Lessons in Chemistry Special Edition (Special)
Lessons in Chemistry Special Edition (Special) | Bonnie Garmus
4 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
An elegant, deluxe edition of the #1 New York Times bestseller--marking the 2nd anniversary of its publication--that will make the perfect gift or treat for yourself. Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. When she finds herself unwed and pregnant, she's forced out, reluctantly taking a job as the host of the TV cooking show Supper at Six. But Elizabeth has no intention of sticking to the recipe. Instead, she teaches women what they're really made of - at the molecular level. And in doing so, dares them to change the status quo.

1) Ranier cherries ... so hard to choose just one but their season is so short it feels like a real treat.

2) Loved the book and the show

TheSpineView I don't think I have ever had a Rainier cherry. Hmmm... 4d
Lesliereadsalot They‘re definitely the best cherries! Liked the tv series way more than the book. 4d

“Whenever you start doubting yourself, whenever you feel afraid, just remember. Courage is the root of change and change is what we're chemically designed to.”

Pickpick

My irl book club pick for September, the cover did not give me hope. And it was light - I started and finished it over the long weekend while also cataloging my library. But it was entertaining and will (maybe) give us something to talk about. So a soft pick.
