A weird choice to read. I am kinda torn between liking this & disliking.

A few years either side of 1977, for a 10 week season, BBC 2 used to broadcast a late night double-bill of horror films. Usually a Universal 1st & a Hammer horror 2nd. ‘77, arguably, had the most classic selections. This is one man‘s story of watching those films as a kid in a cultural/historical context. This book must have the skinniest demographic: Mid/late 50s, British, geeky & probably male. Sometime a bit too personal but mostly a good read.

The year-long course is blighted by students setting fire to one another's artwork, a rumoured extra-marital affair and a disastrous road trip. The students have nothing in common except their clashing personal agendas, what could possibly go wrong? The answer is: murder.

Very irritating Ophelia...Seems her vocabulary are mostly curse words and most of the time I feel that she is too childish. She is suppose to be the heroine.
Hopefully its better in the next book.
Continuation to Rafaelo & Noelle. We learn a little bit more about Noelle.
Raf is crazy about Noelle. Noelle is too crazy about Raf. Michele is crazy about Zia. Zia is not sure about Michele anymore...
And the list goes on...
Surviving Him by Jo Johnson
This is a sad story about family dynamics in an awful situation. The subject matter was dealt with quite sympathetically and brings it home just how devastating dementia can be. The story itself I wasn‘t so keen on. It was a little implausible in places and the blackmail thread running through it could have been omitted in my opinion . A thought provoking read nevertheless. #Pigeonhole
Surviving Him by Jo Johnson
When Daisy reaches eighteen, she enters a highly selective club. In this club, you get a test that decides if you live or die.
To the casual observer Daisy Bowen-Jones is a vile bully with a drug habit. Light emerges when Daisy is forced to work in a care home. Much to everyone‘s delight, she‘s shockingly successful. But as she turns a corner, long hidden family secrets crawl from under the carpet.
The Murder Trail by DG Penny.
An early proof copy read via the #Pigeonhole app. Bearing that in mind, my thoughts are that there is a good story at the heart of it. However, it needs rejigging and going over with a fine-tooth comb. At the moment it starts off well, then begins to meander towards the middle, losing the plot somewhat and then ending on a cliffhanger. It also has quite a few grey areas, is quite repetitive and seems padded out.

Can a rookie cop stop a serial killer before another life is lost? The first in the DC Izzy Wilde crime thriller series.
This isn‘t in Litsy yet but I enjoyed this short novella. Book 105/100 of the year.
I enjoyed this Audible Original, The Boys: Deeper & Deeper read by 3 of the actors! I only saw the 1st season but this fits in with my knowledge base.
It‘s a podcast interview with the Deep, his wife by his side, it delves into his backstory from a childhood rife with bullying due to his gills to his time with the Seven to his escape from a cult, marriage to current day life & hawking his memoir.
FUN EXTRA if you enjoyed The Boys!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
I read this with my reading group. Our theme this time was the African continent. This story fitted the bill very well. It‘s well written and easy to read with some fantastic and vivid descriptions of South Africa. I enjoyed travelling with Stephen and Angela on their journey and don‘t blame them for wanting to settle there, even with all the apartheid trouble which was going on in the 1980s which is when this book was set. An excellent read.
I‘m reading Beneath a Copper Sky by Valerie Poore with my local reading group as the first of our ‘continents‘ reads.
“Apartheid still rules in South Africa when Angela and Stephen take on a job as caretakers of a remote farm in the Midlands of Natal. Things don't go quite as planned from the moment they arrive, and the young couple find themselves coping with a situation they hadn't bargained for.”
The Widow‘s Weeds by Allie Cresswell deals with some serious themes, but amongst the weeds and the showers there are quite a lot of flowers and sunshine. It‘s well written with some endearing characters plus the odd villain. I have been totally immersed in their lives for the past week. A moving tale of friendship and courage which had me turning the pages to the very end.
The Widow‘s Weeds by Allie Cresswell, the third in the Widows series.

Doctor Who: Out of Time 3: Wink
Big Finish Productions
This was a fantastic addition to this trilogy.
Cast - Doctors 6 & 10 were hilarious together, they had some inspired bickering. They were very believable together.
Story - Weeping Angels are back & after low hanging fruit … they are just despicable … the indigenous life has a secret the Doctors unveil which sets them on the path to save the day.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Also not in the Litsy database.
Doctor Who: Out of Time 2: The Gates of Hell
A Big Finish Production
Cast: 5&10 (perfection, great short stories) plus a female time agent. Great dialog.
Story: The Doctors meet up throughout time in the catacombs beneath Paris & with the help of the time cop (lol) foil the Cybermen‘s plot to destroy the Earth and convert all living inhabitants …
These two doctors are also great together. One to go.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This horror novella is a very tense, fast-paced and atmospheric read.
It's ideal as a quick bedtime read and it's essential winter reading if you're into reading books with snow in them during the winter.
It was an entertaining little read but I feel like the author should have taken his time and given us more substance.
I received an advance copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Today, I‘m sharing the books I read in December. I will not be reading any new books until January.

So, I'm starting to get actual physical books again (as opposed to ebooks) which is a really big deal because when I was with my trafficker everytime I got books (which was rare in itself) either he would destroy or throw them away as punishment for something or when we moved randomly out of the blue to another state they were not allowed to come with (the fact that I even had any books at any point still amazes me sometimes) , cont. Title: In His Eyes (bk2 Into You series) Author: Julie Olivia
Ian & Nia‘s bffs are getting hitched & they are stuck for a week on the beach doing wedding stuff. Dual flashback POVS show how long they‘ve pined for each other but never made a move. Conflict incident is what it is. Sex scene is tame 🌶 on spice scale. 📚📚📚 overall slow burn
Title: In Too Deep (bk1 Into You series) Author: Julia Olivia
📚📚📚🌶
A workplace romance with some comedic undertones. Female Main written as feisty red-head but reads as your average person, relatable but several face palm moments. Male Main is hot to trot but also average & relatable. Big connector is golden retrievers 🙂 Sex scenes are okay. The point is the buildup not the sex for this author it seems. Amazon KU read.
I made this list at the end of May and then life happened and I didn‘t get to post my list. I hope it‘s not to late to join in for June! @TheAromaofBooks

This was a wonderful find on Amazon. Truly a delightful read
So some little darlings decided they didn't like my street library window this morning....
A few things i have done recently. I got excited when i seen the chicken coop so had to have it.
Yesterday's sunset out in the bush, unedited. I work semi-adjacent to my husband's job (mostly paperwork and reports) and sometimes will go with him on a service call to a logging truck in the bush. Yesterday we were on such a trip and the sunset was so vivid. I shot this out the truck window at a three-way intersection.
Goodreads has been getting on my nerves lately so I just finished setting up my #storygraph account. I'm sydneyerin on there if anyone wants to connect. It seems pretty nice so far!
Thank you for tagging me, @Powered_By_Plants! 🌸 #booksthisorthat
Reading always - at day and night (though mostly at night), with drink or without.
I'm a huge mood reader, but sometimes TBRs work for me, too.
Printbooks - paperbacks, hands down... 📚
