#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView
Thanks for the tag, Lisa!
1) least was marking homework and tests
2) Sam doesn't really dislike his job, but he's not a fan of it either. He's trying to support his team by faking amnesia.

i was reluctant to read this at first because i'm still hungover from boyfriend material but O-M-G. i'm sorry but i do indeed love a grumpy violent man who gets his emotional support from a cat that isn't his and sunshine but actually very lonely man who got abandoned by said cat. one of Alexis's weaker titles but still entertaining 😆 #queer #gay #funny
Re-reading the #audiobook version again. 😬
I said I wouldn't dress up for Halloween/Samhain. I'm not, I wear the shirt and skirt all year round, but I rarely wear them together.
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🦇
And yes, @BarbaraBB, I'm wearing the grey dress underneath the shirt and skirt. 😉
I still don‘t bloody know what the 10 things are, but I adore this book so much! Topical for an Alexis Hall book. Hall just has this amazing way of making fall in love with the the MCs, hard and fast!

I got this when it came out, but I never got to it and of course I can‘t sleep now, so I guess it‘s time.

I started reading this at the end of Dec but I was a bit burnt out on holiday reads by then so I didn't get far. I had a whim to pick it back up recently & ended up really enjoying it.
Hall brings his signature style to this hilarious fake amnesia story. Quirky characters, silly shenanigans, & a heartwarming romance. I liked the family dynamics around a big holiday celebration. And of course I loved Jonathan's relationship w/ Sam's ugly cat Gollum
I usually have a DNF in my Pride TBR but I didn‘t think it‘d happen this soon! Simply put, the humour didn‘t jive with me. All the side characters were the same naggy, ‘funny‘, argumentative people and it was beginning to drag… and that was only 100 pages in. I was excited for this one and loved the premise. But sadly, a flop for me.
I've never heard of Bubble and Squeak before reading this book. But how could I not look up a vegan version of this recipe? I mean it's called "Bubble and Squeak" ?
It had some Röschti vibes but with more veggies in ?
It seems like LGBTQIA+ romance novels become my new escape genre. Would you have told me some years ago that I would enjoy romance books, I would've called you crazy. Since I'm new to these kind of books I can't really judge the tropes and how they were executed. All I can say is that this book made me laugh so hard, reading those parts to my wife and made her laugh too. And I totally rooted for those two and didn't want to stop reading.
Sam likes his job selling bed and bath stuff, unfortunately he doesn‘t get along with the owner, Johnathan. When an accident mid-firing leaves Sam with a concussion, he desperately decides to pretend to have amnesia to buy him time to save his and his team‘s jobs.
Johnathan guiltily volunteers to take care of Sam until he gets better but neither of them expect to actually get along. Until the truth comes out.
#Two4Tuesday a little late.
1. I really liked 10 Things That Never Happened, Heartstopper vol 4 & 5 and Into the Tide.
2. I am going to be rereading some Marissa Meyer books before meeting her for a book signing. I'm also going to start the Shelter and Skelton Creek series.

Book, coffee, weighted blanket and my puppy. Perfect Saturday. ❤️

This book is so hilarious. I'm not even a quarter way through it and almost every page has me giggling out loud.
"Jonathan... Almost gives something vaguely like the impression that he might be beginning to feel something that might at some point move somewhere in the direction of guilty."
"It probably says good things about modern Britain - or maybe just modern Liverpool - that when I was growing up I got way less shit for being gay than I got for being named after a hobbit."

Although the pretext for two characters being thrown together in this romance is ridiculous (feigning amnesia) - it doesnt matter AT ALL because Alexis Hall writes such wonderful characters with realistic and funny banter. I loved the side characters too, who had some of the best lines. Made me laugh out loud a couple times! I love that her characters have imperfections and baggage that makes them more rounded too 💕

Finally starting this one ?

I'm so glad I got the #audiobook! Will Watts was great narrating this accent heavy book with a Scouse MC and 90% secondary characters from Sheffield.
Solid, Alexis Hall M/M #Romance/#RomCom.
Sam is the branch manager of a bed&bathroom store in Sheffield. He has to come to the Croydon branch to meet with the boss. Sam has an accident in the shower stall department and has to stay with his boss Jonathan because of concussion and maybe amnesia. ⬇️
First Christmas themed book of the season. Wasn't aware it's a 🎄 book.
I only wanted to listen to it while shopping, but I can't put it down. I loooooooove the Northern accents. My ears are soooo happy right now.
I listened to this one and loved it. I started the ARC in July but had a health setback then. Turned to the audiobook this month and I‘m so glad I did. I love hearing different accents.
Alexis Hall is just fabulous! The characters, the settings and the story are all so well crafted.

I‘m an Alexis Hall fan & there were parts of this I loved. But I finished the book and I have no idea what the 10 Things that Never Happened Were. Also, while I love British humor & it usually works for me, a lot of what was supposed to be funny just wasn‘t funny to me. ❤️❤️❤️ #romcom
Is it written by Alexis Hall? Well, I‘m going to enjoy it then, obviously. This one has all the wit and heart I could hope for. I have to say, though, for an Australian of my generation a character named Aunty Jack creates a mental image totally different from the one I am sure the author intended🤣🤣🤣
Well... I was scared there wouldn't be a HEA! At least a teeny bit. ;-)
Very fun rom-com inspired romance. Took me a bit to get into because the workplace shenanigans were tiresome, but I loved it by the end and even cried a bit. The audiobook narration was extremely good, with an astonishing variety of distinct voices and accents.

I love how Alexis Hall delivers romcoms that genuinely earn the moniker. 10 THINGS THAT NEVER HAPPENED is packed full of wacky hijinks, OTT scenarios, and running gags. (My favourite is how the characters always state the full name of every posh bed & bath fixture their company sells, even if someone else just did so.) I snickered my way through it, more than willing to overlook the implausibility because it was just so. much. fun. ⬇️
I finished the tagged book while I worked on this tiny greenhouse! Full review coming soon, but for now I‘ll say it‘s pure holiday romcom. I had a lot of fun with it and got a real kick out of the narrator‘s northernness and sense of comedic timing. #audiocrafting
I‘ve sewn up a storm this month, which is a big part of why I‘ve been reading so slowly. I move around enough and make so much noise that #audiosewing isn‘t often an option for me now I‘ve switched from phone-listening to iPad-listening (sans wireless earbuds), but I did get through a fair chunk of the tagged book while I did the hem on this piece by hand. The story‘s got me chortling merrily away, AND it‘s put me in the mood for holiday romances.
Okay, so you know when a book has plot holes, and unlikable characters (but not really in a good way), and lying at the beginning of a maybe relationship which is just not the foundation for a relationship (maybe). But.. But. The storytelling is so so good that you cannot put the unbelievable and very misguided book down?
That is Alexis Hall's newest book out October 17th. If you liked his Boyfriend Material you will enjoy this too, probably.

Here are my July & August ARCs. None are audiobooks so this is ambitious for me (my 👀 actually).
Are you looking forward to any of these?
#BookSpin = Audiobook
#DoubleSpin = ARC or Owned
Here are the 2 books I‘ve chosen for the prompts of audiobook & ARC. I have high hopes for both.
