#spanishbook #8- 2024 will be my 4th consecutive year of immersing myself on the way to fluency, and I've built up a nice little collection of libros en español. One of my reading goals for the new year is to read more of them!
"Ríete de este torpe
muchacho que te quiere,
pero cuando yo abro
los ojos y los cierro,
cuando mis pasos van,
cuando vuelven mis pasos,
niégame el pan, el aire,
la luz, la primavera,
pero tu risa nunca
porque me moriría"
Neruda captures something sweet, sacred, and pure about love that touches the soul.
#FallTreasures - Pocket Book: His is a poetry of yearning and deep longing not for love or love‘s sake, but for the Lover. For the passion ignited as one soul burns for another. The one that is breath and sunlight, water and air, food and sustenance. His words map the journey of the heart in Eros. It is sensual and pure and beautiful!👇🏽
"Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but
do not take from me your laughter."
By far, some of the most beautiful lines I've ever read. Poetry at its best.
"Deny me bread, air, light, spring, but never your laughter for I would die." #latinxliterature #hispanicheritagemonth #lovepoems

What a beautiful book of love poems by Pablo Neruda. My favorites include “Your Feet”, “Your Laughter”, and “Madrigal Written In Winter”. I‘ve read these poems multiple times and every time, I discover a new feeling, a new thought. 💗
Also, I‘m catching up on #LitsyLove mail this Sunday morning as well. 😊
Happy Valentine‘s Day! Always a good excuse to read some Pablo Neruda 💕

A tiny, bilingual edition that is mostly quite accessible in comparison to some of Neruda's other works.
I love them all, but maybe that's my inner hopeless-romantic talking. ❤❤
My fave poems in here would be: tus manos, tu risa, la noche en la Isla, and ausencia.
My fave poem of Neruda's may actually be Tu Risa. 😍😍😍😋
Between lips and lips there are cities
Of great ash and humid crest,
Drops of when and how, indefinite
Traffic:
Between lips and lips, as along a coast
Of sand and glass, the wind passes.
Spring
Offers us the sky,
But the dark earth
Is our name,
Our love belongs
To all time and the earth.
#poemaday
...
My love feeds off your love, beloved,
Y while you live it will be in your arms
Without leaving mine.
#poemaday
My love,
We have found each other
Thirsty and we have
Drunk all the water and the blood,
We found each other
Hungry
And we bit each other
Like the fire bites,
Leaving ourselves wounded.
But wait for me,
Keep for me your sweetness.
I will give you too
A rose.
#poemaday
💗💗💗
Hide me in your arms
For this night only,
While the rain breaks
Against the sea and the earth
Its innumerable mouth.
#poemaday
All night I have slept with you
Next to the sea, on the island.
Wild and sweet you were between pleasure and sleep,
Between fire and water.
Perhaps very late
Our dreams united
At the top or at the bottom,
Above like branches that are moved by the same wind,
Below like the red roots that touch.
#poemaday
This may be my favourite poem of his. Of all time. Of everything.
Laugh at the night,
At the day, at the moon,
Laugh at the twisted streets
of the island,
Laugh at this clumsy
Boy who loves you
...
Deny me bread, air,
Light, spring,
But never your laughter
For I would die.
☺☺☺☺
#poemaday
...
And when you placed
Your hands on my chest,
I recognized those wings
Of the golden dove,
I recognized that clay
And that colour of wheat.
Through the years of my life
I walked searching for them.
💜💜💜
If someone wrote me poetry like this, I would actually swoon. #poemaday
But I love your feet
Only because they walked
Over land and over
Wind and over water,
Until they found me.
💗💗💗💗
#poemaday
And when you appear
All the rivers sound
In my body, the bells
Shake the sky,
And a hymn fills the world.
Only you and I,
Only you and I, my love,
Hear it.
💘💗💘
#poemaday
....in love you have loosed yourself like sea water:
I can hardly measure the sky's most spacious eyes
And I lean toward your mouth to kiss the earth.
❤❤❤❤

For the #favoritepoetswap I‘m most excited to share and discover favorite poets, especially meaningful personal favorites, or local favorites. I‘m sending my match a copy of a collection from a poet I really like & will be surprised if they‘re familiar. 2. Not completely 😊 but I need to get on that!
3. Coffee or flavored black tea 4. Dark chocolate 🍫
Today's prompt reminds me of the usage of flowers in Neruda's poetry, to express love and emotion. [...if each day a #flower climbs up to your lips to seek me...]
The stanza is from 'If you forget me'. Full poem here - https://bit.ly/2C0fq3o

Today's prompt makes me think of Pablo Neruda's thought #provoking work! He is certainly a favourite.

[...I can love you only with kisses and poppies,
with garlands wet by the rain,
looking at ash-gray horses and yellow dogs.
I can love you only with waves at my back,
amid vague sulphur blows and brooding waters...]

My favourite poem. So soft and gentle.
'Me gustas cuando callas' or 'I like you calm'.
"But I love your feet
Only because they walked
Upon the earth and upon
The wind and upon the waters,
Until they found me." ❤❤❤

do not take from me your laughter."

☕️Brewing & Sipping Tea 🍵 w/Chip🌹while enjoying my current read 📖 🌸🌸🌸
What a wonderful book of poetry. The language was lyrical & poignant & captured perfectly the fervent passion Pablo Neruda held for Matilde Urrutia. I haven't enjoyed a poetry collection this much since Milk and Honey. I found myself so moved, particularly while reading the first number of poems. I endeavoured to savour every word & passage & really drink in the emotion. Well-worth reading. I'd love to hear this read in its original Spanish! 4/5⭐️
I started reading this book of poems this morning and it is beautiful! I just want to savour every word and not read it too quickly. Tears keep springing into my eyes, in a good way. 💕💗💞💓

I tried to gather 1 example of every #hispanicauthor I have on my shelves, from the classic to contemporary authors, even the anthologies I have (which I think are a great way to figure out whom you like).

I graduated today with my Masters of Science in Nursing and my family pretty much bought half of my Amazon wish list as a grad gift. I'll be in seclusion for the next few weeks!!! 😍😍
