Memory Painter: A Novel of Love and Reincarnation
Memory Painter: A Novel of Love and Reincarnation | Gwendolyn Womack
WINNER OF THE RWA PRISM AWARD FOR TIME TRAVEL/STEAMPUNK AND A FINALIST FOR BEST FIRST BOOK A thriller, a romance, a 10,000-year adventure "The Memory Painter" is the guy-meets-girl story as you've never heard it before" ("Refinery29").Bryan Pierce is an internationally famous artist, whose paintings have dazzled the world. But there's a secret to Bryan's success: Every canvas is inspired by an unusually vivid dream. Bryan believes these dreams are really recollections possibly even flashback from another life and he has always hoped that his art will lead him to an answer. And when he meets Linz Jacobs, a neurogenticist who recognizes a recurring childhood nightmare in one Bryan's paintings, he is convinced she holds the key.Their meeting triggers Bryan's most powerful dream yet visions of a team of scientists who, on the verge of discovering a cure for Alzheimer's, died in a lab explosion decades ago. As his visions intensify, Bryan and Linz start to discern a pattern. But a deadly enemy watches their every move, and he will stop at nothing to ensure that the past stays buried."

#VolumesAndVocals

There‘s no other book I could pick for #MakeAMemory Not only is it about memory & past lives, it‘s a memory for me as it was my very first Litsy post nearly 7 years ago. (On July 5th or 6th) Litsy considers my #Litsyversary to be in March when I signed up, but I consider it when I made that first post.

“You wanna make a memory?
You wanna steal a piece of time?
You can sing the melody to me
And I can write a couple lines”

⬇️

TheBookHippie How fun!!!! Thx for the recipe!!!! 1y
Eggs What a great post—the food pic suggested creamy dessert to me(just bc I am craving that…). Also the book sounds intriguing 🤗 I am a sucker for magical shared memories, dual timelines, reincarnations etc 1y

This one was a little dense for me. It jumped around a lot and historical fiction isn‘t normally my favorite genre. There were parts that were a bit dry for me but I really liked the concept of this book and the way it blended genres between sci fi, thriller and historic. The characters were interesting and the writing was well researched. I just didn‘t love the story.

#ReadingResolutions #memory 🤔
A combination of feeling lazy & just getting home from doctors appointments, has me showing the books I have with 'memory' or 'memories' in the title. The 2 on the right are still in my #TBR stacks (on my Kindle) & the other 4 I've read.

Speaking of memories, the tagged book was the book I used in my very first Litsy post (in just about 2 months it will be 2 years!). It got 4 likes & 1 comment from... @MrBook !🤗🤣

DebinHawaii Aww... I just looked and @LeahBergen and @JanuarieTimewalker13 were my first two likes! 💜💜💜 7y

5⭐️This is no ordinary book. It‘s a complex story which is beautifully crafted. It‘s a novel containing historical fiction, a medical thriller, science fiction, time travel and romance, all woven together in a unique and captivating way. I can‘t stop talking about this book, and yet it‘s so hard to adequately describe. It must be read. https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/158273888014/the-memory-painter-gwendolyn-wom...

Not feeling the ❤️ with this one. The writing was a bit wooden in a lot of parts and the author seemed to have only a cursory knowledge of some of the things that were a focus of the book (painting, pharmaceutical research, ancient civilizations). As far as past life narratives go, there are a few books out there that handle it much better. See my alternate recommendations in the comments.

Day9 #booktober #firsteverlitsypost 3 mos ago today (really!) I made my 1st Litsy post tho I'd been signed up for a few days after seeing a @BethFishReads blog post. My 1st post was onigiri 🍙(Japanese Rice Balls) from my blog book tour review & by the #24in48 readathon I was fully hooked. I still use Facebook to keep up w/ family & Twitter & Instagram for my blog but I use them less. Litsy is my❤️ & where I hang out & freely geek out on books! 📚

ISO Book Club Suggestions! My Book Club is meeting this Thursday night. I've seen The Memory Painter suggested, and I'm looking for other suggestions! Lay them on me. I'm going to make a library run today in addition to a small stack bringing from home.

MrBook Everyone in my book club enjoyed "The Memory Painter", but it took a lot of nudging to keep the conversation going. Maybe because everyone liked it equally and for all the same reasons, lol. 8y
MrBook You're very welcome 😁👍🏻. 8y

An intriguing read! A painter starts having recollections of previous lives, coming to realize that people he knows shared in those previous reincarnations. Mysticism, destiny, philosophy, history, love and soulmates, all receive heavy contemplative space. You'll experience medieval Scandinavia, classical Japan, pre-historic Egypt, Enlightenment Europe, ancient India, and modern USA/Canada. Enjoyable! Pair with: Noah's Mill Bourbon, straight.

ValerieAndBooks Ooh, sounds good. Art-related anything appeals to me!! 8y
MrBook @ValerieAndBooks 😁👍🏻! Same goes for @BookBabe . 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Thank you!! Hope to get to it soon! 8y
Sue Sounds like fun! 8y
MrBook Now I'll have to read Gargoyle, @OSChamberlain 😂👍🏻. 8y
MrBook @Sue Oh yes 😊👍🏻. 8y
OSChamberlain You should! It's amazing. It's about a man burned alive in an accident, and in the burn ward, his nurse proceeds to tell him they've met in past lives. Very good book! 8y
MrBook @OSChamberlain Interesting. Hey, wait...it's already on my massive Goodreads TBR 😂👍🏻! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @BookBabe @mrbook For me, a lot of fiction art stuff is hit-or-miss. I'll have to think what to recommend. For non-fiction one of my recent faves was The Andy Warhol Diaries, edited by Pat Hackett. I couldn't put it down! I also like Ross King's art history that I've read so far! 8y
Alytrue Oh I really enjoyed this book! So original and intriguing. I loved figuring out the different players in each incarnation. 8y
DebinHawaii I liked this one too @MrBook but I wanted to know whether Bryan had at least one ordinary life in with all of the spectacular ones! 😉 Hah! 8y
Redwritinghood I love stories about painters. 8y
MrBook @Alytrue Kept us on our toes 😊👍🏻! 8y
MrBook @DebinHawaii Yeah, these seemed to be the highlights, lol. He did mention at a couple different points that there were more than could be remembered. 8y

Intriguing premise. Excellent job bringing history & events alive through the dreams/memories characters. Drug a bit in the middle--maybe too many spectacular lives ;-) & ending is set up of future book. Good overall. Paired w/ Onigiri (rice balls) Recipe & book tour review on Kahakai Kitchen blog
