Working my way through Emily Wilson‘s translation of The Odyssey during #deweys24hrreadathon! #readathon
Pausing the shin honkaku mystery binge I‘ve been on lately to read this new thriller from Alyssa Cole. Bit of a slow starter but once it gains momentum it really goes!
On to book 2, the Blackhawks game, and a little lunch. #readathon
A wonderful little novella about science, discovery, ethics and human curiosity. Narrated by one of four astronauts on a deep space long term mission of exploration, this story asks some big questions about the nature of science and knowledge and finding answers for no reason other than to know. My favorite of Becky Chambers works by far. #readathon
Getting a bit of a late start to the #readathon this morning.
Very mixed feelings about this one. The premise of a human civilization trying to survive on a tidally locked planet is ingenious and I loved the interactions with the sentient native species. However, a lot of this book is focused on dealing with the dissatisfaction and differences of the two settlements. The structure of the novel combined with overly detailed world building elements muddles what could have been an interesting story.
Going to try and do the #MayScavengerHunt! I think this book will cover the more than 300 pages, multiple points of view, and where a character dies. Wish me luck!
Working my way through this one over lunch. It started off so strong but got a little mired after that. Not entirely sure how I feel about it yet. #booklunch
Got a little reading done while waiting for some friends to arrive at the coffee shop. Highly recommend Finom Coffee in Chicago if you‘re in the area!
Can‘t miss out on a #readathonpets opportunity! Here‘s Fatima who eventually cooperated long enough for a photo and then ran away immediately. Couldn‘t manage to get the book in there with her though! 😂 #readathon
Started my Dewey‘s Readathon off with this one. Not going to attempt a full 24 hours this year, but trying to get in what I can. Anyone else participating? #readathon

#24in48
Grabbed some snacks and starting this one. Hopefully I can push through a good chunk of the last 3 1/2 hours to hit my 24 hour goal before stopping for dinner! #24in48
Entering hour sixteen with a couple volumes of Saga and some avocado toast. 😍 #24in48
It may have taken me 10 hours and 10 mins to finish, but this was a good comprehensive look at US-Russian diplomatic relations during Obama‘s presidency. If you don‘t mind a more academic writing style this is a good read.
Made a quick trip out to my local coffee shop to grab lunch! If you‘re also doing the readathon, what are your strategies for meals? I‘d love to hear what you guys have come up with to cut down on the time loss!
#24in48
Starting off #24in48 in bed with this one ...which is due tomorrow 🙈
It‘s been a fun couple days of book mail!! My BOTM selection, a LibraryThing Early Reviewer Book, a GoodReads Giveaway win, the new Mercenaries of Empire installment, and a surprise win from Read it Forward! When it rains it pours!!
About to cross the finish line on this one. It‘s a much more interesting and engaging read than I expected it to be! #booklunch
Look what just came in! I know what my plans for tonight are going to be.
Got waylaid by life events last week. Finishing this over last night‘s stir fry leftovers today! #booklunch
Still working my way through this one. I‘ve enjoyed the stories I‘ve read so far but I can‘t seem to work up any enthusiasm to pick up the book and finish it. #booklunch
Part true crime investigation, part memoir, I‘ll Be Gone in the Dark is a compulsively readable look into the crimes of the Golden State Killer and McNamara‘s preoccupation with both the case and True Crime. Published posthumously from a partial manuscript and pieced together from notes, this book is a fascinating look into McNamara‘s process, investigation, and obsession. Highly recommend this one!
New Library haul. You‘ll never guess what I‘ve been obsessed with lately!
Enjoying this with some tea before I go see Black Panther this afternoon!
Eating ramen while I work my way through the next chapter of Sorcerer‘s Stone for the podcast. #booklunch #somanytabs
Train read! As is now the grand tradition, #24in48 fell on the one weekend this month that I‘m absolutely slammed. Trying to squeeze in what reading I can!
Book mail! Won this one off a Goodreads giveaway. Think my nephew is going to enjoy it too!
A cup of earl grey, a lemon pepper turkey and butterkäse cheese sandwich, and a book about arson sound like a great lunch to me. #booklunch
Going to try and finish this one today. #booklunch
Nothing like burying yourself in another world entirely over your lunch break! I also need to update my reading log, I've fallen behind...
Watching the first Harry Potter while reading the second, like you do.
Got myself some bookends to try and contain the library borrowed portion of my TBR. Looks so much nicer than the haphazard stack next to the TV I did before!
Packing for Mars is full of interesting tidbits about the squishy biological side of sending people hurtling into space. It's also a little scattershot in it's approach, jumping tangentially from topic to topic in a chapter and glancing off some topics in favor of weird asides from the author. This is a decent book, just not for me.
Trying to finish this one today! Hopefully I can enjoy my chicken salad this time. It's been a hard one to read while eating, too much talk about vomiting 🤢
Loving a relaxing morning sipping iced coffee and trying out the Libby app from OverDrive!
