4.5/5⭐ Exquisite character work. Moyes has a gift of juggling many complex characters and making all their actions/words make perfect sense for them. I thoroughly enjoyed diving into them all through their stories. #bookspinbingo #roll100

So many mixed reviews on this book…. I like the author, so hoping this is at least decent….. here goes (@4am!)…..
On to the next- "Bossypants" by Tina Fey! Hoping it fulfills the 'made you laugh out loud' slot.
I thought I loved Jojo Moyes after having read and enjoyed three of her fiction novels prior to this one. However, this is one of her earlier works and she has obviously developed a ton as a writer. This novel is literally centered around telling the story of an awful selfish woman, who is the daughter of another awful woman. More reasons why not to read will be in my review on my Goodreads in the morning!
I'm not liking ANY of the characters so far, and I'm ~130 pages in. Hoping somebody redeems themselves by the end of this one 😅🤷🏽♀️
A little me time before heading out to work ♥️
Reading this for my IRL Bookclub #FriendsWithBooks
I love Jojo Moyes and have read nearly every novel. I love the cover of this book and the summary. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the side story of Jessie, her young employee captured my heart, not Suzanna Peacock. I did appreciate the way Moyes dedicated a chapter of Suzanna 's mother to culminate the mystery of her young life. Characters were stricken by love issues and those that became happy were due to others grief.
Had trouble following (I'm not sure why), and bailed after the first few chapters. I did read the end to see if there was incentive to keep reading, and there wasn't. Not sure why I devoured Me Before You, After You, and Still Me, but I've bailed on all her other books
One quirky quote that did seem true to Cath‘s daughter Jessie, a central character in the novel.

Just finished this library book. My first by this author. It was erratic for me, just so-so. Village characters (though bit players) well drawn. Liked the title- reminds me of the peacocks that stroll noisily through my sister-in-laws Florida neighborhood🦚🦚.
A women starts a shop when she feels at ends. Meanwhile, in the past, one woman gets married and it‘s not what she wants and another woman stands in the background.
“I can‘t mourn someone who left me without a backward glance.”
i‘m working harder to be a radiator! which are you?

I bailed at 21% / 3:08:47. Dislike all of the characters. Bored with every story line.
Beautiful night to sit out, read a little, while the sun sets... #jojomoyes #thepeacockemporium #perfectevening #sunsetting #birdschirping #nottohot #happy
Started this one a few days ago. Did anyone struggle with the time lines? In my head I was picturing 1920 and the Suzanna in 1960, not 1960 and 2001. Anyone else? I still am enjoying it. I love everything Jojo Moyes writes.
Excited to start this one 💜.... #jojomoyes #thepeacockemporium #bookstagrammer #readingtime📖 #readingismagic #bookswag #bookporn #bookpages #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks
I would have liked this book more had I skimmed passed the first two-thirds to get to the last third. But then I might never know there is such a thing as a peacock bass.
Ran to the public library and found this treasure just sitting on the shelf, waiting for me.
This was sooo sooo sooo sooo very good!!! I absolutely loved it!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍
It also broke my heart! Ripped it out! Stomped on it! Chapter 14 & 18...Really? Really? That was needed? Seriously?
But it is brilliantly written and I could not put it down. Excellent foreshadowing! Go pick up a copy and read this masterpiece.😍😎😍😎😍😎😍
I managed another 5 hours and a total of about 14 hours in the #TwelveInTwo challenge.
Thank you @Samplergal for this, as always it really helps with the TBR shelve!!!

And another 4 hours in the #TwelveInTwo challenge. Total just over 9 hours. Will be squeezing in a few more. I so totally enjoy this book. Not something I would have picked up if it was not for #2019BookHoroscope on Read It Foward, but I can't put it down.

This one is about to have an American edition for the first time. (Hence why I got a review copy.) But you can tell it‘s one of Moyes‘ earlier novels. There were parts I really enjoyed though. #howjessreadsin2019
