This was the perfect feel good read!
This was the perfect feel good read!
Much better, I like books that don't make me work to love them! 😊📚❤
I'm putting this down for now. I'm about halfway through & I just realised I don't really care about any of the characters.
I like TJR's writing style, it's straight forward & concise & she doesn't waste words. The thing that's ruining it for me is how cold & calculating most of the characters are. Most of them are just downright nasty- pasties who'll do anything to go forward with their career & this sort of story doesn't appeal to me.
Hey people! Haven't been able to really even look at Litsy lately thanks to my mattress dying & the subsequent mattress testing trips plus getting a new bed cos I'm downsizing from a queen to a double lol! I had such a hard time fixin on what to read during those three weeks given how tired & stressed I was too. Anyway, I'm at Mum & Dad's place for an early Chrissy & reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. It's very different to what I thought!
A darling of a cosy story!!! A wonderful quick read for when you need a hug 😊📚💗
Omigosh, I'm sure I can't be the only one who felt like crying when I got to the end & realised what the title meant! Loved it & made me very grateful I have a loving, open relationship with my parents despite Dad ticking me off every second visit lol! 💗💔📚😊
🌟🌟🌟🌟
I didn't know what to make of this book at first. Third person perspective is a bit harder for me to get into but by the first couple of chapters I was sucked in! I identified so much with both Connell & Marianne at different stages (I mean, who hasn't been an awkward teenager? Lol!) Took Connell long enough to get his act together & figure out what he wanted! Looking very much forward to reading Sally Rooney's next book 😊
🌟🌟🌟
This is such a departure from The Book Thief but it's just as good on a whole different level! This book simultaneously ripped my heart out & stomped on it while practically making me fall off the couch laughing at the Dunbar bros antics. I loved it 😊
🌟🌟🌟🌟
As for the Merchisons, they were honest, hairy people. They were a blue singlet of a man, with great big sideburns like fur meat cleavers on his cheeks, & a woman named Raelene. Rofl!!!! 🤣📖
Wow..... The prose in this book! So beautiful & lyrical, & the ending, the ending! I thought the big 'm' scene was a bit vulgar & unnecessary I won't give any spoilers but if you've read the book you know which scene I'm talking about. I'm willing to overlook it though because of the wonderful prose & the fact that this book has so many quotables in it! 🌟🌟🌟 Taking two stars off for the yuck scene but otherwise it's beautiful 😊📚💖
I'm back after months of study. Time for some quality reading time!! 😊📚💗
So good! I sorta picked what was going to happen at the end but it didn't matter because it's such a good story! The scary thing though is I can actually see this happening......
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So, I sorta enjoyed this book & sorta really didn't. The story is ramping up & getting exciting but at the same time it's kinda not because every time there's a crisis, it works out just fine & everything goes back to normal. There's this really odd part in the middle of the book as well concerning Kris getting date raped & her acceptance of it is a bit unnerving to be honest. Two stars & I don't know if I'll read the other books now ⭐⭐
"Well, can it please be reconstructed?"
I admit I'm a bit slap happy but I almost spit out my cuppa tea over that line rofl!! ??
I really enjoyed this! It goes along at a good pace & there's a host of interesting characters to keep you amused. The only thing that wasn't so good was everything is happening so fast you only get to know the main character, Kris. I started the next book last night when I couldn't sleep though & I think we'll be getting to know some of the other characters & a bit more of the back story 😊🖖

Got a big pile of Anne McCaffrey's books donated to the library so I'm reading them to see if they're ok.... 😜🤪
Rereading an old fav!!!! Still love it! This is one of those rare secular books that come pretty close to conveying God's message I reckon 📖📚😊
After only a month & a bit of drama, my street library door is fixed & the library's back in action again!!!
Deviating from my current reads lol! I told my library vollies to bring one of their favourite book of all time & to be prepared to tell us all why it's their fav & suddenly realised it's been ages since I've read one of mine so I better get cracking! 😊
I just read something about a #chunksterchallenge, not sure what it is exactly but at 600+ pages I hope this counts lol! 😊📖📚
A very charming read. The perfect antidote to reading too many tomes lol 😊📖📚
Really good, some good insights in this one! 📚😊📖
Pretty good although some of her prose makes you a bit uncomfortable at times. The story lags a little in the middle but picks up again. Overall a pretty enjoyable read 😊📖
Anyone here doing World Book Night in a couple of weeks? 😊
Ok, morning jobs are done. Now to get in some quality reading time & review this baby! 😊
So some little darlings decided they didn't like my street library window this morning....
Winning the everyday battles of the mind.....
Little bit late pandemic-wise, I know! But better late than never! As harrowing & downright heart wrenching & scary this tale is, I actually did enjoy reading it! I was amazed at some of the restriction similarities between then & now though I spose Geraldine might have just put them in as part of the story. Anyway, a good story all over. Although it's probably a good thing I didn't read it at the height of the pandemic last year!
'You read a lot, don't you Ponyboy?' Cherry asked.
I was startled. 'Yeah. Why?'
She kind of shrugged. 'I could just tell. I'll bet you watch sunsets too.' She was quiet for a minute after I nodded. 'I used to watch them too, before I got so busy...'
I enjoyed this book. It took me a little while to get into it because at the start Daniel is not a very likeable character! But as the story progresses I got to know Daniel & see him grow it turned into a really lovely story :O)
Found this one in a local street library. Not sure what I think of it yet, I don't really like the main character so far
Always enjoy a good Phryne read! Picking 'the crim' in this one was a bit too easy but I still enjoyed it. Good holiday reading 📖 😊
