I am actually enjoying this book, halfway through it. I didn‘t know who she was or anything about her. My book club is reading this, isn‘t this why we have book clubs?! Get you out of your comfort zone! Read other books you wouldn‘t normally read! Learn something new! God Bless RBG.

pickThis book is well titled: it is literally a collection of speeches and writings from RBG, related to her work and life. I just loved it, though of course it was bittersweet. RIP, RBG. We REALLY miss you! 😢
bailedSo much of the text was italicized and hurt my eyes to read for too long. I may try this again in audio format later (there is a waiting list for the audio), but I may not too. I read the first 10% and I was expecting more about her life than about her published opinions and editorials.
so-soI was hoping this would be a bit more biographical of RBG. Comprised of excerpts of her writing in articles and speeches, it did touch on her early life and career. But there was also explaining technical aspects of certain cases or dissenting opinions on the court that I found a bit dry. I enjoyed the audio though with original recordings of a lot of the speeches. Marty Ginsburg's portions were by far my fav. He was funny & so devoted to his wife

so-soIf you're looking for a biography of RBG, that's not what this is. And I've read and enjoyed a few of those. This is mostly speeches. And it's pretty dry. I really liked the penultimate chapter in the last section. And I really wish I could go back in time and not suggest this for #bookclub. I do love RBG. And my mum loved this so if you're really interested, don't let this deter you.

pickThis book is a collection of her writing, speeches, dissents, and briefs, interspersed with bits of personal background. So it is not a memoir, but you get a great picture of her as a person, a teacher, and a Justice. It‘s wonderful to find out more about her personal life, the legal contributions she made towards women‘s rights, and how the Supreme Court actually operates.
RBG is such a persuasive, efficient writer. Seeing how the Supreme Court works, and about her philosophy of judging has been so helpful. I‘m learning so much!
pickA great book for any RBG fan. It‘s co-authored but written in her own voice and shows a complete picture of her life and career. It‘s especially interesting if you want to know how the Supreme Court works in conjunction with the Exec and Leg branches of gov‘t; a great read if you want to read her dissents on some of the most important cases to be tried in the US. My only gripe is it‘s repetitive in its description of some of the cases discussed.
pickThis is an audio I wasn‘t sure about at first but ended up really enjoying! RBG talks about her childhood, meeting her husband and her family life. She talks about her career and highlights cases about equality. She tells her stories and the audiobook contains actual recorded talks and speeches by RBG to follow stories. The recordings at the beginning were a bit difficult to hear but either they got clearer or I concentrated a bit harder. RIP RBG.
pickI rated this one 5 ⭐️on GR because most of the book is RBG‘s words—her past lectures, dissents, & speeches. I loved the pics, esp this one of her and the Obamas. My sis got me the shirt for Christmas, I‘ve had the Funko, & my cat decided to join in. 😹This isn‘t a typical memoir or bio but the biographers give intros about RBG‘s life in between her writings. I respect her even more now & hope the current Justices see their job as she did.
I like that Biden was the chair of the committee that confirmed RBG to the Supreme Court. #todayilearned
pickAlthough I have enjoyed biographies written about the brilliant and well respected justice, I didn‘t truly appreciate the impact of this remarkable lawyer and judge. The work she authored, starting in grade eight, reflects a mind that was keenly aware of the world around her and provided the best insight into her personal and professional life. As a long time fan of RBG this was an essential read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our middle Tennessee Litsy group did Secret Santa by mail this year and Amanda sent me a lovely bunch of bookish Christmas love! I‘m missing our in person meetups but am grateful we‘ve been able to stay in touch through the pandemic. Looking forward to getting together again in 2021!

pickOh how I admire Ruth Bader Ginsburg, all the more after reading her own writing. She was an absolutely amazing woman and she and her husband were ahead of their time.
As much as I enjoyed this book, it took me a long time to read. Mainly because I needed to be fully awake to read it. It was well worth the effort. I was part way through this when she passed and the world really needs people like her.
I‘ve dipped in and out of the tagged book - it was on my list to try to finish this month but time is running out! So having breakfast with the documentary on Netflix‘s instead! #nfn2020
pickBecause it‘s a view into the world of judges and the U.S. legal system, this was a perfect pick for this month. Ginsburg and her co-authors gathered her articles, talks, and other writing starting in her high school years. There‘s some repetition, but it adds to the nuances rather than dulling them. Get the audiobook—they use actual audio of RBG speaking!

pickReading this book and sharing it with all of you feels like a fitting tribute to the great Ruth Bader Ginsberg. It‘s a pleasure to read her crisp prose and follow her reasoning and observations. I was particularly intrigued by her description of how the Supreme Court‘s workday & work week are run. With key cases discussed, historical background that‘s lively, and a personal touch, her writing moves quickly & is throughly enjoyable. Thank you, RBG.

pickWhat a giant. Highly recommend for anyone interested in RBG. Her writing provides insight into who she was as a lawyer and justice. She was so obviously extremely intelligent and thoughtful.

This gives me hope. Things may get very dark for a while (if Trump wins again), but as soon as a democrat gets back in the White House, as long as voting still matters in America, republicans can shoot themselves in the face and force Democrats to add two more judges to the Supreme Court, just to keep things even.

I am devastated about the loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Just a year ago, she spoke at Meredith College, where I work. This night was a highlight of my work at Meredith and of my life. Thank you Ruth Bader Ginsburg for being an amazing fighter and a delightful human being.
New representatives come in 3 January. It is only the President that is sworn in 2 January. We just have to make it until 3 January!!!

This is so heartbreaking and an unimaginable loss. RBG was one of the only true role models I‘ve had in my life. She stood for everything I believe in, leading with morality and integrity always. Steeped in strength and independence, she was the ultimate example that not only can a woman do anything but that it‘s so important that she always has a seat at the table.
