The Lightning Bottles | Marissa Stapley

Pickpick

I grew up in the 90s grunge era when this was set, so I couldn't wait to read this book. Five years ago, Elijah, the lead vocalist of the Lightning Bottles, drowned. He was the much loved member of the band, unlike his wife and partner Jane, who was also the last person to see him. There was a lot of mystery surrounding his death, and in Germany, a fan named Hen thinks she has found the ultimate clue 🖤

The 20th Century in Poetry | Michael Hulse, Simon Rae

#PoetryMatters is giving me the time I‘ve always meant to put aside for #poetry. This extract is from an anthology that covers the twentieth century. Koenig is the protagonist of this long #poem. I like this one in how its unexpected, #vines here are of wild yams and bananas described as cows with unmilked fruit; just wonderful descriptions that remind me why I 💛 poetry 😊

lil1inblue Poetry is just the best. I love how every word carries weight. 😍 5d

That Is My Dream! | Langston Hughes

This book can link to my teaching in the classroom by promoting discussions about dreams, aspirations, and self-expression, allowing students to connect their personal goals to broader societal themes. It also encourages creativity and imagination, which are essential elements in fostering a love for reading and learning.

lynneamch Yes! Loved using Hughes in the classroom when I taught Interpersonal Communion to college students. 2w
