3.5/5 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

It was a good book but dragged on a bit. It could have been made into a novella or short story instead.

I thought it was a little slow to get into but then it really picked up. Someone loaned me the series and I didn't pay attention and read this first by accident. Now to actually start the series....

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5. Wanted so badly to enjoy this story but I just didn‘t. I enjoyed the first three in the series, and will finish the second prequel shortly.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars This action packed prequel was depressing. I enjoyed the new perspective and characters, but it was sad to see how awful things were, even in the beginning.

Part of @WanderingBookaneer 's classroom library (and yes, it's after 8 and we're still at school -- Middle School Open House just ended)

rachelm Omg look at all those fabulous books. 😍 7y
Nuwanda Amazing! May I ask what the stickers are? 7y
Peddler410 @Nuwanda My guess is Lexile numbers 7y

WanderingBookaneer @Nuwanda : Lexile Levels. I'm not a fan of having them. The kids can pick books above or below their level, but this way they know if they'll encounter harder words beforehand. 7y
WanderingBookaneer @Peddler410 : Your guess is right. 7y
LibrarianRyan I agree I hate lexile. I hate AR even more. 7y
Cortg Big classroom collection! Why are some books facing a different direction? 7y
MinDea That is amazing. I would have been in heaven 7y
WanderingBookaneer @Cortg : They are too tall to fit on the shelf. 7y
Cortg @WanderingBookaneer Of course! Wishing you and @BookishMarginalia a great school year! (edited) 7y

This book gave me a good inside on the events that happened after the sunflares. And it gave me some answers on guestions i had after reading the maze runner trilogy. I gave this book a 4/5 star rating.

A prequel to how The Flare was introduced to the population after the sun flares and why. Good twist at the end but didn't hold my attention like the main series.

I liked this prequel, although it's best to read it at the end.

This book was intense with the characters constantly moving and in danger. It was exciting but the thrill wore out as the chases never seemed to end and even tired me out as the reader. But thankfully I pushed through and this has become one of my favorite books of the series as the ending is incredible. Don't give up on it! 👍

Just finished this at 3 am :)
Wow!

It's been a year since I've read the The death cure and this installation was very refreshing and made me excited for this series all over again!

I like this group of characters more than Thomas and the gang.
I enjoyed the constant action and the what would imagine is true representation of humanity under those circumstances.
This gave me some walking dead vibes at times! 9 stars out of 10 ⭐️

What the heck! The book I read before this, STORM, had a tiny girl named priti, who broke my heart!

Now I have to go through this again with 5 year old DeeDee, I'm on chapter 19 and I am already preparing for more tugs on my heart strings!! 😭 #themazerunner #thekillorder #dashner

This wasn't exactly the prequel I wanted but it turned around in a way I liked. I couldn't help but notice that again Dashner created a bunch of cool female characters who disappear for most of the story. (I usually don't notice this in fiction so not sure why it bothers me so much in this series.)

The prequel to The Maze Runner series, it should still be read after completing the original 3 books. This one was actually my favorite of the series, because it answers so many questions about how and why WICKED and The Maze were created.

ShatterMeFangirl I read the trilogy but never prequel, maybe I should read this one! 9y
Turtley_Awesome_Bookworm You definitely should! A new set of characters, because it's before Thomas and the others are even born. It's about the start and spread of The Flare mostly. It's really good!!! 9y

I liked that this book pulled some lingering pieces together for the story. As this series has progressed it seems drawn out and forced. I hear there is another book coming out so we will see!
