3 ⭐Normally, when I I think about Doreen Cronin, I think about click clack moo cows that type. Most of her books are fun and campy. This book is more serious. A baby sloth falls out of a tree and must wait for Mom to come collect them. But sloths are very slow. mama has the baby noticed the world around them while they wait. This book is sweet, but I think what makes this book as good as it is is the illustrations.
3 ⭐ Once again, the illustrator does all the heavy lifting in this book. It‘s well known that many kids first word is mama or mom or mommy and that often when trying to get kids to say more things they just repetitively call for Mom. This book plays on that as animals are trying to teach their children new words and all they say is mama. This is very expected after having read Dada and while it is fine it is still nothing new.
Llama Llama is ready for bed, but when Mama Llama leaves the room, he starts to worry. Through playful rhymes and vibrant illustrations, Llama Llama Red Pajama captures the familiar bedtime anxieties of young children. This heartwarming story reassures kids that their worries will fade, and Mama will always return when needed most.
Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney features rhythmic, poetic text that engages young readers while telling the story of Llama Llama's bedtime anxieties. As Llama calls for his mama, the book explores the comforting message that it's okay to feel scared, but love and reassurance are always near. A heartwarming tale perfect for bedtime.
