Yay! My May #bookspin and #doublespin picks! Looking forward to a great month!
Thank you for hosting, @TheAromaofBooks 📚
One of my favorite easy read series right now! I really want the author to focus more on Private I! I think we can sideline the episodic family drama?
Once again a plot convenience irked me. They‘ve lived thru so much & the parents have emphasized certain rules, yet a panic attack & anxiety means you ignore everything & do w/e you like? Get help, take meds? Get yourself together? I also felt the ending wrapped a little too quickly.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Only one book left to read in the series! I enjoyed this one, wasn‘t my favourite but still worth the read. 📖
Another pulse pounding book by Rachel Craine. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat. The antagonist in this book really takes it to another level. I‘m now moving on to the sixth and final book in the series. It‘s really heartbreaking that Rachel Caine passed away from cancer. I would‘ve loved to see more books in this series. #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65
“On the surface, Gwen‘s life is good—two children approaching adulthood, a committed partner, and a harrowing past dead and gone. But that past is attracting the attention of someone invisible…and unstoppable. Trouble‘s just beginning. So is the body count in this backwoods Tennessee town.”
I‘m sad to know that Rachel Caine can‘t write more of this series. But I also think Gwen Proctor‘s story may have been tapped out anyway. How many more Internet trolls and nasty people can come after her and those she loves? This is a great escapist series that moves fast and grabs you by the ba🏒🏒s. If you like a good thriller, give this a go!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
A fine finish to the saga of Gwen Proctor & her battle for peace, safety & redemption. It was also the author‘s final book before her death last year. I would‘ve loved to know what became of Gwen, Sam, Lanny, Connor & Co; where they were headed, how they healed & grew. But this was a fine finish, nonetheless. Couldn‘t give it a full five stars because the ending fell a little flat & sudden (but given the author‘s health, it‘s ok).
I loved this series despite a few campy aspects. I'm sad it's the last one The plot of this one is def derivative, but it's only the last few chapters where that gets annoying. Otherwise a great book and one of my fave things about the series is the dev of the main characters. Maybe I identify w parts of the family story (not the serial killer part) so it appeals to me. Overall I def recommend this book, esp if you have read others in the series.

1️⃣ How to Lose Your Dignity in the State of Maryland
((A Memoir of my college years 🤣🤣🤣))
I‘ve actually started writing this on & off over the years.
2️⃣ Hyacinth & Hydrangeas 🥰🥰🥰
Tagging anyone who hasn‘t played yet!
So good. This is the fifth and the last book in the Stillhouse Lake series. But it‘s as great as all the others. Rachel Caine died in November, before it‘s publication. And I cried when I read her optimistic letter at the end. Heartbreak Bay is a fitting title. I loved this family and I will miss them.
Mrs. Rachel Caine was an amazing storyteller and one that I will sorely miss. I loved reading the nail-biting adventures of the Proctor family and I'm personally at peace with the resolution of this book. I just wish Mrs. Caine could have seen it published before she passed.
I have been waiting for this one. I‘m so looking forward to it. But I‘m also so sad and I don‘t want it to end. Going in....

I‘ve been waiting a long time for this one! Who else is excited for this?
My #stack for this weekends #24in48 #readathon I doubt I‘ll get through them all, but I‘ve got a variety of genres to pick from, including Fantasy, Myth Retelling, Crime short stories, plus a few NetGalley titles like the new books by Charlie Jane Anders & Rachel Caine. Who else is ‘thonning this weekend?

This is the last book in the series as the author lost her battle with cancer last November. A car is submerged in a pond with 2 little girls in the backseat. The mother has vanished but Gwen and Kezia will search for her. There are 3 POV‘s & we learn a lot more about Kezia. Full of action, suspense and good twists. NetGally

This was an “uncorrected proof” from NetGalley - my first book from NG, woot! Yet another rabbit hole to get into 😂 Anyway - this one was good, but let‘s just let these people rest, mmmkay? I mean, how are they not completely bonkers by now? Good 5th installment in the Stillhouse Lake series 👍🏻👍🏻
