First finish so far this month. Very enjoyable. I enjoyed it more than I would have expected.

Listening to Alicia on audio was awesome! Plus, having her mom, dad, husband, and friends contribute was an unexpected surprise. Loved hearing her sing snippets of songs throughout the book. She covered life, love, creativity, writing songs, travel, activism, beauty, and learning to be true to herself. Excellent #audiolisten. The other audiolistens were good, but this was definitely a standout.

I had listened to The Armchair Expert podcast with Alicia Keys & so when kindle had a book deal I bought it. I‘m not a huge biography of singers/actors but it was interesting. I learned a lot about her role in activism & social justice. She had some good thoughts on what the pressures of being a mom & woman are in our society. One more book down on my #bookspinbingo

I have chosen “pick” for this, although I will say it‘s about halfway between a “pick” and “so-so” for me. The chapters really varied to me. Some were really interesting and insightful, and others felt kind of like just a list of what was happening in Alicia‘s life. Which I guess is the point of the book? Haha! Overall, I wanted a bit more insight and less description, but I‘m still glad I read it.

I highly recommend the audiobook. Each chapter begins with a musical interlude, similar to her albums. The audiobook also features various family members, friends, and mentors with short vignettes.

Such a pleasant surprise! I learned so much about this private celebrity.

Brene said something along the lines of “I read this book to learn more about you (Alicia) and I actually ended up learning more about myself.” I think that was true for me as well.

This book is full of soul, honesty, and wholehearted introspections. It delivered beyond my expectation - Love it! 🧡

Fantastic! This memoir was introspective, soulful and honest. I loved listening on audiobook so I could hear her voice and the voices of her family and friends that began each chapter. Voices like her parents and husband and friends like Bono, Jay Z and Michelle Obama really added time the experience as did get busting out in song a time or two. Highly recommend!

I have grown up listening to Alicia Keys and she has been such an inspiration. She is amazingly talented and I enjoyed this memoir about her life, family and career.

Alicia Keys wholeheartedly gave of herself in her memoir. Throughout her book she songfully and poetically shared with us an undiluted version of her story. Recalling memories of her humble beginnings, musical journey, family, love interest, children and becoming spiritually grounded. A very passionate soul, she pushes us all to look deeper within ourselves and each other by describing her own spiritual journey. She encourages us to be open.

Alicia drops words of wisdom worth highlighting and re-examining. Her album that resides with ME the most, is her very first album. Hearing the details on her songs and then pushing pause to go and push play was a lot of times nostalgic. Her memoir is insightful, positive and demonstrates her personal awareness and growth. It was a kind reminder to always be your best self and find forward movement that resides well within ones soul.

Alicia Keys memoir is appropriately subtitled A Journey and that‘s just what this book was. It‘s a soulful reflection from her earliest days up until her hosting the 2019 Grammy‘s.
A chunk in the middle was a little slow but listening to Alicia is so peaceful, so I choose those chapters as self meditation. She comes across as authentic and real, with a gentle spirit.
Definitely listen to the audio ♥️🙌🏻🎧

This memoir is everything I would expect from Alicia Keys. She truly is the author of her own forever.

What am amazing memoir! I loved hearing about her childhood and her current blend of music and activism. She has an incredible presence and strength. I didn‘t enjoy the very middle, but I think everyone will find some part of her story relatable.

Two reasons to go with the audiobook: she sings(!) and the chapters are introduced by guest readers - everyone from her parents to Oprah and Michelle Obama. 4.5⭐️

This was the soothing balm my heart and soul needed. I have been a massive fan of Alicia‘s since 2001. Her music and authenticity have always spoken to me. I so loved learning about her creative process and her family as well as her journey into mindfulness and social activism. This filled me with hope and happiness and just generally good feelings. And then I slept for a blissful 7 straight hours. Thank you, Alicia. All the stars.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Keys speaks of fame and growth, philanthropy and feminism. My favorite bits were about her style evolution and motherhood. She skipped any controversy regarding the start of her relationship with husband Swizz Beatz, but it‘s her story to tell how she pleases. That‘s the beauty of memoir. I listened to this on audio and Keys‘s speaking voice gets on my nerves, but she sings a few song snippets a cappella which are an incredible addition.
