pickVelvet‘s soulful connection with Pie and all her horses-even the paper ones & her special bond with her mother were the highlights for me. How cool that Charlotte Brew(bottom left) was the first woman to ride in the Grand National in 1977. And last year, Rachael Blackmore(top right) became the first woman to win the Grand National in the 182-year history of the race. Thanks Enid, for planting the seed.🙌🏻

pickFirst off, I can't believe I never read this book growing up. I was a classic horse-book girl, and this one is pretty famous! But the sad truth is that I probably would never have picked it up if it wasn't this month's #childrensclassicread! I'm glad I did as I did enjoy this story a lot, but I also found it to be quite odd. I think maybe because it didn't actually feel like a horse story at all. Training, and even most of the big race, happened⬇️

I don't own it and I've never read it but I fondly remember watching the movie on Sunday's when I was growing up.

I don't know how many of y'all went through the horse phase, but for this #FunFridayPhoto, I had to choose National Velvet. The movie is fantastic and I adored the book, so much so that my college dorm was adorned with the movie posters and I've always kept my childhood copy with me. 🏇Also, I still take weekly dressage lessons. #HorsePhase4Life
