Econ‘s book in this trilogy. I liked it but not loved it. It is a short book and some parts were a little bit confused and then an abrupt ending. I still enjoyed the audiobook. 3⭐️

I really enjoyed listening to this Star Wars book. It was good to see the early days of Padme and this helped develop the Star Wars story. A good prelude to the Phantom Menace.
Also great use of sound effects during this audiobook which added to the experience.

Book 6 finished for #OutstandingOctober
Started listening to this YA Star Wars book about a young Queen and her early challenges. Enjoyable so far.
Reading as part of #OutstandingOctober.
A bit late due to my illness but reading as part of #StarWarsBuddyRead
From the unique skills of each of Amidala‘s handmaids to the realities of teen girl life (both sneaking out to parties & periods), from the initial fun of switching places with the Queen & tricking guards to the eventual life & death stakes as the Trade Federation blockades & invades Naboo, this book follow Padmé from her election as Queen to the end of The Phantom Menace‘s war.
Can we have the whole story retold from Padmé & Leia‘s POV please!
Another great Star Wars book that shows us what's going on behind the movie scenes. It's so great to get to know Padme and her girls better, and the insights into her duties were very interesting to read. I love how this book, among many others, deepened my understanding for the Star Wars universe, its characters and their stories. And: take a look at this amazing cover!

This was a good quick read about Padme's first days as Queen Amidala. It also acts as a prequel for The Phantom Menace and has scenes that fill in parts of the movie.

📚📚📚📚 Great read for September #starwarsbuddyread that readers of all ages and levels of fandom will enjoy! Takes a look at how Amidala became Queen of Naboo & how her handmaidens became such a large part of the story. Takes place smack in the midst of EP1: The Phantom Menace so characters, places, & story are familiar. Light and fun with enough action to keep reading; short but very entertaining!
Just a reminder…. Queen‘s Peril is coming up next in September for #StarWarsBuddyRead!
Put in your library holds now, if you haven‘t already!
4/5
The first Star Wars book I ever read was called Journal: Queen Amidala, so you know I love some good Padme Amidala content. This book begins with Amidala's election and ends at the same point The Phantom Menance ends. Like Johnston's other Padme novel, Queen's Shadow, the story is told from the perspective of Padme, her handmaidens, and our characters around her like Quarsh Panaka.
It's a great Star Wars novel!
1. From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back and Queen's Peril by E. K. Johnston
2. Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade and You Had Me At Hola by Alexis Daria
3. So, so many. Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells, The Galaxy and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers, A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers, The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey, The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren, and many others.

LOVED this. Even more than queens shadow. I need to own these, I love them so much. 😍😍😍
One of the biggest issues with the Phantom Menace is too many storylines and a lack of focus. Queen's Peril attempts to fill in the blanks of Padme's tale, while also serving as a prequel to Queen's Shadow and the origin of her handmaiden squad. Definitely requires knowledge of The Phantom Menace, but a strong examination of a great character. Some period talk too, which I've heard is rare in YA books.
This book tells the story of Padmé Naberrie when she becomes Queen of Naboo (taking the name Amidala). It delves into the early weeks of her reign & illuminates everything from the elaborate dresses & makeup she wears to the handmaidens & trade negotiations. Interwoven with this central narrative are moments we already know from Episode 1. So, if you‘re a fan you‘ll likely enjoy this story. Not as good as Johnston‘s Ashoka book but a solid read.
Morning coffee with a book... One of my co-workers is a huge Star Wars fan and she told me I had to read this so we could talk about it because she has things to say. As I am also a Star Wars fan, I have no problem completing this task!
