Day 8 - Connection

I was undecided whether or not to share my connection with others or nature. This photo symbolises both. The bouquet I picked from my garden, for Mum's 20 year anniversary of her death.

Don‘t be put off by the preciousness of the title. If you‘re a woman who lost your mother young, this is a must read. There are a lot of behaviors & attitudes I have that I was aware are related to childhood trauma, but it was astonishing to learn how much of these are common to women whose mothers died young. I now want to push this into the hands of every motherless daughter I meet. You‘re not alone in your grief or your experience of the world.

I couldn‘t let this day go by without bragging on my beautiful only child. She knows that Mother‘s Day has been harder for me since finding out my birth mother‘s identity last year, and discovering that she passed away in May 2009, before I ever had a chance to meet her.

Breakfast in bed, showering of gifts, and a perfect day kayaking on the lake. She definitely filled my bucket with 💖 today.

And yes, that is a dragonfly on her arm!

So this Valentine's day sucked. I lost my mother 345 days after losing my father and I can't find one decent book on that kind of grief and pain.

My mom passed away years ago but I've been fortunate to have an amazing MIL to celebrate on Mother's Day Sunday. We live a thousand miles apart so I'm sending her some bookish goodies including a handcrafted bookmark and a self published book from my daughter's kindergarten class!

This jumped out at me today while I was at the used book store. Yesterday I had a conversation with my honorary niece... her mom (my best friend) died suddenly 4 years ago. So much of her young life has been shaped by that tragedy. (She just turned 19.) I bought this for her but I'm going to read it first... hopefully it will give me a better understanding of what she is going through. 😢❤️

Helped me out during one of my difficult dark periods. I may have to dig it out to read again. 👓👓👓👓
