“Slowly, over time, God had moved further and further away, until He was eventually nothing more than an idea - and someone else‘s idea, at that.”
No, it‘s not as good as Our Fathers, but this story about a young woman and her 12 year old daughter, falling under the spell of The Prophet, pulled me in from the first page and I read it in a day!
A 5 star read because I read it in a day & couldn‘t put it down. Maybe @sarahbarnes recommended it in a comment? I can‘t remember who mentioned it but thank you. This is the 3rd book in a row I‘ve read that I couldn‘t put down & I couldn‘t be happier. Always good to be on that kind of a roll. A mother, enticed into living in an isolated religious cult, brings her daughter into a world the daughter struggles courageously against. Perfect pacing.
I‘ve missed Litsy! 😊 I really admired the way Wait brings readers into the cult that is the center of this story. It‘s a quiet, not dramatic, depiction of events and that really makes it more horrifying. And yet, the resilience of humans comes through to make the story powerful instead of bleak. I‘m excited to read her new book when it comes out here!
So I have had a recent giant run of new followers here on Litsy. Which is absolutely amazing! You guys are so great 💖😘💖
I would like to award my 3,500th follower with a free book as a big THANK YOU! So @Atticus6905 please shoot me an e-mail with your mailing address so I can send you your free book! And thank you again for being my 3,500th Follower 💗❤️💖🤗😘😘😘😘🤗💖❤️💗

Ok ya'll here's the answer to all the new followers! I'm not on the fb page which is where it was announced I guess.
Hello my lovely Littens! I‘ve recruited another stunning bibliophile to our awesome, nerdy, comforting, non-judgmental corner of social media heaven. @Jgally is a gem, and I‘m sure you‘ll dig her posts. Oh, and she also likes thrift shopping, so she‘s a keeper. Please check out her feed and give her a follow. ♥️

Whoa! 250k litfluence?! @britt_brooke is celebrating in such a generous way ➡️ this #250kgiveaway where you can win this stack and some other goodies. Check her for the original post.
Thanks for the opportunity!
@RaimeyGallant started this fabulous #LitsyFollowBackTrain as a way for #littens to connect and get to know one another a bit better by following one another back. Love this! So hope aboard and spread some bookish love!
Oh my goodness... 6,500 followers?! That's insane! Thank you, everyone. 😍❤
I feel like I have to post a quick update. I haven't been on here as much lately as most of you know I've been moving. I also got strep throat last week, and right as I was feeling better from that, I got hit with food poisoning. So, the move hasn't been going well. 😖
Anyway, I hope to be posting regularly again in the coming weeks, and maybe host a giveaway?? 😍
Thanks guys! I love you too ☺️

I've hit the next milestone today. 😍
What a gorgeous #litsyfamily. 🎉
@ChloeTallis thank you for that. 😘
I hit 500 followers yesterday! I know it's small potatoes to some of the more established Littens, but I think it's pretty cool! Every day I'm grateful to be able to geek out over books with others who feel the same way. Can't wait to continue getting to know you all!
Made it 60 pages into my last book before I realized I was totally uninterested in what was (or wasn't, as the case may be) happening. Switched over to this novel of a woman who joins a cult and ends up in jail and I have devoured 75 pages without looking up. Feeling like I made the right choice.
We don't really do #FollowFriday on Litsy, but let's be friends on other social media too! Send me your usernames on any of the sites I've listed, or just follow me and I'll follow you back. You can basically find me as "Kate Densen" everywhere.
As many of you know, I've been out of the Litsy Loop (is that a hashtag yet?) for a bit, so who are some Littens I should be following?
Love this community, happy to be back with more consistency. ❤❤❤
Religious cults and charismatic leaders have always fascinated me and the capacity for submission and faith are covered well in this readable book. However some characters are underdeveloped and the story rushes to its end far too quickly for this reader.
