Shakespeare and Company (Paris) | 
In Paris and I made it to Shakespeare and Company! It was on my list and I‘m glad I had the time to go. Can cross it off the bucket list!
My haul! 🩷 Obvs, I had to get The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Also grabbed an edition of Slaughterhouse-Five for my collection. Couldn‘t decide which tote, so got both. 😅
My husband and I just got home from a whirlwind trip to Paris for some Olympic festivities (courtesy of his employer, a huge sponsor of the games). During some unscheduled time, we snuck away to Shakespeare and Company! No photos permitted inside, but trust me, it was lovely! In a trip of incredible photos, this is one of my favorites. 🩷
When in Paris… I had to work and was there only for 24 hours yet I managed to visit this wonderful, very old bookstore. I bought The Birthday Party (just nominated for the International Booker) and I‘m a Fan. Both were stamped 🤩
Our European adventure came to an end in Paris. So of course I made a pilgrimage to Shakespeare and Company. Bought a few books and a tote bag and sat outside by the cafe with a pot of tea. Paris, bookstore and tea. All is right in my world. 🥰
I guess no one gets surprised when I admit that once inside the store, I bought some books.
Except for Less Than Angels, every book has a connection to France.
The Dud Avocado is about a young American woman living in Paris in the 1950s.
Spring Cannot Be Cancelled is about David Hockney self isolation in rural France and his Normandy iPad art, and a discussion on French artists
And naturally Shakespeare and Company is about the store.
One of the first things we did in Paris, was to visit Shakespeare and Company. This was the queue that met us. Actually it was longer, but we sat down for awhile to prepare ourselves.
Inside there was no problem moving about, and going back and forth, so that was great.
I think this was my third time visiting the store.
And off course I bought books.
Finally got to experience this amazing bookstore in person! 😍😍😍📚
There was a LINE at Shakespeare and Company in Paris today - I‘m so glad that the shop is doing well! I guess it could be Covid protocols too, but it seems like Europe is very much over that 😜🇫🇷
1) The tagged bookstore, The Strand, Parnassus (Anne Pachett‘s bookstore), RJ Julia‘s, the flagship store of Waterstone‘s in London, Powell‘s. As much as I love Munro‘s, I would love to visit one of these stores as well as attend the famous Hay Festival or just visit the bookstores at Hay-on-Wye.
2) No; I just let myself be in the moment.

Well, I wish I were sharing better news, but I am currently nursing a broken leg in my hotel in Paris. I had an accident on a scooter yesterday, which resulted in a very long excursion to the hospital and a cast from thigh to toes. On the bright side, I did manage to visit Shakespeare and Company yesterday before the accident, and will post some pics later. I am pretty immobilized right now, so thankful I have my Kindle and iPad for company.
