It was an impulse buy at Barnes & Noble pre pandemic, and even though it had some strong authors it looked super out there, so I wasn‘t sure if it would be great or terrible, but its like it was tailor made for me!

True to the collection‘s name it alternated stories abound robots & fairies. After each story the authors explained why they were on team robot or team fairy, which was always very funny! Most short story collections end up being worth reading for 1 or 2 great stories even though the rest are just meh. In this collection the ratio was completely reversed. Every story was great! The standouts were the ones where I thought: I would read this novel.

I hope to finish up Kicked, Bitten, Scratched tomorrow. I started it in November but put it down for most of December. It‘s good, I think I just burned myself out on NF for that month.

If I get through the others I‘ll start on The Bean Trees for #AuthorAMonth. 🙂📚

Are you #TeamRobot or #TeamFairy?

In the likely event of our societal collapse I'd prefer our new overlords to be fairies. Yes, robots are really cool, but they get more interesting the closer they become to human. Fairies are Other. They're wild and unpredictable and MAGIC! I, for one, welcome the fairies & wish them luck.

One of the best anthologies I've read in a long time. Especially the Max Gladstone, Sarah Gailey, & Seanan Mcguire stories.

Max Goldstone does things with words that I've never seen anyone else do. He often leaves me breathless with his phrases. 🧡🧡

I've been pretty swamped with work the last couple of weeks, and this collection of stories provided the perfect distraction when I was able to squeeze some reading time in. Short stories can be hit or miss for me, but I really enjoyed most of these. And as bonus in this book, each story was followed with the author's thoughts as to why they were team robot or team fairy. Fun read all around!

This one may be my favorite story in the book so far!

May reads! Standouts were the Cobain biography, Tenth of December, Bloodchild, and Robots vs Fairies (a lot of short stories for me this month). Also loved It Ended Badly, by the author of Get Well Soon. Both recommended for fans of tongue in cheek history books

I've been picking off the short stories in this anthology very sporadically. Whenever I need a quick distraction or just feel like a change of pace from a current read. Almost through with it now - but have definitely enjoyed it. 👍

I read a reprint of Sarah Gailey's 'Bread and Milk and Salt' on Tor about dark fairies and terrible humans and some sweet revenge.

This book took quite some time for me to finish, but I think that was only bc I'm not used to reading short story anthologies. I enjoyed most of the stories, and thought it was super interesting that they had the authors tell after their story why they were "team robot" or "team fairy." Second book finished during the #24b42019 #readathon

I loved this short story collection! With very few exceptions, all of the stories were excellent. (One of them, Ironheart, was super ableist. A couple others were boring or sexist.) Highly recommend this collection of stories about why robots or fairies are the best. #TeamRobot

Still working my way through this one. I‘ve enjoyed the stories I‘ve read so far but I can‘t seem to work up any enthusiasm to pick up the book and finish it. #booklunch
