The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer | Michelle Hodkin
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger. She wakes from a coma in hospital with no memory of how she got there or of the bizarre accident that caused the deaths of her best friends and her boyfriend, yet left her mysteriously unharmed. The doctors suggest that starting over in a new city, a new school, would be good for her and just to let the memories gradually come back on their own. But Mara's new start is anything but comforting. She sees the faces of her dead friends everywhere, and when she suddenly begins to see other people's deaths right before they happen, Mara wonders whether she's going crazy! And if dealing with all this wasn't enough, Noah Shaw, the most beautiful boy she has ever seen can't seem to leave her alone but as her life unravels around her, Mara can't help but wonder if Noah has another agenda altogether

Can anyone recommend this series? I found them on my walk this morning to the LFL up the hill & thought they sounded interesting. I took the day off today as I was unwell last night & didn‘t get much sleep but am feeling well enough today to get out on this glorious spring day & also do some spring cleaning. Anyone else watching the queen‘s funeral tonight? My cousin Craig, who lives in London, has been invited and is going. What I wouldn‘t give!

I wanted to love this since I was pulled into the writing right away. But it was just a bit too YA with a solid dose of misogyny. It would have been much better with college-age characters.

I'm hoping to still finish out a few books in January but am excited to start off with a new month for #BookSpinBingo. The tagged book has managed to move through multiple lists and has been on my TBR for years, so it will definitely be a priority in February.

Day 5
This is a great YA horror/paranormal/mystery trilogy. I finished each book within a day. One of three YA trilogies/series that I felt were worth being purchased in its entirety. Plus I love the covers. If anyone decides to pick this up, I do NOT recommend the Noah Shaw continuation series. It‘s incredibly slow paced and uneventful.

CloakNQuill I‘m also a big fan of asylum settings (book 2) 4y

This book was eerily amazing! I absolutely loved the plot, the overall storyline was just so creepy and unsettling, the world building was so odd in a good way, and I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the book. The characters were so well developed, I loved the questionable choices Mara makes and dont even get me started on my new book boyfriend Noah Shaw 🖤 This is one of my favourites I've read this year. Plus I need the sequel like now!

Uh...yeah so this starts out with a whole lot of potential and...didn‘t deliver. At all. I found it on a list of books all adults should have to read and frankly I‘m wondering why anyone should bother. If you pick it up for the paranormal storyline (guilty here) you will be disappointed greatly. Hard pass here.

Some title just call me like a siren song. These are 10 titles that I had to read. They're lyrical or have a play on words that was too intriguing.

Anyone else have titles that were irresistible? Did they live up to their allure?

#AdventRecommends Day 16❄
Before I start I have to say that I did not finish this trilogy yet. (But I am looking forward to)

This is a really cool paranormal ya trilogy that pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Mara is an unreliable character, so you will never be 100% sure of what is really going on.
Maybe that's the reason I fell in love with these books.. I don't know.
Read the synopsis and give it a try.❄

Not going to lie. Not my favorite. Noah makes me swoon. I want to punch Mara in her ovaries but she‘d probably kill me with her weird paranormal powers. The author just couldn‘t pull off a combination of paranormal YA/romance/mystery/thriller.

For my first #SeriesFeature, one of my very favorite book series: the Mara Dyer trilogy. I was drawn in from the first page by Mara, a protagonist who is multi-faceted in an unusual way. Certain parts of Mara are hidden away even from herself until later on in the series, which links the reader and the main character on a journey of discovery. I loved the genre mash up as well, which includes mystery, sci-fi, horror, and YA. #youngadultfiction

I cannot describe how engrossed I was in this story. I think, if I added up the hours I read, I read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer in a day! I haven't been this enthralled for a while, but to put it all out there, I love a good angsty romance, LOVE IT. But I love it even more when an angsty romance is sprinkled with some paranormal activity and an overarching mystery.

Overall, the story and mystery of this book are amazing. However, after reading it a second time after my tastes have progressed, I realized that the characters were incredibly cheap and the writing style was very WattPad fanfiction writer-like. I still liked the book and I'm excited to continue my reread of the series but.. now I know I guess

Aaaaa yeah, this book! The description on the dustjacket is not serving it any justice. Yes, there's a handsome boy, a girl and beating hearts but there's so much more to this story. This is the first book in a trilogy about Mara, and (ofcourse) ends with a cliffhanger. The most breathtaking cliffhanger ever 👌

This was one of the books that really got me back into reading after years. Mara Dyer went through a tragic experience after an asylum collapsed killing her two friends and her boyfriend. Mara soon regains her memory and realized that the building didn't only collapse because it was only but because Mara is capable of hurting or killing things with her mind. Great book.

*fart noise* This book wouldn't be half bad if it wasn't so focused on the romance with a rich English asshole. The plot, despite how interesting it could have been, was shelved to serve the romance. Confusing prose and I called every plot twist before it happened. Will not be reading the sequel.
