This was a solid pick until the very end, which went a direction I found disappointing. Aside from the not-awesome ending, this novel is quite enjoyable. It gives some insight into a storyline that comes much later in the series and includes some really interesting emotional character development.
In case anybody is wondering what it looks like.1930s postcard.3rd & Bunker Hill , L.A.,Ca.The card says it‘s a miniature cable railway that climbs 315 feet on a 33 1/3% grade. Built in 1901 .
6th in the series. an activist attorney who often goes after the LAPD is killed on Angels Flight funicular. The higher ups want to pull together their best detectives to solve the case & defuse possible accusations of impropriety. As Bosch investigates, prior cases start to unravel, it‘s clear it‘s even more complicated than anyone imagined.Very powerful people may also be involved.Questions seem to lead to more questions.A good one!
I knew Bosch would break my slump, this book was fantastic! Michael Connelly sure knows how to deliver a masterful one-two punch of a twist. 👏🏽
Last night finished the 6th in the bosch series +was hooked from page 1 with twists & turns every few pages as Harry is handed a hospital pass of an investigation when a civil rights lawyer notorious for suing lapd is found shot dead on the furnicular @ angels flight. Written in 99 this a story played out with the race riots of the 90', rodney King, and oj trial at the front of everyone's mind, 21 yrs on has much changed? Brilliant storytelling.
Book #6 in the Harry Bosch series. This book is a doozy. A crazy story about some big players in LA, a few twists on who did what, and some drastic changes in Harry‘s personal life. I liked that I had seen the tv episode of Bosch that featured Angel‘s Flight, not being familiar with that landmark the visuals helped me picture things better in the story.
I am surprised, that I am still not tired of this series. The books are a merry collection of stereotypes of the righteous cop working against all odds and politics of the department.
But so far, the stories still suck me in and therefore I keep reading them.
1. It‘s actually autumn here, my favourite season. In spring though, my favourite thing is seeing my wisteria & cherry blossom trees flower.🌸
2. I did that Myers Briggs test & it came back 99% introvert! I think that‘s pretty much conclusive.😂
3. 20 so far, the tagged book was one of the best LA crime novels I‘ve read. And I‘ve read a lot!👀
4. Much 💗 to @CarolynM @Ciara_Rosey & @MrsMalaprop
Bk10 of my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge is done. Wow. This is not just the best Bosch I‘ve read,I think it‘s the best L.A crime noir novel I‘ve read too. That ending was fantastic. You know when a book is so good you see it in your head like a movie with sound & music?Or is that just me. Highly recommend this one. #Booked2020 #SetInHollywood #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterA #PopSugar20 #SetInACityThatHostedTheOlympics #MountTBR2020 #Bk10 #BeatTheBacklist2020
Practicing self isolation tonight instead of a dinner with family, but at least I have good books. I knew there was a reason I was accumulating my #MountTBRShelvesOfDoom coz it‘s sure starting to look like the apocalypse out there😷Bk10 of my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge is another Bosch, No6 in the series. I‘d love to go to L.A & take a ride on this car, it sounds similar to the scenic railway in Katoomba, without the scenery!
Bosch #6. A black civil rights lawyer, who makes a nice living sueing the LAPD, is shot dead and it looks like it may well have been a cop that did it. LA is ready to riot again unless Harry and his team can find the murderer in double-quick time. As usual Bosch is working as much against the brass as against the nominal bad guys and his love life is collapsing around his ears as well. Not a great time to quit smoking, all in all. Terrific stuff.
Book - Tagged. My favorite series.
Movie - it‘s a Wonderful Life Clarence!
Song - Johnny Angel by Shelley Fabares. It was on my first record album, purchased at age 10. (1962)

I've never read Connelly nor watched the show Bosch but I have ridden Angels Flight in Los Angeles. This iconic landmark reopened last year after being closed. It is a funicular railway that runs only a couple hundred feet and 1 minute in time. It was also featured in the movie La La Land.
Never read Michael Connelly before. But this was a good book. Will be reading more
Another fantastic book in the Harry Bosch series!
Lots of twists and turns it really did have me guessing until the last 20 pages.
Bosch is quickly becoming one of my favourite detectives. He's just got it!
Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
New book for the week ahead back to the Harry Bosch series with book number 6. Starting it tomorrow though as its Killing Eve tonight!!
This sixth book in the Bosch series has a different performer for the audiobook- which definitely detracted somewhat to my enjoyment... but it is very well-plotted with more twists than I expected and made still for a fun listen while #audiocleaning and #audiocoloring!
I've been a huge Michael Connelly fan for a long time, Angels Flight was the first Bosch book I read, and I was hooked. I think Mr Connelly has also developed the Mickey Haller character enough to rival Harry in depth of character now, but Harry will always be my favourite. And it doesn't hurt that the Amazon Prime series is pretty damn good as well! #harrybosch #thriller #bookish #bibliophile #mickeyhaller
Since last summer I've been on a mission to read all the Bosch books in order. Ive been taking my time as not to get burnt out on one character. This wasnt the best book, but at least I get to cross it off my list!
Opening line:
"The word sounded alien In his mouth, as if spoken by someone else."
