A day late in posting this, read it for the book/movie challenge for #readingrush. I saw the movie a week ago, & remembered there was a book it was based off it. It was a slight re-read, as I read it when it first came out 11 years ago, but forgot it. The writing is amazing, very true to the Shakespearean language. While it didn‘t get the best reviews in 2008, I think it would be more appreciated in 2019 as it gives voice to a silenced woman.

I made it to Ophelia‘s Books in Seattle before heading to the airport this afternoon. I will post my book haul when I am back in AK! @mindea thank you for the recommendation, it turned out that this bookstore was right across the street from our hostel!
I love twisted classics, and this retelling of Hamlet was satisfying. It skews a bit religious toward the end, but it worked well as a plot device and of course fit well with #gettheetoanunnery.
Ultimately, this was a very ambitious piece of writing, and I think that the author did it a lot of justice.Ophelia is a very strong and feminist character - she defends women and their actions, which is a very stark contrast to Shakespeare‘s misogynistic portrayal of women. It‘s almost the complete reversal - all men are the gender to be wary of - with except for two male characters. #ya #youngadult #retelling #historicalfiction #hamlet

My Saturday Night Read. Slowly working through my cache from this year's book sales. I'm excited for this one because I love Shakespeare adaptations.
