A mythical tome, if you will. 😃
I really enjoyed reading through this mythology book! I learned several stories I hadn‘t read before.
‘A time will come when they have grown so wicked that they will worship power; might will be right to them, reverence for the good will cease to be. At last when no man is angry anymore at wrongdoing or feels shame in the presence of the miserable, Zeus will destroy them too. And yet even then something might be done, if only the common people would arise and put down rulers that oppress them.‘
Mead and mythology makes for a perfect night.
Every now and then then you find a place that makes you fall in love with bookstores again… and leaves you broke! Completely worth the trip to visit, and I‘ll be back asap.
I can‘t wait to get stuck in!

If I know anything about Greek myths it‘s from being assigned this book in high school. It seemed like Zeus was always off being jealous.

Brushing up on my Trojan War knowledge before diving into a self-study of The Iliad! I‘ve picked the Fagles translation for this reread.
This copy of Edith Hamilton‘s Mythology has been with me since 1997!! It was a copy from my high school English class, I paid the fine for losing it when I graduated, and then found it during the summer. I‘ve had it ever since. ☺️

I am doubling up today. The Gods and Goddesses are #Covetous because they all feel they must be the only ones #Exalted.

Continuing with my Greek Mythology reads, I decided it was time to finally read this one. Although a lot of the material I already knew, I still liked the refresher. There were a few stories I hadn't heard either, so that was a nice find.
This book is a great introduction for those interested in Greek mythology, or like me who just want to brush up on their knowledge.
Figured I should do my own prompt 😂 these are just a couple of my physical book favorite covers! Do I have a thing for orange and black🤔 apparently! Love the minimalistic design on both of these! #fridayfunwith451 #mythology #Artemis #orangeandblack #favoritebookcovers @451Degrees
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 185 #bookstoread #tbrpile #bookstagram
Not bad, but not at all what i expected or was looking for and not to my taste

OMG I loved this book.
I especially loved how the author tells you how they used the sources for the myths, explaining why they did or didn't use one or more sources such as Homer or Ovid, and in doing so, showed how myths have multiple incarnations over time written in different styles at different times.
The myths themselves were great.
Although the Norse myths felt like a last minute addition than a integral part of the book.
Good though.
I love Greek mythology (Grecophile?). I always get a kick out when I coke across something in my readings that tie back to the ancient myths. This book was fantastic in breaking down all the myths, along with the gods, goddesses, and heroes tied to them. The only disappointment I had was that the author did not do a thorough deep-dive into the Norse mythology as the Greek. If that detail doesn't bother you, I highly recommend this book.
Just picked this up via Amazon. I do love hearing myths and legends, and I've been eyeing this book up for some time
For once, I've got plenty of time to read it XD
Exams are done! I can finally relax and ignore the world for a little bit.
Today will be the only day I get fully free for the week so I‘m reading a little mythology. I read The Odyssey in 10th grade. I remember liking it some but don‘t remember too much. I‘m more into myths now than I was at 16 so the reminder will be fun!
I hope everyone is staying safe!
The rest of the week I‘ll be watching my nieces & nephews since there is no school or daycares, but their parents still have to work unfortunately, while I do not.
Taking a break from writing my paper on Spartan religious practices to enjoy a nice hot relaxing bath. #classicistsoflitsy #thisisSparta
I guess I could wait until this afternoon and do my #BookReport. Then I might have more to report. But nah... I'd rather do it now. @Cinfhen
📚 I gave up on the studying almost immediately.
📚 I made decent progress in both Mythology and Monster Vol 4
📚 I managed to finish the section of Zorro I had been languishing on for too long.
Spending a few minutes with Edith so I won't feel like a complete failure when I I write my #WeeklyForecast #BookReport 😂
Wow this is a wonky picture. Ah well.
So my #WeeklyForecast...
📚 Continue my audiobook (tagged)
📚 Start Monster Volume 4
📚 Make time for Zorro
📚 Study (#autodidact)
I hope I can stay consistent with this @Cinfhen... I'm so lazy and forgetful at times but I do enjoy interacting with #littens.
The Myth O Mania books have me in a mythy mood. I wasn't really liking the narration on the Secondhand Spirits audiobook so I've switched to Edith Hamilton's mythology for my on-the-way-to-work boik. I'll try just reading Secondhand Spirits some other time.
Enjoying some Mythology before bed! Back to my Stephen King novels, and writing my own novel tomorrow!
A rare selfie of me with a book. This book is just special. I‘ve been wanting a copy of this edition since 2017, I think, and my boyfriend bought it for me, no occasion or such.
I've never managed to read this entire thing (my brain has a mythology block) but it has proven a useful reference tool for recent reads.
Hi! Ellie and I were wondering how your Little Litten liked her #mythsandlegendsjuniorswap package? Ellie had so much fun picking out the items! 😊
Is it Wednesday yet?! #MythsAndLegendsSwap from @cobwebmoth arrived a couple days ago! Can‘t wait! @MeganAnn #MALS
#MythsAndLegendsSwap package is shipped and on the way to it‘s special recipient! Not tagging them so it‘s a surprise! 📦😏 @MeganAnn #MALS
Just mailed my daughter‘s #MythsandLegendsSwapJUNIOR package and forgot to take a picture of that one too! It should arrive by Friday, April 26th. Ellie is super excited to see if her match likes the books she chose and to open her own package, of course!!
My #MythsAndLegendsSwap package is all wrapped and ready to go out in the next day or so. @MeganAnn I can't wait for my match to open it. This was the most fun I've had shopping/researching for a swap ever. 🦄🧜♀️🧚♀️🤴
So many wonderfully themed swaps open right now, who am I to say no? #MythsAndLegendsSwap . Visit @MeganAnn for sign up link! There is also a Juniors version for the kidlets!
1. Old school Star Trek Novels
2. Off Friday so quality reading time, working Saturday & Sunday
3. I recommend this to everyone, even those familiar with Greek & Roman mythology. Hamiton's book is the definitive work on the subject.
4. Does working hard for less than your worth count as a stupid human trick, or just being stupid?
5. 🤚🤚🤚🤚

Kicking of #24in48 with the 12 hour #bookshelfiechallenge! Lots of time to make up for since i slept through the whole first quarter!! 😂😴
My first book of the day is Edith Hamilton's Mythology, to check off the mythology/folklore box on the #readharder challenge 😁
What an amazing book! I remember reading bits of it years ago, but to listen to the whole saga was mesmerizing. I'd forgotten how violent the tales were, blood drenched in murder, revenge, suicides (Hades would be full up on suicides alone), rapes and tortures. 5💥💥💥💥💥 out of 5
