Whatever.
Whatever.: or how junior year became totally f$@cked | S. J. Goslee
It's like the apocalypse came, only instead of nuclear bombs and zombies, Mike gets school participation, gay thoughts, and mother-effin' cheerleaders. Junior year is about to start. Here's what Mike Tate knows: His friends are awesome and their crappy garage band is a great excuse to drink cheap beer. Rook Wallace is the devil. The Lemonheads rock. And his girlfriend Lisa is the coolest. Then Lisa breaks up with him, which makes Mike only a little sad, because they'll stay friends and he never knew what to do with her boobs anyway. But when Mike finds out why Lisa dumped him, it blows his mind. And worsehe gets elected to homecoming court. With a standout voice, a hilariously honest view on sex and sexuality, and enough f-bombs to make your mom blush, this debut YA novel is a fresh, modern take on the coming-out story.

This book is an easy read. It's quite short so I read it in one sitting. I found that there wasn't much plot which might be because of how short the book is. I also found it problematic that the author decides to make the main character fall in love with their ex-bully. Because that's totally not toxic behavior. Especially when the excuse is I was in denial of my feelings for you! Yeah, it's not a valid excuse.

This actually wasn‘t that hard... Chocolate and books were picked with no hesitation but the third pick came down to Netflix and jeans. I picked jeans because they keep my postpartum pooch in check. Netflix can‘t do that yet. 😂
#pick3

AlaMich Maybe, but Netflix can distract you from the fact that you have a pooch! 😆 6y

GypsyKat Great choices! ❤️ 6y
Smangela Omg your jeans explanation kills me 😂😂 I wanted to stay in my maternity jeans for life. 6y
Chelleo 🤣 6y
EchoLogical @Smangela I didn‘t buy any for this exact reason... I‘d never stop wearing them. I live in Florida so I was able to get away with maxi skirts for most of my pregnancy. 😂 6y
Smangela Oh yea, not quite as easy in Ohio lol but maxi skirts were also awesome during pregnancy haha 6y

#Top10oftheYear #2018 Count down: #9
On of the first books I read last year and one of my favourites. I‘m pretty sure I reread this one several times. It‘s a cute romance, coming of age story that‘s a bit cliche, but filled will lots of fun, interesting characters. If you enjoyed Simon vs Homosapien Agenda, be sure to check this one out as well.

Over the next few days I‘ll be posting my favorite books of 2018. I didn‘t get as much reading done as I would have liked, due to moving twice and a pretty major breakup, but I still got a good chunk read so I‘ll share the highlights or an otherwise mostly crummy year ❤️😁👍 #Top10oftheYear #2018

Its a bit of a silly, highschool romance with a laid-back attitude. Its nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary. But it is a heck of a good time. Everyone had charming personalities, which made rooting for them (all of them really) easy and enjoyable.

This is a person asking for a book rec on facebook. Why do I facebook?! 🙄🙄🙄

Plus I feel like a true book lover doesn't describe genres as trash.

And lady, Stephen King is the shit.

Side note: I cannot stop laughing about this and I'm not sure what mass market paperbacks have to do with anything.

emilyhaldi Wow that is beyond obnoxious 7y
MicheleinPhilly Good grief. Dramatic much??? 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @emilyhaldi in the comments she marked "Girl with all the Gifts" as "good trash". I didn't know fiction was trash. ?? So obnoxious. 7y

Ashley_Nicoletto @MicheleinPhilly 😂😂 I don't think her and I would be friends. She's just to well read for me. 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes YIKES what a piece of work. Everyone has specific preferences but if you are asking for other peoples' time and effort, the onus is on YOU to sift through them and find what you want, not to make more work for them and sound crazy ungrateful at the same time. 7y
merelybookish Wow! One of the many good things about Litsy is I don't spend much time on FB anymore. 7y
Smangela A bitttttt on the condescending side... reminds me of a teacher who wants to ask a question only if it‘s a guarantee the students will answer incorrectly 🙄🙄 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Natasha.C.Barnes Her list and preferences were just so strange. How can anyone know what "trash" entails to you and what's with the no mass market paperbacks? Will she not read anything that's been made into one ever? The cuts out a lot of options. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @merelybookish I turned off my Facebook for about six months and it was glorious. Thinking I may have to go that route again. 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @Ashley_Nicoletto It sounds like she thinks "literary fiction" (a category that doesn't really exist anymore) is the only good stuff but sometimes she deigns to enjoy a "cheap" read in something thriller/science fictiony, etc. and she doesn't understand that many books end up in mass market paperbacks--it's not just Danielle Steele, you know? (edited) 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes Hah! I'm typing so fast I keep having to go back and edit my typos. 7y
Cityofamber 🙄🙄😳 why even ask if you obviously above what others will suggest. ;) 7y
britt_brooke Why do I get the feeling that this person isn‘t nearly as smart as she thinks? I mean, honestly, if she reads as widely as she claims, she would know that Litsy is the place to be (not that we need her kind here 😆). 7y
swishandflick Yeesh. That's obnoxious! 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @britt_brooke I got that feeling too. What do you think would happen if I comment on it with "oh oh Eliza and her Monsters!!" ?? 7y
batsy This person is missing out. On all of the unexpected great books that can pop up in any genre, and in any kind of form. 7y
JacqMac 😂 I rolled my eyes so hard I think I sprained one. So obnoxious! 7y
cariashley Woooooow. 🙄 Facebook is the worst! 7y
britt_brooke @Ashley_Nicoletto 😆 Do it! Then post her response here. 😂 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @batsy My thoughts exactly. Some of the best reads are unexpected. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @JacqMac 😂😂😂😂 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @cariashley Definitely true. Rule #1 never read the comments. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @britt_brooke Update - I can't comment on the post because the post is gone. She is probably a Litsy member and I've just highly offended someone. 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ 7y
britt_brooke @Ashley_Nicoletto 😆🙊😂 Still funny. She ought to know better. 7y
LeahBergen This made me snort out loud. Every tried-and-true, brilliant classic has been published in mass market paperback. 🙄🙄🙄 7y
LeahBergen I actually don't like mass market paperbacks - but it's only because the font size can be too small for my old eyes now! 😆 I used to read them all the time. (edited) 7y
LauraJ @Ashley_Nicoletto 😝I know you‘re not supposed to feed trolls, but I really wanted to see what book she chose. 😬 How am I supposed to know if what I‘m reading right now is TRASH! 7y
erzascarletbookgasm I‘m rolling my eyes 🙄as I read her post... I don‘t like mass market paperbacks too, but not for her reasons. Only because the prints are wayyy too small for my aged eyes to read. @LeahBergen 🙌😁 7y
Kalalalatja I'm doing all the eyerolling right now 🙄🙄🙄 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @erzascarletbookgasm @LeahBergen I don't read mass market paper backs either due to the tinnnyyy font. 😂😂 This post was just confusing in so many ways. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @LauraJ Well from what I saw in the comments she had marked The Girl with All the Gifts and The Girl on the Train as trash so what I'm reading is. 😂😂 7y
coffeenebula Way to suck the joy out of...well, everything! 🙄🙄🙄 7y
Reviewsbylola This lady is an asshole and she should be doing her own research if she‘s that picky. 7y
vivastory The level of pretentiousness in her post is breathtaking. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Reviewsbylola 😂😂😂 Yessssssss. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @vivastory did you know she's so well read? 😂😂😂 7y

Laugh-out-loud funny and sexy. Mike is 16 and figuring out his sexuality. It's great to read a comedy versus a drama about a guy coming out in high school. #funfridayphoto

Overall, a good book. There are a few little things that bothered me, but it kept me engaged and I read it from cover to cover yesterday. It's definitely for older teens since there's more detailed sexual content than I normally see in YA.

kay89 I just picked this up from the library! 8y
