#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 This was my choice for October #TBRTarot, “Choose a book that is less than… 200 pages.” (audiobook run time is 3 hours 21 minutes, a novella) This second book in The Murderbot Diaries was as enjoyable as the first. Recommended.
The book was ok, and the story reasonably entertaining, but I preferred the first book of the series
It took me awhile to get into the actual plot of this one, but I still relate to Murderbot and loved the addition of ART. Plot picked up by the end and left with enough questions about what Murderbot will do next.
I'm really liking this series! Murderbot, with its compassion for humans and confusion about (and frustration with) their behavior is highly relatable. Wells's world building is thorough yet unobtrusive.
Photo: Inquisitive piha at the zoo the other day. Birds often seem a little like robots to me. I ❤️ them.
Had to do some fasting blood work this morning (thankful for the lab being open on Sunday, so I don‘t have to do it before work). Enjoying breakfast of an egg and cheese on sourdough and an iced americano and the second Murderbot book (I need a break from books with romance plots/subplots 😆 )
I love ART. lol
This continues to be a goddamn delight, as per my review of book one. I love how the murderbot character interrogates what it means to be human.
This is the second novella in this series and while I did not love it as much as I did the first one, I am hooked and will be reading more about Murderbot and hopefully ART. I think this one lacked a bit of the emotional content I would have liked, but since it was all from a non-human's perspective, it is understandable. The humour was great and I enjoyed seeing Murderbot grow and understand more things. It was a fun, quick read. 3.75/5 stars
Just over here chortling with glee. There are funny moments, mostly as a result of wry asides and the 'why me, why am I saddled with the humans with no survival instincts?!' reflections of Murderbot, but mostly I'm just happy because I love being back in this world. 1/?
“...knowledge bases and unsolicited opinions.“
Pros and Cons. 😏
One of my favourite parts of rereading this series is whenever Murderbot collects more helpless humans like they're stray ducklings. 🥹
This book is a bit more meditative in nature compared to the first part. It's still full of humor and of an unexpected adventure, and lovely heroes - human and not. The ending is sort of obvious: even if you a Murderbot in a search of answers, finding them won't be any easy and you have to start looking from within.

This was a lot better than the first one. The lack of worldbuilding is a bit of a bummer but I hope the more Murderbot interacts with the world the more we find out.
ART may be even funnier than Murderbot! I love the two of them together, I hope this isn‘t the last we see of this friendship.
In the 2nd novella, the rogue SEC unit goes to confront their past, bonds with the artificial intelligence in charge of his transport over their love of media consumption. When I‘m need of an employment contract, Murderbot is forced to take a job helping some researchers get back their files, which quickly gets much more dangerous.
Again, a strange & fun way to present issues like burnout, depression, the illusion of free will.

I love Murderbot! This series has me hooked. Such quick, entertaining, clever books. Looking forward to the next one!
I just ADORE Murderbot as a character, something so adorable xD
There were some intriguing things happening, and I wanted to see what was going on. Some things got solved, but left me intrigued to know more.

I think I read book one to meet a readathon requirement and enjoyed it. I read this one for the same reason and liked it too. I don‘t typically choose sci-fi on my own, but if I‘m pointed in that direction I do tend to enjoy it.

I joined the #GetAClue readathon hosted by RainyBlueReads on instagram. I needed a book about a non-human so I decided to continue with The Murderbot Diaries. g
Ooooooh, ART has a female computer voice!!! 😍😍😍😍
Liked this one better than the GraphicAudio of book 1. I'm sold. I want all of Murderbot as GraphicAudio now.

4/5⭐ Murderbot making a friend is so pure. I'm digging the journey into the past. Thoroughly enjoyable. #bookspin
I don‘t know why I waited so long to read this series. But after finally reading All Systems Red this weekend (and I found the receipt for it dated Aug 2022), I immediately went out & bought the rest of the series. Book 2, just as awesome, maybe even more because of ART. 5⭐️ On to book 3!
The second book in this series did not disappoint! I love the addition and development of the AI character ART (as well as the moniker and the meaning behind it). The further development of the main character's story also pulled me in so much, I ordered the next book the day I finished this one!
I‘ve been trying to find these at my library since reading #1. Finally found them! Love this series. If AI can begin to feel and care will we be safe or sorry? Love Murderbot!:)
I listened to this in one night. I always enjoy a good murderbot story. I'll continue to make my way through this series. 4⭐️
New location, new fire and a new book. I‘m loving this reverse spring break at my alma mater. Lots of new things here on and around campus but plenty of nostalgia for this Spartan. Go Green!!!
Working my way through this series and I have to say, I really appreciate the client-centered nature of Murderbot's practice 😂
Bots keeping each other company. Current anxiety over AI CREATING media (Midjourney, ChatGPT)—SecUnit and ART have skipped creation and are now media CONSUMERS, bonding over their favorite shows. 🤣 “Becoming human.” Good pacing. AI with clear sense of duty makes strong MC. Clever use of security cameras & feeds for description. P65 “Humans are nervous of me because I‘m a terrifying murderbot, and I‘m nervous of them because they‘re humans.” 2018
After gaining its freedom by rescuing its clients, Murderbot decides to travel to the mining colony where it earned its name.
It talks its way into an unmanned research transport that is a bit more sentient than your average vessel. Murderbot and ART form a tentative friendship over soap operas and ART helps Murderbot get answers.
Finished 2/23/2022

I liked this book even more than the first in the series. The new characters were more entertaining and Wells is great at writing the internal dialogue of the narrator.
I'm glad I picked up Murderbot's story again. This one was a lot more fun than the first one, I think maybe because I'm now familiar with the world and Murderbot's character. This one follows the journey to try to find out about its past. On the way we meet ART, a bot-driven transport ship who decides to help out. I loved the two's back and forth relationship.

Awesome. Murderbot has a new collection of "soft...tiny" human ducklings to look after, and ART is a treasure.????
THE SASS! ?
"(I could have told the company that the fact that SecUnits are terrifying killing machines does, in fact, make humans nervous regardless of what we look like, but nobody listens to me."
Transport ship gets a (reluctant) friend to watch shows with! 🥰🤖

Murderbot, with the help of A.R.T, works on becoming more "human" in this addition to the series. The relationship between the two makes for such a great story. Once again I find Murderbot to be an endearing character with very relatable thoughts and characteristics.
This series has great characters, an interesting world, and the action is just the right amount for the size of the book.
Love how these are short lil works that I can finish in one shot while I draw or paint or whatever. I‘m totally engrossed in this universe and enjoying the characters, can‘t wait to get the rest of the series!
The babies chose to climb up next to me to go to sleep, so of course I had no choice but to stay in this spot and finish my book! I loved this just as much as All Systems Red - Murderbot is just the most endearing character! #fosterkittens #catsoflitsy #kittensoflitsy
