The Cake Bible
The Cake Bible | Rose Levy Beranbaum, Dean G. Bornstein
4 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
"If you ever bake a cake, this book will become your partner in the kitchen." -- from the foreword by Maida Heatter This is the classic cake cookbook that enables anyone to make delicious, exquisite cakes. As a writer for food magazines, women's magazines, and newspapers, including The New York Times, Rose Levy Beranbaum's trademark is her ability to reduce the most complex techniques to easy-to-follow recipes. Rose makes baking a joy. This is the definitive work on cakes by the country's top cake baker. The Cake Bible shows how to: Mix a buttery, tender layer cake in under five minutes with perfect results every time Make the most fabulous chocolate cake you ever imagined with just three ingredients Find recipes for every major type of cake, from pancakes to four-tiered wedding cakes Make cakes with less sugar but maximum flavor and texture Make many low- to no- cholesterol, low-saturated-fat recipes

Despite the fact that I can barely cook my way out of a box of mac & cheese, I can bake just about anything. Probably not all that surprising for a borderline control freak with a serious sweet tooth!

saresmoore 😆 I'm a borderline control freak, too and I love to bake. I think you may be onto something. 8y
queerbookreader Have you ever made the King Arthur Flour double chocolate banana bread? It is worth killing for 😛😛😛😛😛😛 8y

Cookbooks are in every room of my house and this doesn't begin to cover it. #augustphotochallenge

jpmcwisemorgan My new place has open cabinets in the kitchen so I'm going to use some of them for my cookbooks. 8y
Lynnsoprano Sounds like our house. 8y
Redwritinghood Yup - I have that problem too. 8y

LauraBeth @Suzze I also have a bookcase in my garage with some cookbooks on it 😀 8y
LauraBeth That sounds perfect @jpmcwisemorgan! I've thought about just taking a door off of one of my cabinets to make open shelving for some cookbooks 8y
Stephtck I totally understand, I just moved s bookshelf into my kitchen just for the cookbooks :) 8y
LauraBeth That's a good idea @Stephtck 😀 8y
Stephtck When I'm back from my weekend getaway I'll have to do my cookbook stack pic :) 8y
Tav Wow! I keep them just in my kitchen, I have 3 bookshelves and I have to limit it to that. My home is just 900 sq feet so I have to be judicious! 8y
LauraBeth Oh I can understand that @Tav. We used to live in a 900 sq ft apt in NYC so I know what that is 8y
BookswithTea Love the bookshelf!! 😍 8y
LauraBeth Thanks @BookswithTea - it's about 12 years old now so we've gotten a lot of use out of it 😀 8y
