schemes. There is a lot for them to balance, ex lovers, addicts, rival Alphas, ghosts, and an ancient golem. 7y

Johanna414 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘m actually a little bummed that I‘m caught up now... not sure when the next book comes out 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Johanna414 I know the next one is for the Alpha and Omega series. Charles‘s series. Have you read that one? 7y
Johanna414 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Only the first two so far. I enjoyed them as well but I think I like Mercy better 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Johanna414 Same here, but as things go on the events in one effect the others a bit more. For instance it‘s in anAlpha and Omega book why the fae retreated to their reservations and are fighting with the government. I prefer Mercy‘s too, but I did enjoy their first short story (the one were they meet) and the later books are nice to fill in the time between Mercy books. 7y

Another excellent book in the series and a great follow up to the previous book in the series. Vampires, and the king of vampires, decides to play with Mercy and Adam and they go forth to do battle each in their own way. This is a great series if you like strong female characters and like to see women who save themselves but are happy to share an adventure. 4.5/5 stars

Heretherebedragons I agree, this one was very enjoyable. 9 books in, and she's still finding ways to keep it fresh and the characters growing as people. (edited) 7y

Briggs doesn't write a bad urban fantasy, and this book was no exception. A bit different in that there wasn't a big boss battle, but this story let Adam spend more time center stage.

flip58 I love the underlying theme of family. 8y
KarmonR @flip58 That is such a great aspect. And family isn't all round pegs in round holes; sometimes it is making adjustments in perception to accept a "family" member. 8y

I think I will try to read Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs first, though my actual first book will be an audiobook. I want to re-listen to The Chimes by Charles Dickens. The not completely linear style was interesting. I loved Mercy's comments at the beginning of each chapter. I wish it was a longer book, though. Some of the subplots would benefit from more development, but overall it was another really fun Mercy book. I might have to reread it due to a reveal at the end that I completely missed.
