Today THE PRINCESS OF LAS VEGAS paperback went on sale, and I visited two of my favorite Vermont bookstores: the Barnes and Noble in South Burlington and Phoenix Books in Burlington. Sebastian Ryder and Renee Reiner both wear a tiara WAY better than I do. Bookstores rock; booksellers rule. (Also, don‘t you love new paperback cover?)

pickThe setting is Las Vegas and the characters were interesting. Two sisters from Vermont meet again in the city. The younger one, Betsy and her adopted 13 year old adopted daughter move to Las Vegas. Older sister Chrissy has been an impersonator of Princess Lady Diana for a long time. The novel has lots of gangsters and horrible people who are easily hated. Will the good sisters reconcile the and help solve the murders? 4/5

pickRead this in one day and I never do that! Read some reviews after I read this and am always amazed that when people read they don‘t do it just for entertainment. It‘s a story people!:).Loved the Diana aspect, the setting in Las Vegas, the smarter than a whip foster daughter and even the crypto thugs. a good story with a lot of pop culture thrown in . Same chairs used in Star Trek were used on the Brady Bunch set! I love facts like that!🤩
pickThis started off with a bang, then was more of a slow burn. Told in alternating POVs, I had no idea what was going on and why (but in a good way!) and had fun trying to figure it out. But all the pieces came together nicely!
Back in March, I heard @ChrisBohjalian speak at my local indie bookstore, and got him to sign my book. He was great!

Chrissy‘s boss is found dead in the desert, things unravel from there.Characters & Las Vegas shine!
pickThis was a fun one for me. It‘s a bit of a slow burn (after starting with a bang). I loved all the Vegas details and the main character‘s job as a Princess Diana impersonator. I was lucky to get to meet the author at my local bookstore recently with @OriginalCyn620 and @Graciouswarriorprincess
pickI really, truly thought I had one character pegged for something and it turned out not to happen. I'm glad for that but was half-way to being ready to pat myself on the back only to be let down by the fact that I was wrong. 🤷🤦 I learned a lot about Princess Diana (impersonation) and cryptocurrency so I can only imagine the author learned even more in preparing for this book.

Crissy Dowling channels Princess Diana in her one-woman cabaret.
Her younger sister, Betsy, also has the Diana look, but she is a social worker in their home state of Vermont. There‘s no wasted space in this novel, which clips on powered by the compelling sisters, their strange situation, & Marisa, the adopted thirteen year old . The denoument is surprising and makes perfect sense, and the road there is satisfyingly twisty.

My #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin picks for this month are two very recent releases. I‘m excited to have a chance to read them before something else catches my eye! I‘m especially excited for the Jane Casey — I love her Maeve Kerrigan series.
pickI always look forward to a new release from this author. Each book is so different from his previous works and I just buckle up for the ride I‘m about to embark. I couldn‘t stop reading this and loved Crissy, Betsy, and Marissa. Chrissy working a Las Vegas residency as a successful Princess Diana impersonator amongst contemporary things of today just somehow worked. Honestly, how does Chris come up with his stories!?
The correct caption is:
A) This is an author talking about his childhood on day 12 of a book tour.
B) This is a toddler in his Dad‘s Suit who didn‘t get his cake at his birthday party.
C) A tiara‘s a really good look on a bald man.
pickNot the best Bohjalian book I've read, but still a good story. My favorite part of the whole book is Marisa. Her parts are rather brief but you get to know her enough to love her!

Re-listening to Slot Machine Fever Dreams before reading @chrisbojalian ‘s new book. It is the 2nd book I‘ve ever read with a 2nd Person Narrator!!
